The 2-generalized knot group determines the knot
Generalized knot groups were introduced independently by Kelly
(1991) and Wada (1992). We prove that determines the unoriented knot
type and sketch a proof of the same for for .Comment: 4 page
High-resolution [C II] imaging of HDF850.1 reveals a merging galaxy at z=5.185
New high-resolution maps with the IRAM Interferometer of the redshifted [C
II] 158 micron line and the 0.98mm dust continuum of HDF850.1 at z = 5.185 show
the source to have a blueshifted northern component and a redshifted southern
component, with a projected separation of 0.3 arcsec, or 2 kpc. We interpret
these components as primordial galaxies that are merging to form a larger
galaxy. We think it is the resulting merger-driven starburst that makes
HDF850.1 an ultraluminous infrared galaxy, with an L(IR) of 1E13 Lsun. The
observed line and continuum brightness temperatures and the constant
line-to-continuum ratio across the source imply (1) high [C II] line optical
depth, (2) a [C II] excitation temperature of the same order as the dust
temperature, and (3) dust continuum emission that is nearly optically thick at
158 microns. These conclusions for HDF850.1 probably also apply to other
high-redshift submillimeter galaxies and quasar hosts in which the [C II] 158
micron line has been detected, as indicated by their roughly constant [C
II]-to-158 micron continuum ratios, in sharp contrast to the large dispersion
in their [C II]-to-FIR luminosity ratios. In brightness temperature units, the
[C II] line luminosity is about the same as the predicted CO(1-0) luminosity,
implying that the [C II] line can also be used to estimate the molecular gas
mass, with the same assumptions as for CO.Comment: Accepted by Astronomy and Astrophysic
{BiQ} Analyzer {HiMod}: An Interactive Software Tool for High-throughput Locus-specific Analysis of 5-Methylcytosine and its Oxidized Derivatives
Recent data suggest important biological roles for oxidative modifications of methylated cytosines, specifically hydroxymethylation, formylation and carboxylation. Several assays are now available for profiling these DNA modifications genome-wide as well as in targeted, locus-specific settings. Here we present BiQ Analyzer HiMod, a user-friendly software tool for sequence alignment, quality control and initial analysis of locus-specific DNA modification data. The software supports four different assay types, and it leads the user from raw sequence reads to DNA modification statistics and publication-quality plots. BiQ Analyzer HiMod combines well-established graphical user interface of its predecessor tool, BiQ Analyzer HT, with new and extended analysis modes. BiQ Analyzer HiMod also includes updates of the analysis workspace, an intuitive interface, a custom vector graphics engine and support of additional input and output data formats. I will say a few words about Dickerson, both because Michael has made it impossible not to and also because in some ways it represents the very best about how all of the wonderful, tried-and-true processes of the SG\u27s Office ought to work. Dickerson was very much like the other case that Michael talked about (which is one of, I think, two significant privilege controversies which the Independent Counsel laid on our doorstep). These cases may have appeared to the outside world as paradigmatically cases in which we would be hearing from the White House, or talking to the White House, or thinking about things other than the long-term institutional interests of the United States. But absolutely nothing of the sort ever happened, nor was any effort made by any political person to intrude in our decision-making policy
Open and hidden charm production in heavy ion collisions at ultrarelativistic energies
We consider the production of the open charm and J/psi mesons in heavy ion collisions at BNL RHIC. We discuss several recently developed pictures for J/psi production and argue that a measurement at RHIC energies is crucial for disentangling these di erent descriptions
Structure and thermodynamics of a mixture of patchy and spherical colloids: a multi-body association theory with complete reference fluid information
A mixture of solvent particles with short-range, directional interactions and
solute particles with short-range, isotropic interactions that can bond
multiple times is of fundamental interest in understanding liquids and
colloidal mixtures. Because of multi-body correlations predicting the structure
and thermodynamics of such systems remains a challenge. Earlier Marshall and
Chapman developed a theory wherein association effects due to interactions
multiply the partition function for clustering of particles in a reference
hard-sphere system. The multi-body effects are incorporated in the clustering
process, which in their work was obtained in the absence of the bulk medium.
The bulk solvent effects were then modeled approximately within a second order
perturbation approach. However, their approach is inadequate at high densities
and for large association strengths. Based on the idea that the clustering of
solvent in a defined coordination volume around the solute is related to
occupancy statistics in that defined coordination volume, we develop an
approach to incorporate the complete information about hard-sphere clustering
in a bulk solvent at the density of interest. The occupancy probabilities are
obtained from enhanced sampling simulations but we also develop a concise
parametric form to model these probabilities using the quasichemical theory of
solutions. We show that incorporating the complete reference information
results in an approach that can predict the bonding state and thermodynamics of
the colloidal solute for a wide range of system conditions.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1601.0438
Bi-Lipschitz geometry of weighted homogeneous surface singularities
We show that a weighted homogeneous complex surface singularity is metrically
conical (i.e., bi-Lipschitz equivalent to a metric cone) only if its two lowest
weights are equal. We also give an example of a pair of weighted homogeneous
complex surface singularities that are topologically equivalent but not

The Influence of Anterior Root Stimulation (S2) in Deafferented Spinal Cord Injury Men on Cavernous Electrical Activity
Computer Simulation Study of the Phase Behavior and Structural Relaxation in a Gel-Former Modeled by Three Body Interactions
We report a computer simulation study of a model gel-former obtained by
modifying the three-body interactions of the Stillinger-Weber potential for
silicon. This modification reduces the average coordination number and
consequently shifts the liquid-gas phase coexistence curve to low densities,
thus facilitating the formation of gels without phase separation. At low
temperatures and densities, the structure of the system is characterized by the
presence of long linear chains interconnected by a small number of three
coordinated junctions at random locations. At small wave-vectors the static
structure factor shows a non-monotonic dependence on temperature, a behavior
which is due to the competition between the percolation transition of the
particles and the stiffening of the formed chains. We compare in detail the
relaxation dynamics of the system as obtained from molecular dynamics with the
one obtained from Monte Carlo dynamics. We find that the bond correlation
function displays stretched exponential behavior at moderately low temperatures
and densities, but exponential relaxation at low temperatures. The bond
lifetime shows an Arrhenius behavior, independent of the microscopic dynamics.
For the molecular dynamics at low temperatures, the mean squared displacement
and the (coherent and incoherent) intermediate scattering function display at
intermediate times a dynamics with ballistic character and we show that this
leads to compressed exponential relaxation. For the Monte Carlo dynamics we
find always an exponential or stretched exponential relaxation. Thus we
conclude that the compressed exponential relaxation observed in experiments is
due to the out-of-equilibrium dynamics
