On 27 December 2017, a male specimen of Cirl Bunting was observed in agricultural field near the town of Đakovo in East Slavonia. This is the first known occurrence of the species in the lowland part of eastern Croatia. Cirl Bunting is a common resident breeder of the Mediterranean part of Croatia, and a sporadic breeding species in north-western hilly areas in the continental part of the country. Few recent data from the hills of eastern Slavonia suggest that the species might breed here as well

Since the first half of the 20th century, the Rook has been a regular breeding species in Continental Croatia, as well as in the town of Đakovo in Eastern Slavonia. For unknown reasons, Rooks abandoned Đakovo with the last breeding recorded in 1993. In 2018, Rooks recolonized Đakovo with 10 pairs nesting in the Strossmayer park. In 2019 and 2020, the number of the breeding pairs showed a growing tendency with 20 and 56 pairs recorded, respectively

Basing on post-Soviet referendums analysis the author made a conclusion of objective nature of referendum. The fact, that referendum takes place in most ethnopolitical processes – conflicts, autonomization, disintegration/integration proves the statement. The constructive or destructive role of referendum entirely depends on whom and for what purpose uses this political and legal mechanism

On 9 February 2019, nesting of the Long-eared Owl Asio otus in Đakovo was recorded. The Long-eared Owl is a common resident breeder of Đakovo and its usual breeding season lasts from March until June. On 8 February 2019 the begging call of chicks was heard during the night hours. On 9 February 2019 a nest with circa 3-week-old chicks was found in a nearby park. Taking into consideration the age of the chicks and the fact that the incubation in this species lasts 25-30 days we can conclude that the nesting began in the period between 20 and 30 November 2018

Introduction: The impact of diet on mental well-being and gut microorganisms in humans is well recognized. However, research on the connections between food nutrients, gut microbiota, and mental health remains limited. To address this, the present study aimed to assess the effects of a personalized diet, based on individual needs and aligned with the Mediterranean diet principles, on depression symptoms, quality of life, nutritional intake, and gut microbiota changes among older adults living in the community. Methods: The intervention involved regular visits from a registered dietitian, who provided tailored dietary recommendations. During the 6-month study, participants completed questionnaires to evaluate their depression levels, quality of life, and dietary habits. Additionally, they provided stool samples for analysis of gut microbiota and metabolites. Results: The results demonstrated that the personalized dietary intervention reduced depression symptoms and improved the quality of life among older adults. Furthermore, significant changes in the intake of certain nutrients, such as folate, lutein, zeaxanthin, EPA, and DHA, were observed following the intervention. Moreover, the intervention was associated with increased diversity in the gut microbiome and reduced total short-chain fatty acids, the main metabolites produced by gut microorganisms. The study also revealed correlations between food nutrients, gut microbiota, and mental health parameters. Discussion: In conclusion, this research highlights the potential advantages of personalized dietary interventions in managing depression and enhancing overall well-being among older populations. It also sheds light on the role of gut microbiota and its metabolites in these effects. The findings offer valuable insights into the significance of nutrition and gut health for mental well-being in older adults

Overview of Abusive and Threatening Language Detection in Urdu at FIRE 2021

With the growth of social media platform influence, the effect of their misuse becomes more and more impactful. The importance of automatic detection of threatening and abusive language can not be overestimated. However, most of the existing studies and state-of-the-art methods focus on English as the target language, with limited work on low- and medium-resource languages. In this paper, we present two shared tasks of abusive and threatening language detection for the Urdu language which has more than 170 million speakers worldwide. Both are posed as binary classification tasks where participating systems are required to classify tweets in Urdu into two classes, namely: (i) Abusive and Non-Abusive for the first task, and (ii) Threatening and Non-Threatening for the second. We present two manually annotated datasets containing tweets labelled as (i) Abusive and Non-Abusive, and (ii) Threatening and Non-Threatening. The abusive dataset contains 2400 annotated tweets in the train part and 1100 annotated tweets in the test part. The threatening dataset contains 6000 annotated tweets in the train part and 3950 annotated tweets in the test part. We also provide logistic regression and BERT-based baseline classifiers for both tasks. In this shared task, 21 teams from six countries registered for participation (India, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, and Taiwan), 10 teams submitted their runs for Subtask A, which is Abusive Language Detection and 9 teams submitted their runs for Subtask B, which is Threatening Language detection, and seven teams submitted their technical reports. The best performing system achieved an F1-score value of 0.880 for Subtask A and 0.545 for Subtask B. For both subtasks, m-Bert based transformer model showed the best performance
