Deformation monitoring of high-latitude permafrost region of northeastern China with time series inSAR technique
Abstract. Permafrost distributed in northeast China is the only high-altitude permafrost in China. The deformation monitoring over this permafrost region is of great importance to local climate change and ecological environments. This study focuses on the deformation monitoring of high-latitude permafrost in northeast China with time series InSAR technique. The spatial distribution characteristics, the annual deformation rates and the temporal deformation evolutions of permafrost could be retrieved from multi-temporal InSAR processing with Sentinel-1 TOPS datasets. This work concludes that time series InSAR technique could help to retrieve a comprehensive and reliable permafrost deformation, while a long time-series of displacements facilitated to better understand permafrost kinematics.</p
Mass movement susceptibility mapping using satellite optical imagery compared with InSAR monitoring: Zigui County, Three Gorges region, China
Mass movements on steep slopes are a major hazard to
communities and infrastructure in the Three Gorges
region, China. Developing susceptibility maps of mass
movements is therefore very important in both current
and future land use planning. This study employed
satellite optical imagery and an ASTER GDEM (15 m)
to derive various parameters (namely geology; slope
gradient; proximity to drainage networks and proximity
to lineaments) in order to create a GIS-based map of
mass movement susceptibility. This map was then
evaluated using highly accurate deformation signals
processed using the Persistent Scatterer (PS) InSAR
technique. Areas of high susceptibility correspond well
to points of high subsidence, which provides a strong
support of our susceptibility map

Research on tectonic causes of numerous ground fissures development mechanism and its unbalance distribution between eastern and western of Weihe basin
Based on the high precision GPS monitoring data from 2001 to 2008, the finite ELEMENT dynamic model of Weihe basin is established, combined with its tectonic characteristics Using above model the regional crustal stress field characteristics is studied, and the intrinsic relationship between the tectonic stress field and numerous ground fissures of Weihe basin is also analyzed thoroughly. For the first time the inherent dynamic relationship between the tectonic stress field and numerous ground fissures of Weihe basin is revealed quantitatively by the spatial geodetic, And the root causes of its unbalanced distribution between eastern and western of Weihe Basin is also revealed .. The results show that the present crustal stress fields of Weihe basin have significant difference, the eastern part mainly shows extension stress field with NW-SE direction while the western part mainly shows compression stress field with NE-SW direction, and overall showed relatively sinistral movement trend, which has good inheritance with the regional previous long-term tectonic deformation. The analysis discloses that the regional tensional stress field with NW-SN direction is the power source mechanism of numerous ground fissures development in the central and eastern of Weihe basin, while the differences of tectonic stress fields is also the fundamental reason for cracks unbalanced development in the eastern and western of Weihe Basin. Further analysis shows that the ground fissures in the Weihe Basin have strong tectonic characteristic, they are shaped by active faults with creep slipping ruptured soil under above power source mechanism. It is believed that the results in this paper could provide important information for the prevention of basin ground fissures disasters and city safety constructions

Evolution of Hard X-Ray Spectra Along the Branches in Cir X-1
Using the data from the PCA and HEXTE on board the RXTE satellite, we
investigate the evolution of the 3-200 keV spectra of the peculiar low mass
X-ray binary (LMXB) Cir X-1 along the branches on its hardness-intensity
diagram (HID) from the vertical horizontal branch (VHB), through the horizontal
horizontal branch (HHB) and normal branch (NB), to the flaring branch (FB). We
detect a power-law hard component in the spectra. It is found that the derived
photon indices () of the power-law hard component are correlated with
the position on the HID. The power-law component dominates the X-ray emission
of Cir X-1 in the energy band higher than keV. The fluxes of the
power-law component are compared with those of the bremsstrahlung component in
the spectra. A possible origin of the power-law hard component is discussed.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, ApJ Letter accepte
Water-Triggered Luminescent "Nano-bombs" Based on Supra-(Carbon Nanodots)
Novel luminescent "nano-bombs" based on a self-assembled system of carbon-nanodots, termed supra-CDs, are developed. The luminescence of these luminescent "nano-bombs" depends strongly on water contact; they show weak emission in toluene and decompose in contact with water, resulting in strong photoluminescence. Paper coated with these "nano-bombs" is successfully applied for water-jet printing of luminescence patterns and the mapping of human sweat-pore patterns
