Analysis of load displacement in grape harvesters and corresponding effect on dynamic weighing system under laboratory conditions
Harvester bin dynamic weighing systems are affected by a number of sources of variation such as field slopes and load displacement. In grape harvesters, the nature of the material (wine grapes and wine grape juice) and its relative composition can vary significantly. Laboratory tests were carried out using hydrogel spheres and water to simulate field dynamic conditions during harvest. This paper quantifies the sources of variation, submitting an instrumented grape harvester to graduated inclination under shaking conditions. Load displacement is characterized using image analysis from recorded movies on four different pitch axis motions of the machine: front to horizontal, horizontal to rear, rear to horizontal and horizontal to front. Differences in the displacement of the load in relation to the machine inclination and to the load composition have been addressed

Hydrophosphinylation of Styrenes Catalysed by WellâDefined sâBlock Bimetallics
Advancing the applications of s-block heterobimetallic complexes in catalysis, we report the use of potassium magnesiate (PMDETA)2K2Mg(CH2SiMe3)4 [PMDETA=N,N,Nâ,Nâ,Nââ-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine] for the catalytic hydrophosphinylation of styrenes under mild conditions. Exploiting chemical cooperation, this bimetallic approach offers greater catalytic activity and chemoselectivity than the single-metal components KCH2SiMe3 and Mg(CH2SiMe3)2. Stoichiometric studies between (PMDETA)2K2Mg(CH2SiMe3)4 and Ph2P(O)H help to elucidate the constitution of the active catalytic species, and illustrate the influence of donors on the potassium cation coordination, and how this may impact catalytic activity. Mechanistic investigations support that the rate determining step is the insertion of the olefinic substrate
Effect of a multidisciplinary treatment program on eating behavior in overweight and obese preschool children
Background: The effects of multidisciplinary treatment programs on eating behavior in overweight preschoolaged children are largely unknown. We evaluated a multidisciplinary intervention program on eating behavior in 3- to 5-year-old overweight children, comparing them with children given standard treatment. We also assessed the parental eating behavior changes and investigated associations between parents and children. Methods: We randomized 75 children to a multidisciplinary intervention or to a standard care program. During a 16-week period, children and parents in the multidisciplinary group were given dietary advice, physical activity sessions and, for parents only, psychological counseling. Children and parents in the standard group visited a pediatrician 3 times and were given information on a healthy lifestyle. At baseline, after 16 weeks, and after 12 months, children were measured and parents completed the Dutch Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ-C) for their children and the DEBQ for themselves. Results: At the three time points, 70 (93.3%), 57 (91.9%), and 42 (73.7%) DEBQ-Cs were analyzed. We found no differences in the changes in eating behavior between the two groups over time. In both groups, there was a significant increase in restrained eating behavior present at 16 weeks, however, this was no longer present at 12 months. We found no associations between changes in eating behavior between the children and their parents. Conclusions: A multidisciplinary obesity intervention program in preschool-aged children induced more restrained eating behavior between baseline and 16 weeks. However, there was no difference with the children in the standard care group
Planetary Nebula Abundances and Morphology: Probing the Chemical Evolution of the Milky Way
This paper presents a homogeneous study of abundances in a sample of 79
northern galactic planetary nebulae whose morphological classes have been
uniformly determined. Ionic abundances and plasma diagnostics were derived from
selected optical line strengths in the literature, and elemental abundances
were estimated with the Ionization Correction Factor developed by Kingsbourgh &
Barlow (1994). We compare the elemental abundances to the final yields obtained
from stellar evolution models of low-and intermediate-mass stars, and we
confirm that most Bipolar planetary nebulae have high nitrogen and helium
abundance, and are the likely progeny of stars with main-sequence mass larger
than 3 solar masses. We derive =0.27, and discuss the implication of such
a high ratio in connection with the solar neon abundance. We determine the
galactic gradients of oxygen and neon, and found Delta log (O/H)/Delta R=-0.01
dex/kpc$ and Delta log (Ne/H)/Delta R=-0.01 dex/kpc. These flat PN gradients do
not reconcile with galactic metallicity gradients flattening with time.Comment: The Astrophysical Journal, in pres
Phosphorus donors in highly strained silicon
The hyperfine interaction of phosphorus donors in fully strained Si thin
films grown on virtual SiGe substrates with is
determined via electrically detected magnetic resonance. For highly strained
epilayers, hyperfine interactions as low as 0.8 mT are observed, significantly
below the limit predicted by valley repopulation. Within a Green's function
approach, density functional theory (DFT) shows that the additional reduction
is caused by the volume increase of the unit cell and a local relaxation of the
Si ligands of the P donor.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure
