In 2015 there will be celebrated the 220th birth anniversary of the prominent humanist, writer and diplomat Alexander Griboyedov, who lived and worked in a fateful period in the history of Russia, “the Golden age of the Russian literature”, when had been formed the generation of the Russian intellectuals, determined the trend of development of the Russian science, culture, and enlightenment. There are profiled relations of the active participants in these processes, reformers of the history - A. Griboedov and V. Odoevsky, their joint literary and musical studies, as well as history and role of “Mnemosyne” Almanac in the literary process of 1820-ies. In the historical context of the events taken place in the period named Pushkin epoch, there are traced the tragic fate of the friends of V. Odoevsky and A. Griboyedov - Decembrists A. Odoevsky and V. Kuchelbecker. There is appraised the significance of book and manuscript collection of V. Electron paramagnetic resonance of Gd3+ aqua complexes in vitrified aqueous solutions and Gd3+ aqua ions adsorbed on the capillary surface

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of Gd3+ aqua complexes are measured in dilute aqueous solutions of Gd(NO3)3 (C < 0.2 M) at room temperature. A partial resolution of the fine structure observed in the spectra is characteristic of solid disordered systems and results in an increase in the effective width of the EPR line with a decrease in the Gd3+ concentration. This phenomenon is explained in terms of adsorption of Gd3+ aqua ions on the surface of the measuring capillaries. The fine structure is revealed in the EPR spectra of Gd(NO3)3 aqueous solutions, namely, the Gd(NO3)3 solutions vitrified at a temperature of 77 K (with an addition of 10-15 vol % glycerol) and Gd(NO3)3 solutions quasi-vitrified at 298 K (with an addition of 70-90 vol % glycerol). Analysis of the EPR spectra demonstrates that these solutions contain two types of aqua complexes with fine structure parameters D1 = 180 G and D2 = 580 G. Reasoning from a comparison with x-ray diffraction data, the fine structure parameters D1 and D2 are assigned to higher symmetric eight-coordinate and lower symmetric nine-coordinate Gd3+ aqua complexes, respectively. © 2003 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica"

Role of Post-Neoadjuvant therapy with trastuzumab emtansine in HER2-positive breast cancer

The widespread introduction of anti-HER2 agents has changed the natural course of Her2-positive breast cancer. The use of trastuzumab, and later dual anti-HER2 blockade with pertuzumab, in neoadjuvant regimens significantly increased the chances of complete cure. However, among patients with early and locally advanced forms of Her2-positive cancer, there is a cohort with an extremely unfavorable prognosis – tumors that have not achieved complete pathomorphological regression after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.The presence of a residual tumor in Her2-positive breast cancer has long been only a prognostically unfavorable factor without the potential to influence disease outcome. The results of the international phase III study KATHERINE, which demonstrated the high efficacy of post-adjuvant therapy with trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) in this patient cohort, have established a new standard of care. Due to T-DM1 adjuvant therapy, the possibility to significantly improve long-term results determined the predictive characteristics of the morphological response to the choice of treatment tactics, which became an important argument in favor of neoadjuvant therapy in patients with not only locally advanced but also primarily resectable Her2-positive breast cancer, followed by personalization of therapy.This article presents our own experience with post-neoadjuvant therapy with trastuzumab emtansine in a young patient with a residual tumor.
