We list a number of problems in several topics related to compactness in nonseparable Banach spaces. Namely, about the Hilbertian ball in its weak topology, spaces of continuous functions on Eberlein compacta, WCG Banach spaces, Valdivia compacta and Radon-Nikod\'{y}m compacta

Agronomic Potential and Nutritive Value of Promising \u3ci\u3eLeucaena\u3c/i\u3e Species in the Yucatan Peninsula

    Get PDF
Two experiments were carried out in order to evaluate the agronomic potential, the nutritive value and the tolerance to psyllid (Heteropsilla cubana) of nine Leucaena species. A randomized block design with four repetitions was used. There were significant (P\u3c 0.01) differences on dry matter production (i.e. leaf and twigs yield ). L. collinsii showed the most promising result, which could be related to its high psyllid tolerance. In a second experiment, the preference indices of Leucaena species was assessed with sixteen male pelibuey sheep in a cafeteria trial. There were significant (P\u3c 0.0001) differences among Leucaena species. L. esculenta paniculata was the species most preferred . There was no relationship between chemical composition (i.e. ADF, NDF, and polyphenols) and preference and psyllid tolerance

The radical character of the acenes: A density matrix renormalization group study

    Get PDF
We present a detailed investigation of the acene series using high-level wavefunction theory. Our ab-initio Density Matrix Renormalization Group algorithm has enabled us to carry out Complete Active Space calculations on the acenes from napthalene to dodecacene correlating the full pi-valence space. While we find that the ground-state is a singlet for all chain-lengths, examination of several measures of radical character, including the natural orbitals, effective number of unpaired electrons, and various correlation functions, suggests that the longer acene ground-states are polyradical in nature.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, supplementary material, to be published in J. Fimosis Fisiológica: circuncisión ¿Si o No?

    Get PDF

    Get PDF

Approach to strategic planning is an urgent requirement in the Ecuadorian educational system; special attention deserves the University for its proactive and anticipating needs and changes character. This transformation will not be provided without the necessary strategic intention that must pass to become part of the organizational culture of managers and institutions. Higher education strategic planning is a process highly inclusive, systemic, opened to criticism, where it does not discriminate any process, organized in various times or stages, which allows you to develop, among others, objectives and strategies in different time horizons, which need external and internal information responds to the demands of the environment and of the institution itself, and whose results require follow-up and constant evaluation to ensure the fulfillment of the goals. The identification, definition and improvements of processes and procedures are articulated to an inevitable developmental strategic intention that guarantees the achievement of a dynamic of continuous improvement but they must own a benchmark implicit in the Mission of the educational organization, which cannot be based in the decision and the future of one or several leaders display if not in the prospective study which is obtained by determining the relevance of different disciplines and institutions.

Structure and Expansion Law of HII Regions in structured Molecular Clouds

We present radiation-magnetohydrodynamic simulations aimed at studying evolutionary properties of H\,{\normalsize II} regions in turbulent, magnetised, and collapsing molecular clouds formed by converging flows in the warm neutral medium. We focus on the structure, dynamics and expansion laws of these regions. Once a massive star forms in our highly structured clouds, its ionising radiation eventually stops the accretion (through filaments) toward the massive star-forming regions. The new over-pressured H\,{\normalsize II} regions push away the dense gas, thus disrupting the more massive collapse centres. Also, because of the complex density structure in the cloud, the H\,{\normalsize II} regions expand in a hybrid manner: they virtually do not expand toward the densest regions (cores), while they expand according to the classical analytical result towards the rest of the cloud, and in an accelerated way, as a blister region, towards the diffuse medium. Thus, the ionised regions grow anisotropically, and the ionising stars generally appear off-centre of the regions. Finally, we find that the hypotheses assumed in standard H\,{\normalsize II}-region expansion models (fully embedded region, blister-type, or expansion in a density gradient) apply simultaneously in different parts of our simulated H\,{\normalsize II} regions, producing a net expansion law (RtαR \propto t^\alpha, with α\alpha in the range of 0.93-1.47 and a mean value of 1.2±0.171.2 \pm 0.17) that differs from any of those of the standard models.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRA
