    アスコルビン酸ステアリン酸エステルを投与したマウスにおける鉛毒性の軽減

We aimed to evaluate roles of hepatic ascorbic acid in ddY strain mice after a single injection of lead acetate (100μmol/kg body weight, i.p.). Lead decreased glutathione content, inhibited glutathione S-transferase activity, and increased calcium content in the liver four days after the injection. These lead-induced alterations were significantly antagonized by the treatment of mice with a diet containing 1(w/w) % ascorbyl stearate ester (ASE) for three days before and four days after lead injection, whereas ascorbate content was largely elevated in the livers of animals treated with both lead and ASE. Furthermore, the production of NADPH was enhanced by not only lead injection but also ASE-feeding. These results suggest that ASE-feeding could ameliorate cell damage through the restoration of intracellular redox states

A Cluster of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infections in a Hospital Ward for Adult Immunocompromised Patients

Four male patients admitted to the same ward in the first half of September 201Y were identified to have respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)infection. Their ages ranged from 49 to 85 years(median 72.5). One patient was infected with human immunodeficiency virus and three patients had hematological malignancies. Following immuno-chromatological testing with a nasal cavity swab, RSV infection was diagnosed. Although blood and sputum cultures were performed in three patients, no significant bacteria were detected. Two cases responded to supportive therapy. However, one patient died secondary to multiple myeloma, and another patient developed pneumonia and died with an exacerbation of leukemia. RSV infections in immunocompromised hosts are associated with a poor prognosis. Early diagnosis will facilitate isolation of infected individuals to prevent hospital outbreaks

Measurement of the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 lifetime at Belle II

We report on a measurement of the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 lifetime using Ωc0Ωπ+\Omega_c^0 \to \Omega^-\pi^+ decays reconstructed in e+eccˉe^+e^-\to c\bar{c} data collected by the Belle II experiment and corresponding to 207 fb1207~{\rm fb^{-1}} of integrated luminosity. The result, τ(Ωc0)=243±48(stat)±11(syst) fs\rm\tau(\Omega_c^0)=243\pm48( stat)\pm11(syst)~fs, agrees with recent measurements indicating that the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 is not the shortest-lived weakly decaying charmed baryon
