Procedures for restoring vestibular disorders

This paper will discuss therapeutic possibilities for disorders of the vestibular organs and the neurons involved, which confront ENT clinicians in everyday practice. Treatment of such disorders can be tackled either symptomatically or causally. The possible strategies for restoring the body's vestibular sense, visual function and co-ordination include medication, as well as physical and surgical procedures. Prophylactic or preventive measures are possible in some disorders which involve vertigo (bilateral vestibulopathy, kinetosis, height vertigo, vestibular disorders when diving (Tables 1 (Tab. 1) and 2 (Tab. 2)). Glucocorticoid and training therapy encourage the compensation of unilateral vestibular loss. In the case of a bilateral vestibular loss, it is important to treat the underlying disease (e.g. Cogan's disease). Although balance training does improve the patient's sense of balance, it will not restore it completely

Science in Russia: Factors of Modernization and Resources for Development

One of the most strategic resources of a country is its science and technology complex. To be productive, scientists need excellent conditions for doing research. Consequently, they choose such place where they can work efficiently, they even leave their motherland for researching under better conditions. The study describes the key indicators of efficient research activity. To characterize the science of a country, we distinguish two groups: indicators of scientific and technological capabilities and indicators for assessing the impact of scientific productivity. We use statistical data of reports published in Russia from 2003 to 2014. We did the comparative analysis of performance indicators of research activity in some European and Asian OECD member countries. That provides an overview of the main trends of development and the state of world science. Using data analysis presented in Science Watch, Web of Science and Scopus databases, OECD STAN database, ANBERD, the data published by National Science Foundation and the RAND Corporation, we identify key indicators of research activity in the world. We point out the negative tendency of emigration of Russian scientists and highlight the main reasons of this process. In conclusion, we outline the main reasons of the crisis in Russian science

В статье рассматриваются проблемы сопровождения процессов прохождения практик студентов учебных заведений, а также их последующего трудоустройства. Предложено решение вопроса о взаимодействии студентов и работодателей, учета и мониторинга практик и трудоустройств студентов путем разработки автоматизированной информационной системы. Приведены аналоги программных продуктов, решающих поставленные задачи. Определен функционал для разработки собственного программного продукта

Математическое моделирование плавления массивных ледяных структур применительно к роботизированным аппаратам глубинного бурения

Математическое моделирование процессов тепло- и массопереноса, протекающих совместно, в условиях плавления больших массивов льда при движении криобота под действием силы тяжести. В работе варьировались параметры криобота, а также температура льда. По результатам численного моделирования было установлено значительное охлаждение поверхности криобота.
