On Authentic Progress: From Globalization to Interconnectedness

As a result of the lack of authenticity in modern standardized societies, an individual's identity and purpose are created through physical goods as opposed to the intrinsic appreciation of the individual's role in society. This creates a precise dichotomy between the affluent lifestyle of the corporate worker and human fulfillment and empathy. This paper demonstrates how a new form of education, which encompasses an existential framework of pedagogy, is able to foster empathic emotions in students leading them to make decisions that are aligned with a sustainable socio-economic model. The paper first outlines the ecological and human development problems caused by modern capitalism. Second, it analyzes the historical circumstances that have borne capitalism and explains, through sociological and anthropological theory, how the logic of capitalism has become ubiquitous, self-perpetuating and obsolete. Lastly, a transformation in education is proposed as a viable solution to overcome the mentioned cognitive trappings

Therapeutic approach for Amyand’s hernia; a case report

In very few cases stated in the literature, the vermiform appendix might be contained in a hernial sac. This distinctive pathology is described as Amyand\u27s hernia and has the very small occurrence of about 1%. We report the case of a 62-year-old man that presented for a reducible tumoral mass located in the right inguinal region. Amyand’s hernia was the intraoperative diagnostic. We performed hernioplasty (using the Lichtenstein tension-free mesh repair with a composite polypropylene mesh) without appendectomy. This case matches the type 1 Lossanoff and Basson’s classification and has no facile management. Due to the clinical specificities of each case that presents with defining features of an Amyand’s hernia, surgical management depends on the recommendations stated in the literature, as well as the surgeon’s judgment based on experience

Effect of Lingonberry Extracts on Blood Pressure and Myocardium in Paracetamol Intoxication

The 15 days of treatment with paracetamol, lingonberry dried extract or hidroalcoholic extract, alone or combined had following effects: blood pressure increases following administration of paracetamol and decreases under treatment with lingonberry extract, more obvious to 3: 1 lingonberry dried extract. Administration of Paracetamol, lingonberry extracts used simple or in combination with Paracetamol does not affect the myocardium histological structure. Histoenzimological there is a slight decrease of SDH activity in the groups P and PLd and an increase in Lha group. CyOx activity is increased in Lha and Ld group.The dried lingonberry extract has no apparent action on the myocardium instead has antihypertensive properties more obvious than the lingonberry alcoholic extract

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a major respiratory disease characterized by clinical and outcome heterogeneity. Current clinical guidelines have been developed in an attempt to optimise CAP management and it is absolutly necessary to adapt these to local particularities in different countries. This article discusses wide range of risk factors impact on CAP outcome. The rates of adherence to clinical guidelines depends on multiple factors related to clinicians, patients or healthcare system. Инфекции нижних дыхательных путей (ИНДП) занимают лидирующее место не только по заболеваемости, но и являются одной из главных причин смертности среди взрослого населения. При всех современных возможностях антибактериальной терапии, пневмонии продолжают быть одним из самых серьёзных и грозных проявлений ИНДП. Все существующие на сегодняшний день клинические протоколы и рекомендации призваны помочь современному доктору в тактике ведения и выборе правильной схемы антибактериального лечения. The role of spinal ultrasound in the diagnosis of spinal dysraphism – correlation with MRI examination

The paper presents the clinical, ultrasound and MRI appearances in the case of the closed spinal dysraphisms with a cutaneous/subcutaneous mass: lypomyelomeningocele, posterior meningocele and cervical meningocele. There is mentioned first the classification of these defects, then, for each type, a case example is presented, showing the clinical aspect of the lesion, the ultrasound features and the correlation of ultrasound with MRI images. The examples show a good correlation between ultrasound and MRI, entitling the ultrasound exam to be the first line of exploration in the case of this category of patients

THE PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS PLAYING BEACH HANDBALL HAS ON JUNIOR HANDBALL INDOOR PLAYERS

Beach handball is a branch of sports that was born on the beaches of Italy in the early 1990s and it was designed to help players under go their physical training in a more dynamic training during the summer. Objectives. The main goal of this study is to describe the physiological state of the athletes that underwent a series of beach handball training sessions and to determine the effects of such training sessions on junior level beach handball athletes. Materials and methods. We have suggested that the evaluation of the athletes’ condition be determined via invasive methods, such as the analysis of their urinary value. Results. The numerical data obtained from our analysis were computed using Student’s t-test for unpaired samples associated with Welch’s unequal variance t-test. The statistical significance was determined for an associated P 95%). The comparison was made between the mean of the initial values and the mean of the final value for all the dosed biochemical markers. The data are expressed as mean ± SD (standard deviation). The statistical processing was done using the GraphPad Prism software. Conclusions. Including beach handball practice sessions in the training program of indoor handball players has no significant effect on their physiological state. Obiectivul principal al studiului a fost conturarea statusului fiziologic al sportivilor supuși unor serii de antrenamente organizate de Beach Handball și determinarea efectelor fiziologice în urma aplicării jocului de Beach Handball în pregătirea jucătorilor de handbal la nivel de juniori. Materiale și metode. Am propus evaluare stării sportivilor prin metode invazive, cum ar fi determinarea valorii unitare a acestora. Rezultate. Datele numerice obținute în urma determinărilor efectuate au fost prelucrate cu testul t Student pentru valori neperechi asociat cu corecția lui Welch. Semnificația statistică a fost stabilită la un P asociat 95%). Comparația s-a efectuat între media valorilor inițiale și media valorilor finale, pentru toți markerii biochimici dozați. Datele sunt exprimate ca medie ± ES (eroarea standard a mediei). Prelucrarea statistică a datelor s-a efectuat folosind softul GraphPad Prism 5. Concluzii. Introducerea antrenamentelor de Beach Handball în programul de pregătire al jucătoarelor de handbal (indoor) nu influențează statusul fiziologic a acestora. The paper describes the ultrasonographic examination of the spinal structures and the normal appearance of the spinal cord, the structures within the spinal canal, and the bony and muscular adjacent structures.
