    Virtual Walkthrough to Pocket D Building

    The main objective of this project, virtual walkthrough to Pocket D building project is to provide a 3D simulation walkthrough environment to the Pocket D building via UTP website. Looking at the current situation, the UTP website provides 2D images of the campus building. No information was provided about the usage of lecture theatres, staff offices nor cafeterias. Since the current website did not provide enough information of the Pocket D building, a simulation or walkthrough project has come to an idea to implement. This project, undertaken by the writer is to develop a virtual environment of a certain section of the university’s building using non immersive VR. The section to be concentrated in this project would be the Pocket D located within the campus. The project could benefit to public on having a clearer picture what a real campus in a 3D setting. The concepts of visual feedback and interaction feedback and acoustic feedback are considered in this virtual environment. All these concepts are incorporated to create a realistic virtual environment and this is where this project is going to concentrated on

    Prevalence of multidrug resistance Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in chickens slaughtered in selected markets, Malaysia

    The objectives of this study were to determine the occurrence of Campylobacter spp. in live chickens sold at wet markets in Selangor, Malaysia and the multidrug resistance (MDR) profiles of the isolates. Cloacal swabs were taken from the chickens before slaughter and their caecal mucosae were swabbed after slaughter. Of the 90 chickens examined, 68 (75.6%) were positive for Campylobacter. Campylobacter were recovered from caecal swabs (53/90) and cloacal swabs (34/90) and Campylobacter coli (46 isolates) were identified slightly more than Campylobacter jejuni (41 isolates), but these differences were not significant (p<0.05). The most frequently observed resistance was to cephalothin (95.5%), followed by tetracycline (80.8%), erythromycin (51.4%), enrofloxacin (42.4%) and gentamicin (24.4%). Multidrug resistance (resistant to four or more antibiotics) was detected in 35.3% isolates. Campylobacter jejuni showed nine resistance profiles and the most common was to gentamicin-eryhtromycin-enrofloxacin-cephalothin-tetracycline (32.4%) combination while C. coli showed six profiles, with cephalothin-tetracycline (32.2%) combination being most common

This paper discussed the occurrence of helicobacters in cats and dogs (pet animals) as well as in chickens and pigs (food animals) and the zoonotic potential of these organisms in animals that may infections cause in humans.     Myanmar: the ties between health and democracy

    In this viewpoint, we examined the ongoing crisis of the Myanmar health system following the military takeover of 1 February 2021, the health challenges faced by the population, and the tragic conditions in which the health professionals find themselves. We describe the efforts undertaken by representatives of the democratic health and university institutions to create the conditions for a resumption of the call for peace throughout the country and strengthen the resilience of the health system. In particular, we present the interim health service strategy devised by the Myanmar Ministry of Health (MOH), as appointed by the democratic government. The MOH's plan represents the entry point to use health as a bridge for peace and restoration of democracy and human rights, showing that the health sector of a country can be reshaped and revitalized in times of great adversity

    Isolation of Campylobacter and Salmonella from houseflies (Musca domestica) in a university campus and a poultry farm in Selangor, Malaysia

    Insects, in particular house flies and cockroaches, have been shown to be associated with the spread of pathogens in livestock farms and in human disease outbreaks: among these pathogens are salmonellae and campylobacters. A total of 60 flies were caught in three locations: an animal teaching facility and a cafeteria in a university campus, and a poultry farm. Five percent (5%) and 13.3% of flies sampled were found to carry Campylobacter and Salmonella, respectively

    This paper proposed a fingerprint based school debit transaction system using minutiae matching biometric technology. This biometric cashless transaction system intensely shortens the luncheon line traffic and labour force compared to conventional cash payment system. Furthermore, contrast with card cashless transaction system, fingerprint cashless transaction system with benefit that user need not carry additional identification object and remember lengthy password. The implementation of this cashless transaction system provides a more organize, reliable and efficient way to operate the school debit transaction system.

    Helicobacter pullorum in broiler chickens and the farm environment: A one health approach

    Aim: This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of Helicobacter pullorum in broiler chickens and their farm environment. Materials and Methods: The ceca from 100 broiler chickens from ten farms were sampled from processing sites or markets. The cecal contents were aseptically collected from each cecum and cultured. The farms were visited, and environmental samples were collected which included water, house flies, floor swabs and soils in chicken houses. Results: H. pullorum was present in 51% of the broilers; 17.5% of the flies were found to carry H. pullorum and Campylobacter spp., 30% of house floors were positive, while all water samples were negative. Conclusion: Flies could have picked up the organisms from the chickens' feces and/or the environment of the chicken houses or they could be one of the sources in the spread of the organisms. This study also showed that broiler chickens are potential reservoirs for H. pullorum and may serve as a source of infection for humans through the food chain

    Cross-sectional surveys were conducted to determine the prevalence and associated risk factors of Taenia solium cysticercosis in pigs within Nay Pyi Taw area, Myanmar. Meat inspection in three slaughterhouses, ELISA test, and questionnaire surveys were conducted in this study. Three hundred pigs were inspected in slaughterhouses and 364 pigs were randomly selected and examined from 203 households from three townships in Nay Pyi Taw area. The prevalence of porcine cysticercosis in meat inspection was 23.67% (71/300). Seroprevalence of T. solium cysticercosis in pigs in the study area was 15.93% (58/364). Significant associated risk factors with T. solium cysticercosis were gender (OR = 3.0; 95% CI = 1.7-5.4), increased age (OR = 2.3; 95% CI = 1.2-4.2), husbandry system (OR = 5.1; 95% CI = 2.4-11.2), feed type (OR = 16.9; 95% CI = 2.3-124.3), not using anthelmintics in pigs (OR = 11.9; 95% CI = 5.0-28.5), not using anthelmintics in owner (OR = 2.5; 95% CI = 1.4-4.4), no hand-washing before feeding (OR = 31.5; 95% CI = 4.3-230.9), and pork consumption of owner (OR = 37.4; 95% CI = 9.0-156.1) in the study area.     Fuzzy Logic Based Perceptual Image Hashing Algorithm in Malaysian Banknotes Detection System for the Visually Impaired

    Visually impaired persons have difficulty in business that dealing with banknote. This paper proposed a Malaysian banknotes detection system using image processing technology and fuzzy logic algorithm for the visually impaired. The Malaysian banknote reader will first capture the inserted banknote image, sending it to the cloud server for image processing via Wi-Fi medium. The cloud server is established to receive the banknote image sending from the banknote reader, processing them using perceptual hashing based image searching and fuzzy logic algorithm, then return the detected banknote’s value results back to the banknote reader. The banknote reader will display the results in terms of voice message played on the mini speaker attached on it, to allow visually impaired persons knowing the banknote’s value. This hardware mechanism reduces the size and costs for the banknote reader carried by the visually impaired persons. Experimental results showed that this Malaysian banknotes detection system reached an accuracy beyond 95% by running test on 600 different worn, torn and new Malaysian banknotes. After the banknote image being taken by the banknote reader’s camera, the system able to detect the banknote value in about 480 mili-seconds to 560 mili-seconds for a single sided banknote recognition. The banknotes detection speed was also comparable with human observers reading banknotes, with the response of 1.0908 second per banknote slight difference reading time. The IoT and image processing concepts were successfully blended and it provides an alternative to aid the visually impaired person their daily business transaction activities in a better way
