Effect of gauge boson mass on the phase structure of QED
Dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (DCSB) in QED with finite gauge
boson mass is
studied in the framework of the rainbow approximation of Dyson-Schwinger
equations.
By adopting a simple gauge boson propagator ansatz at finite temperature, we
first numerically solve the
Dyson-Schwinger equation for the fermion self-energy to
determine the chiral phase diagram of QED with finite gauge boson mass
at finite chemical potential and finite temperature, then we study the
effect of the finite gauge mass on the phase diagram of QED. It is found
that the gauge boson mass suppresses the occurrence of
DCSB. The area of the region in the chiral phase diagram corresponding to
DCSB phase decreases as
the gauge boson mass increases. In
particular, chiral symmetry gets restored when is above a
certain critical value. In this paper, we use DCSB to describe the
antiferromagnetic order and use the gauge boson mass to describe the
superconducting order. Our results give qualitatively a physical
picture on the competition and coexistence between antiferromagnetic
order and superconducting orders in high temperature cuprate superconductors.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure
Scientific Impacts of Wind Direction Errors
An assessment on the scientific impact of random errors in wind direction (less than 45 deg) retrieved from space-based observations under weak wind (less than 7 m/s ) conditions was made. averages, and these weak winds cover most of the tropical, sub-tropical, and coastal oceans. Introduction of these errors in the semi-daily winds causes, on average, 5% changes of the yearly mean Ekman and Sverdrup volume transports computed directly from the winds, respectively. These poleward movements of water are the main mechanisms to redistribute heat from the warmer tropical region to the colder high- latitude regions, and they are the major manifestations of the ocean's function in modifying Earth's climate. Simulation by an ocean general circulation model shows that the wind errors introduce a 5% error in the meridional heat transport at tropical latitudes. The simulation also shows that the erroneous winds cause a pile-up of warm surface water in the eastern tropical Pacific, similar to the conditions during El Nino episode. Similar wind directional errors cause significant change in sea-surface temperature and sea-level patterns in coastal oceans in a coastal model simulation. Previous studies have shown that assimilation of scatterometer winds improves 3-5 day weather forecasts in the Southern Hemisphere. When directional information below 7 m/s was withheld, approximately 40% of the improvement was los
A proposed reaction channel for the synthesis of the superheavy nucleus Z = 109
We apply a statistical-evaporation model (HIVAP) to calculate the cross
sections of superheavy elements, mainly about actinide targets and compare with
some available experimental data. A reaction channel Si + Am is
proposed for the synthesis of the element Z = 109 and the cross section is
estimated.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, 2 tables; two typos are corrected in Ref. [12]

Total Reaction Cross Section in an Isospin-Dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics (IDQMD) Model
The isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IDQMD) model is used to
study the total reaction cross section . The energy-dependent Pauli
volumes of neutrons and protons have been discussed and introduced into the
IDQMD calculation to replace the widely used energy-independent Pauli volumes.
The modified IDQMD calculation can reproduce the experimental well
for both stable and exotic nuclei induced reactions. Comparisons of the
calculated induced by with different initial density
distributions have been performed. It is shown that the calculation by using
the experimentally deduced density distribution with a long tail can fit the
experimental excitation function better than that by using the
Skyrme-Hartree-Fock calculated density without long tails. It is also found
that at high energy is sensitive to the long tail of density
distribution.Comment: 4 page, 4 fig
Competitions of magnetism and superconductivity in FeAs-based materials
Using the numerical unrestricted Hartree-Fock approach, we study the ground
state of a two-orbital model describing newly discovered FeAs-based
superconductors. We observe the competition of a mode spin-density
wave and the superconductivity as the doping concentration changes. There might
be a small region in the electron-doping side where the magnetism and
superconductivity coexist. The superconducting pairing is found to be spin
singlet, orbital even, and mixed s + d wave (even
parity).Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Phase diagram of a Bose-Fermi mixture in a one-dimensional optical lattice in terms of fidelity and entanglement
We study the ground-state phase diagram of a Bose-Fermi mixture loaded in a
one-dimensional optical lattice by computing the ground-state fidelity and
quantum entanglement. We find that the fidelity is able to signal quantum phase
transitions between the Luttinger liquid phase, the density-wave phase, and the
phase separation state of the system; and the concurrence can be used to signal
the transition between the density-wave phase and the Ising phase.Comment: 4 pages 3 figure
Density dependence of the "symmetry energy" in the lattice gas model
Isoscaling behavior of the statistical emission fragments from the
equilibrated sources with = 30 and = 30, 33, 36 and 39, resepectively,
is investigated in the framework of isospin dependent lattice gas model. The
dependences of isoscaling parameters on source isospin asymmetry,
temperature and freeze-out density are studied and the "symmetry energy" is
deduced from isoscaling parameters. Results show that "symmetry energy"
is insensitive to the change of temperature but follows the power-law
dependence on the freeze-out density . The later gives =
30 if the suitable asymmetric nucleon-nucleon potential
is taken. The effect of strength of asymmetry of nucleon-nucleon interaction
potential on the density dependence of the "symmetry energy" is dicussed.Comment: 5 pages, 4 page
