    Get PDF
The story centers on the narrator, Jake Barnes and his love interest, Lady Brett Ashley, with whom he is unable to sustain a romantic relationship due to a war injury that has rendered him impotent. In this article love is shown in a very superficial manner. It is so because most of the characters are self-seeking in love. Love fails to offer it’s natural and becomes a dehumanizing force. The love between Jake and Brett does not rise to desirable proportions because Jake is physically disabled and Brett is spiritually incapacitated. Had Brett not been so, the union with Romero should have proved to be a perfect one. The failure of their love was not the failure of Romero who is both bodily and spiritually sound; it is owing to the inadequacy of Brett as a beloved her in ability of total absorption in love and surrender to her lover. Jake is the suitable partner in love who can act for the happiness of another and can rising above all self-seeking, but he fails to give physical satisfaction. Romero’s love possesses Brett fully for a time and brings some change which has a moral significance in her character and sheds light on what love can really do if it is perfect. This novel provides a clue about Hemingway’s negative attitude to love

This paper deals with the life of Indian sovereign Muhammad-bin-Tughlaq and Hayavandana is memorablecure of the theme of search for sucegical tale, celebrates sensuality from woman’s point of view.It is a persona totally separated from the society. While he is sacred by heart but his ideas are far above the reach and conception of the common people. All religions are significant contribute by him but both religions doesn’t able to understand obviously minded and tolerance of Tughlag and all his well thinking for public is beyond the non – comprehension of the people and so both Hindus and Muslims burst into violence and cruelty for the completion of his optimistic plans. Most important reason for this enchantment is the advantage of theatrical devices. In the play religion is presented with many symbols like chess, prayer, python, sleep, vulture, rose, and tree. His plays open up new vista to look at the glorious heritage of myths, legends and all such precious pearls that India possessed

An efficient method to classify GI tract images from WCE using visual words

    Get PDF
The digital images made with the Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) from the patient's gastrointestinal tract are used to forecast abnormalities. The big amount of information from WCE pictures could take 2 hours to review GI tract illnesses per patient to research the digestive system and evaluate them. It is highly time consuming and increases healthcare costs considerably. In order to overcome this problem, the CS-LBP (Center Symmetric Local Binary Pattern) and the ACC (Auto Color Correlogram) were proposed to use a novel method based on a visual bag of features (VBOF). In order to solve this issue, we suggested a Visual Bag of Features(VBOF) method by incorporating Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT), Center-Symmetric Local Binary Pattern (CS-LBP) and Auto Color Correlogram (ACC). This combination of features is able to detect the interest point, texture and color information in an image. Features for each image are calculated to create a descriptor with a large dimension. The proposed feature descriptors are clustered by K- means referred to as visual words, and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method is used to automatically classify multiple disease abnormalities from the GI tract. Finally, post-processing scheme is applied to deal with final classification results i.e. validated the performance of multi-abnormal disease frame detection

Untouchable is one of the sociological novel published in1935. In ‘Untouchable’ he gives message of Humanism. His novels embrace human experiences and convey a sense of life and character like a coloured glass.Anand’s humanism has been the inspiration and the driving force behind the writing of the novels. In the novel he express the basic idea of his variety of humanism. Untouchable is the most important element of Anand humanism. He views casteism as a social crime against humanity because it has evil effects on human mind. The tradition of untouchability on the basis of the caste-system retracts the idea of progress. In the novel Bakha suffer so many indignities and humiliations in a single day merely because he is a sweeper. He is insulted abused and finally slapped for touching a high caste Hindu. In Untouchable Anand who as a humanist does not believe in God, hell and heaven rejecting the doctrine of karma and karmaphala. Mokhya or the act of justice as trite and bogas, no longer fits for the awaking of masses. The element of fate of karma is presented in his novel but only to be rejected and savagely criticism. The theme of man?s inhumanity to man is the most important stream of thought in the novel. This has been depicted in the form of caste hatred or untouchability

Zinc alloy plating is a high performance coatirrg. Compared to pure zinc plating, zinc alloys provide several advantages. A zinc alloy will generally provide superior sacrificial protection to steel. The degree of protection and rate of corrosion depends on the alloy metal and composition. The demand for higher-quali~~lo, nger-lasting, more corrosion-resistant coatings in industries such as aerospace. fkstener, electrical component and particularly, automotive has played a large role in the rlevelopment and use of zinc alloy coatings. Zinc-iron alloy has good weldabilily and ductility. In this paper the corrosion resistance properties of zinc-iron deposited from a sulphate bath are evaluated by electrochemical methods and the results are discussed

    Evidence-based national vaccine policy

    Get PDF
India has over a century old tradition of development and production of vaccines. The Government rightly adopted self-sufficiency in vaccine production and self-reliance in vaccine technology as its policy objectives in 1986. However, in the absence of a full-fledged vaccine policy, there have been concerns related to demand and supply, manufacture vs. import, role of public and private sectors, choice of vaccines, new and combination vaccines, universal vs. selective vaccination, routine immunization vs. special drives, cost-benefit aspects, regulatory issues, logistics etc. The need for a comprehensive and evidence based vaccine policy that enables informed decisions on all these aspects from the public health point of view brought together doctors, scientists, policy analysts, lawyers and civil society representatives to formulate this policy paper for the consideration of the Government. This paper evolved out of the first ever ICMR-NISTADS national brainstorming workshop on vaccine policy held during 4-5 June, 2009 in New Delhi, and subsequent discussions over email for several weeks, before being adopted unanimously in the present form

Phenotypic and Functional Characterization of Human Mammary Stem/Progenitor Cells in Long Term Culture

Background: Cancer stem cells exhibit close resemblance to normal stem cells in phenotype as well as function. Hence, studying normal stem cell behavior is important in understanding cancer pathogenesis. It has recently been shown that human breast stem cells can be enriched in suspension cultures as mammospheres. However, little is known about the behavior of these cells in long-term cultures. Since extensive self-renewal potential is the hallmark of stem cells, we undertook a detailed phenotypic and functional characterization of human mammospheres over long-term passages. Methodology: Single cell suspensions derived from human breast `organoids' were seeded in ultra low attachment plates in serum free media. Resulting primary mammospheres after a week (termed T1 mammospheres) were subjected to passaging every 7th day leading to the generation of T2, T3, and T4 mammospheres. Principal Findings: We show that primary mammospheres contain a distinct side-population (SP) that displays a CD24(low)/CD44(low) phenotype, but fails to generate mammospheres. Instead, the mammosphere-initiating potential rests within the CD44(high)/CD24(low) cells, in keeping with the phenotype of breast cancer-initiating cells. In serial sphere formation assays we find that even though primary (T1) mammospheres show telomerase activity and fourth passage T4 spheres contain label-retaining cells, they fail to initiate new mammospheres beyond T5. With increasing passages, mammospheres showed an increase in smaller sized spheres, reduction in proliferation potential and sphere forming efficiency, and increased differentiation towards the myoepithelial lineage. Significantly, staining for senescence-associated beta-galactosidase activity revealed a dramatic increase in the number of senescent cells with passage, which might in part explain the inability to continuously generate mammospheres in culture. Conclusions: Thus, the self-renewal potential of human breast stem cells is exhausted within five in vitro passages of mammospheres, suggesting the need for further improvisation in culture conditions for their long-term maintenance
