Giant superconducting proximity effect on spintronic anisotropy
We investigate theoretically the interplay of proximity effects due to the
presence of a superconductor and normal ferromagnetic leads on the formation of
the spintronic quadrupolar exchange field in a large-spin molecule. We show
that the spintronic anisotropy can be enhanced by a few orders of magnitude,
and tuned by changing the strength of coupling to the superconductor.
Especially large anisotropy is generated in the vicinity of the charge parity
changing transition of the molecule. We also provide predictions of measurable
spectral properties being the hallmarks of these phenomena.Comment: Published version, 16 pages, 13 figures (including appendices
Prediction of swell pressure in Neogene clays from Warsaw, based on the swell index
The paper presents the results of swell measurements of Neogene clays (Posnanian clay) from the Mazovia region with different grain size distribution and mineral composition. The study was conducted with model soil with initial moisture contents of 15%, 20%, 25% and 30%. The basic physical properties of clays, their mineral composition and swelling parameters such as free swelling index and swelling pressure were determined. Free swell index was correlated to liquid limit, plasticity index, clay content and water content. A very high fit was found for a proposed relationship between the free swell index and swell pressure which offers an inexpensive method of predicting swell pressure in the preliminary stages of site investigation
Post-traumatic diaphragma hernia
W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono przypadek 22-letniego m臋偶czyzny z pourazow膮 przepuklin膮 przeponow膮,
do powstania kt贸rej dosz艂o w nast臋pstwie t臋pego urazu klatki piersiowej i nadbrzusza. Na podstawie
przeprowadzonych bada艅 diagnostycznych rozpoznano pourazow膮 przepuklin臋 przeponow膮 lewostronn膮.
Chorego operowano w trybie planowym. W trakcie laparotomii stwierdzono rozerwanie lewej kopu艂y przepony,
przez kt贸re 偶o艂膮dek zosta艂 w wi臋kszej cz臋艣ci przemieszczony do klatki piersiowej. 呕o艂膮dek odprowadzono
do jamy brzusznej i wykonano plastyk臋 przepukliny pourazowej przepony, zeszywaj膮c j膮 przy rozpr臋偶onym
p艂ucu. W przebiegu pooperacyjnym wyst膮pi艂a odma op艂ucnowa lewostronna, kt贸r膮 leczono, wykonuj膮c
drena偶 lewej jamy op艂ucnowej. Drena偶 usuni臋to w 4. dobie po operacji, po uzyskaniu upowietrznienia
dolnego pola lewego p艂uca. Pacjenta wypisano z kliniki w 5. dobie po operacji w stanie dobrym.A case of a 22 year-old male with post-traumatic diaphragmatic hernia resulting from a blunt injury of
chest and epigastrium is presented. Based on diagnostic procedures, left-sided posttraumatic diaphragmatic
hernia was diagnosed. A scheduled surgical procedure was performed in the patient. A laparotomy
revealed a rupture of the left diaphragmatic dome which allowed the displacement of the major part of
the stomach to the thoracic cavity. The stomach was replaced in the abdominal cavity and a hernioplasty
was performed by suturing the diaphragm while keeping the lungs expanded. During the postoperative
course, left-sided pneumothorax occurred which was treated with left thoracic cavity drainage. The drain
was removed on the fourth day after the operation when aeration of the lower field of the left lung was
achieved. The patient was discharged in good condition on the fifth day after operation
Methods for assessing the economic efficiency of IT projects
PURPOSE: The aim of this article is to classify the methods of assessing the economic
efficiency of all types of IT projects.APPROACH/METHODOLOGY/DESIGN: The main research method is a review of national and
world scientific and practical literature.FINDINGS: The growing importance of IT systems requires methods that will determine their
economic efficiency in enterprises and allow for practical comparison of the obtained
economic and financial results.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The practical implications of the research results included in the
article will constitute recommendations for activities in managing companies that can be
used in business practice. The pace of scientific and technological progress forces the
development of IT systems for the optimal efficiency of economic entities.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The original value of the article is the classification of the method for
assessing the effectiveness of IT innovations and the development of a process for an
appropriate approach to the overall assessment of such projects.peer-reviewe
