Butterflies are important for the ecosystem and human life. The presence of butterflies has also become an attraction for nature-based tourism. Langsa Urban Forest (LUF) is an ecotourism site in Langsa City with various biodiversity, including butterflies. For now, data on butterfly diversity in LUF is limited to the active collection using insect nets. This research aimed to complete the database of butterflies in LUF by passive collection to support conservation in LUF. Data was collected for 3 months in the early rainy season (from late August to October 2023), with 8 repetitions using the bait trap method. Results showed 13 species from 3 families with 37 individuals. There were 7 species newly recorded, making a total of 43 species in LUF. From 2 different traps used, 9 species preferred banana bait, 6 species preferred shrimp paste bait, and 2 species trapped in both baits. From 13 species collected by bait trap, 11 species are categorized as Not Evaluated and 2 species are Least Concern by the IUCN Red List

Langsa Urban Forest (LUF) is a 10-ha of the isolated urban forest in Langsa, Aceh, which is maintained to preserve urban biodiversity such as the butterfly. No recent study has been done in this area on butterfly biodiversity including the diversity and plant's potential for host and food plant sources. A one-month survey in July 2021 using the standard walk method on four transects was conducted. There are 36 species recorded during this study including 5 families, with Nymphalidae as the most abundant family and Leptosia nina as the most abundant species. Shannon-Wiener diversity index was used for this recent research with the value of H’ 1.78–2.78 and the Evenness index with scale 0.66–0.94. Most of the species have broad geographical ranges, with 3 of them restricted to the Indomalayan realm. There are 117 plants were recorded which 33 species supposed as host and food plants divided into 26 as host plants, 11 as food plants, and 4 for both. No specific plants threatened the collected butterflies, but it's important since providing diversity data

Indonesia is a mega biodiversity country and is host to many endemic butterfly species. However, data about Indonesian butterflies is still very limited due to some constraints of research personnel capacity, budget, challenging access to many islands, and other factors. This paper aims to inform a new direction using the Kupunesia App as a breakthrough and to invite more citizen science participation to accelerate butterfly research in Indonesia. The involvement of butterfly enthusiasts as citizen scientists has increased the knowledge as can be seen within one month of the launching of the App in November 2022. About 500 people have downloaded the App, 182 people have contributed their data to Kupunesia App, 342 checklists were recorded and 321 species were observed from various locations in Indonesia. This momentum should be maintained so that it can effectively and sustainably support citizen scientists

ABSTRAK   Wafa, Imti Yazil. 2013. Kajian Jenis dan Ekologi Kupu-Kupu di Taman Wisata Alam Gunung Baung Kecamatan Purwodadi Kabupaten Pasuruan. Skripsi, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Negeri Malang. Pembimbing: (I) Sofia Ery Rahayu, S. Pd, M. Si (II) Drs. Spesimen Kupu-kupu selanjutnya diidentifikasi dengan buku Practical Guide to the Butterflies of Bogor Botanic Garden dan Kupu-kupu Gunung Ciremai dan Sekitarnya.
