    The Implementation of Reciprocal Technique in Narrative Text to Increase the Students’ Reading Comprehension

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui apakah penerapan RTT di teks narasi dapat meningkatkan peningkatan pemahaman membaca siswa, dan 2) mengetahui masalah-maslah yang dihadapi siswa selama pengajaran membaca melalui RTT. Data diperoleh dari pre-test dan post-test dan juga dari observasi dan wawancara. Obyek penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPS. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pre-test siswa adalah 45.67 dan nilai rata-rata post-test mereka adalah 64.64, dimana peningkatan nilai mereka adalah 18.96. Berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara selama perlakuan, ada masalah-masalah yang dihadapi siswa dalam pengajaran pemahaman membaca melalui RTT. Ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa RTT dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa dan siswa mempunyai masalah-masalah dalam penerapan empat strategi dari RTT.This research is aimed to: 1) find out whether implementing RTT in narrative text can increase the students’ reading comprehension achievement, and 2) find out the problems faced by the students in learning reading comprehension through RTT. The data were obtained from the pre-test and post-test and also from the observation and interview. The sample of this research was XI IPS 3 class. The result shows that the students’ mean score of the pre-test is 45.67 and their mean score of the post-test is 64.64, in which their gain score is 18.96. Based on the obsevation and interview during the treatments, there were problems faced by the students in learning reading comprehension through RTT. It can be concluded that RTT can increase the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text  and the students have problems in applying the four main strategies of RTT.

    The using of herbal medicine has increasing rapidly recently. One of the medical plant that has been developing is bawang sabrang. The aim of the research is to find out the proper dosage of humic acid and empty palm bunches compost for cultivated of bawang sabrang. Research was conducted at experimental field Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan about 25 m above sea level started from June until October 2014, used randomized block design, with two factors which are humic acid at several doses (0 g/plot, 1 g/plot, 2 g/plot, 3 g/plot) and palm empty fruit bunches compost at several doses (0 kg/plot, 0,5 kg/plot, 1 kg/plot dan 1,5 kg/plot) and was repeated three times. Data were analyzed by using ANOVA and continued with Duncan. Parameters were observed is net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, number of tillers, fresh bulb weight and number of bulb. The result showed that the effect of humic acid were increasing the net assimilation rate at fifth week after planting (WAP). The effect of empty palm bunches compost were increased the relative growth at four week and net assimilation rate at fifth week. The interaction between humic acid and empty palm bunches compost were increased the net assimilation rate at fifth week, but the effect of giving humic acid and empty palm bunches compost at number of tillers, fresh bulb weight and number of bulb parameters has not real

    The Implementation of Projected Picture in Increasing Students\u27 English Vocabulary Achievement

    The students’ difficulty in memorizing the English vocabulary is one of problems faced by the students. Therefore, this research was conducted to find out whether there is difference of the students’ English vocabulary achievement before and after the implementation of projected picture and to investigate whether or not it can be used to increase students’ English vocabulary achievement. The research was conducted in SMPN 1 Seputih Banyak, in which VII A as experimental class. The design used was one-group pretest-post test design. The result can be seen from the mean score of the students. The mean score of pretest was 49.58 and post test was 68.48. It means that there is an increase of 18.90. The t-test result shows that t-ratio higher than t-table; the result is 20.846>2.042, with the level of significant is p<0.05 and significance 2-tailed is p=.000. Moreover, based on subtopics taught, it was found that subtopic ‘things at school’ had the highest difference than others. Based on result above, it can be concluded that there is difference of the students’ English vocabulary achievement before and after being taught through projected picture and it can increase the students’ English vocabulary achievement

    Pengaruh Pemberian Vitamin a Dan E Dalam Ransum Terhadap Daya Tunas, Daya Tetas, Bobot Tetas Dan Daya Hidup Doc Ayam Kedu Hitam Yang Dipelihara in Situ

    The research aimed to examine the effect of vitamin A and E in the diet on the fertility, hatchability, hatching weight and Day Old Chicken (DOC) viability of kedu black chicken reared in situ. This research used 20 males and 100 females kedu black chicken, around 1 years old with average body weight of 2071.43 ± 41.03 kg and 1540,83±46,58kg, respectively. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments applied were T0 = basal diet, T1 = basal diet + vitamin E 20IU/100g, T2 = basal diet + vitamin A 2000IU/100g, T3 = basal diet + vitamin A 2000IU + vitamin E 20IU/100g. Basal diet was formulated with energy metabolism (EM) of = 2687,75 kkal/kg, crude protein (CP) = 17,62%, 12,68% crude fiber (CF), 3,66% ekstract eter (EE), Ca = 2,78%, P = 0,82%, vitamin A = 58333,33 IU/100gr, vitamin E = 2,05 IU/100gr. Parameters measured were fertility, hatchability, hatching weight, and DOC viability of kedu black chicken. The results showed that the addition of vitamin A and vitamin E in the diet did not significantly affect fertility, hatchability, hatching weight and DOC viability of kedu black chicken. The conclusion of this research was that addition of 2000 IU/100gr vitamin A dan 20 IU/100gr vitamin E and their combinations in the diet was not yet able to increase the fertility, hatchability, hatching weight and DOC viability of kedu black chicken

    Growth and Production of Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) to the Application of Biofertilizer in theVariety of Plants Media. The objective of this research was to know growth and production ofshallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) to the application of biofertilizer in the variety of plants media, itwas conducted at Tanjung Selamat, Sunggal, Medan with altitude ± 25 meter above the surface ofsea, began January until April 2012, by using a Randomized Block Design with two factors. Firstfactor was plants media consist of four level : M1 (Ultisol : Sand (2:1)), M2 (Vermicompost : Sand(2:1)), M3 (Ultisol : Vermicompost : Sand (2:1:1)), M4 (Ultisol : Vermicompost : Sand (2:2:1))and the second factor is biofertilizer consist of three level, K1 (100 KG/HA), K2 (200 KG/ha), K3(300 kg/ha). The parameter observed were plant height, tiller number, leaf number, fresh weightbulb per sample, fresh weight bulb per plot, dry weight bulb per sample, dry weight bulb perplot,and clove number per sample. The result showed that plants media treatments influentialsignificantly to parameters : plant height 4-7 week after plant,tiller number 6-7 week after plant,leaf number 3-7 week after plant, fresh weight bulb per sample, fresh weight bulb per plot, and wasnot significantly to parameter plant height 2-3 week after plant, tiller number 2-5 week after plant,leaf number 2 week after plant and clove number per sample.
