Addition to the scorpion fauna of the Manaus region (Brazil), with a description of two new species of Tityus from the canopy
Two new species belonging to the genus Tityus C.L. KOCH are described from the region of Manaus, Amazonas State, Brazil. Until now a total of 9 scorpion species have been listed from this region, which is the best known region of Brazilian Amazonia. Both new species were collected from the forest canopy by means of insecticial fogging. Even though other scorpion species have previously been collected in the canopy, we suggest that the new species represent the first known examples of species living exclusively in this environment

Final state interaction in with I=1/2 and 3/2 channels
The final state interaction contribution to decays is computed for the
channel within a light-front relativistic three-body model for
the final state interaction. The rescattering process between the kaon and two
pions in the decay channel is considered. The off-shell decay amplitude is a
solution of a four-dimensional Bethe-Salpeter equation, which is decomposed in
a Faddeev form. The projection onto the light-front of the coupled set of
integral equations is performed via a quasi-potential approach. The S-wave
interaction is introduced in the resonant isospin and the
non-resonant isospin channels. The numerical solution of the light-front
tridimensional inhomogeneous integral equations for the Faddeev components of
the decay amplitude is performed perturbatively. The loop-expansion converges
fast, and the three-loop contribution can be neglected in respect to the
two-loop results for the practical application. The dependence on the model
parameters in respect to the input amplitude at the partonic level is exploited
and the phase found in the experimental analysis, is fitted with an appropriate
choice of the real weights of the isospin components of the partonic amplitude.
The data suggests a small mixture of total isospin to the dominant
one. The modulus of the unsymmetrized decay amplitude, which presents a deep
valley and a following increase for masses above GeV, is fairly
reproduced. This suggests the assignment of the quantum numbers to the
isospin 1/2 resonance
Synopsis of the scorpion fauna of the Manaus region, Amazonas State, Brazil, with description of two new species
A synopsis and a determination key are proposed for the scorpion fauna of the Manaus region in the State of Amazonas, Brazil. Tityus raquelae new species (Buthidae) and Brotheas amazonicus new species (Chactidae) are described. Some comments concerning the taxonomic position and the geographic distribution of the species are also included
Diversity of the scorpion fauna from Amazonia; centres of endemism; new support for the theory of Pleistocene forest refuges
It has long been accepted that Amazonia and the coastal Atlantic forest of Brazil were subject to long dry periods in the late Pleistocene and post-Pleistocene. These climatic changes reduced forest cover to limited areas, defined as forest-refuges. The previous evidence for this theory was based on studies of few groups of animals and plants (birds, lizards, insects, and woody plants). In this paper, new data are given to support the theory of Pleistocene forest refuges, using evidence from scorpion biogeography. Distribution patterns of Buthid and Chactid scorpions are analysed and discussed, and several centres of endemism are characterised in Amazonia and in the Atlantic forest. The refuges proposed here correspond closely to several of the refuge areas proposed by PRANCE and HAFFER, and to some of the areas proposed by BROWN Jr. & AB'SABER
