EXAMINING THE SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE MINING TOURISM
There is an increasing interest in mines and facilities related to the mining and industrial heritage perceived as tourist attractions on the global scale. Mining tourism, as a specific tourist segment within the industrial heritage tourism, diversifies a largely standardised tourist offer, providing tourists with a different experience and aesthetics of the landscape. Mining tourism has the potential to improve the social, economic and environmental elements of the local community, as well as to expand the development of tourism within the regional scale. This study aims to examine the support of the local community for the development of mining tourism in the context of sustainable development. This topic is up to date as it deals with a specific relation between the local community and tourism. Mining tourism has the potential to enhance the development of sites which are otherwise not so attractive to tourists.Publishe
Intellectual capital in hospitality and tourism: a critical review and future research agenda
Purpose The purpose of this research is to provide a critical review of the intellectual capital (IC) research in hospitality and tourism (HT) literature. Design/methodology/approach This study uses 141 research papers published on IC in HT between 2003 and 2021 to offer the findings of a systematic review of publications that cover the issue of IC as a holistic concept, rather than just a component of it, within the sector. Findings The progress on the topic is addressed. The authors\u27 findings also reveal the related research productivity, main themes compared to other service sectors and methodologies applied in the knowledge field. In order to provide a tangible structure in the field, a research agenda is offered. Research limitations/implications This study analyzed the development of IC research in the HT literature by focusing on journal articles in the Scopus database. The findings could aid researchers in (re)designing their study goals so they may add to both general IC literature and literature related to HT. Originality/value A strong positive relationship between IC and HT organizations’ performance has been demonstrated, but no study has previously mapped the research constituents of publications in IC research. To contribute to the endeavor of knowledge consolidation on this subject, the authors\u27 paper covers the research that has been done so far on the under-researched issue of IC in HT from a new perspective
Online booking accommodation in rural tourism: An UTAUT perspective
The paper investigates the most important factors that cause tourists to intend or to already use a website for booking accommodation in rural areas of the Republic of Serbia. On a sample of 212 respondents who had previously used websites to book accommodation in rural tourism, using a modified model of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), the impact of four predictor variables (expected impact, expected effort, social impact and facilitation conditions) on the intention of tourists to use, and two independent variables (facilitating conditions and intentions of tourists) on the use of websites for booking accommodation in rural households in Serbia was examined. The SPSS software package was used for data analysis, using descriptive statistics and standard multiple regression. The conducted research indicates that the expected effect and facilitating conditions have a positive influence on the intention of tourists to use websites for booking accommodation, as well as that facilitating conditions and intentions of tourists have a positive impact on the use of websites when booking accommodation.Publishe

Urban population is not homogeneous and as such is not uniform in perception related to tourism development, but some general conclusions can be drawn. This study aims to understand perception of residents about tourism development in city of Kragujevac, given that city authorities are keen to extend number of tourist visits and overnight stays within their tourism campaign efforts. The objective is to identify key factors related to the significance of tourism development based on attitudes of inhabitants of Kragujevac, as well as to determine whether there are differences in attitudes based on age and place of birth of the respondents. Through factor analysis seven factors surfaced, including: economic development, healthy and clean environment, development of local communities, sport and entertainment, preservation of environment, culture and real-estate. The Use of Geographic Information Systems in Public Services
With the further development of information and communication technology and a growing use of smart phones, the significance of Geographic Information System - GIS will indisputably continue to grow. This is supported by the fact that in the last decade geotechnology has been identified as one of the fastest growing technologies, along with biotechnology and nanotechnology. Even though GIS is increasingly being utilized in the Republic of Serbia, it appears that its use with some providers of public services is mainly deduced to showing spatial data with quite limited possibilities for a further analysis - which represents the essence of the use of GIS. The scope of this paper is to stress the outstanding analytical potential that GIS has in the domain of offering and improving various public services in the Republic of Serbia. The paper uses the examples of good practice in the sphere of the health system, public safety, rescue services and local government. The covered examples show that the use of the analytical component of GIS in everyday activities of the mentioned public services can make their work not only more transparent to the public, but considerably more efficient as well. This way, the analytical component of GIS enables decision-makers to improve the management of frequently limited available resources, while proving a higher level of the service quality to citizens as the final users
