Innovative Solutions of the Future Internet: Needs of the Food Chain Users

    Get PDF
Within the SmartAgriFood project 135 in depth interviews in 6 countries, and 8 focus group discussions in 5 countries were carried out for identification and evaluation of the potential applications of the Future Internet (FI) in the agri-food area. Several innovative ideas were described by the participants and there were also some demands, expectations and limitations which were universally mentioned by them. One of the main expectations is that FI should be accessible for anybody, anywhere and anytime. In addition the followings should be ensured: higher privacy; compatibility; integration of systems; longer range in communication; lower implementation costs; and user-friendly interfaces. The most important prerequisite is making aware and training of the users, as most of them do not have appropriate experience about using the Internet. For enhancing the application of the ICT solutions in the agri-food sector the above mentioned needs of the users should be considered and met by the ICT community

Food Awareness and Transparency: Current Practices and Future Tools

Within the SmartAgriFood project the envisaged functions of Future Internet (FI) were collected and explained to the business users. 135 in depth interviews in 6 countries, and 8 focus group discussions in 5 countries were carried out for identifications and evaluation of the potential applications in the agri-food chain in the Smart Food Awareness area. Privacy was seen as a key function of the FI. The majority of the potential application ideas were rated as applicable to ensure improved awareness for the food chain members. There is a need for systematic explanation of the new enabling functions of the FI to the potential business users in a user-friendly way to foster the identification of new application opportunities. In some cases there is a difference between the priorities set by them and the behaviour of the consumers

Status epilepticus affects the gigantocellular network of the pontine reticular formation

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The impairment of the pontine reticular formation (PRF) has recently been revealed to be histopathologically connected with focal-cortical seizure induced generalized convulsive <it>status epilepticus</it>. To elucidate whether the impairment of the PRF is a general phenomenon during <it>status epilepticus</it>, the focal-cortical 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) application was compared with other epilepsy models. The presence of "dark" neurons in the PRF was investigated by the sensitive silver method of Gallyas in rats sacrificed at 3 h after focal 4-AP crystal or systemic 4-AP, pilocarpine, or kainic acid application. The behavioral signs of the developing epileptic seizures were scored in all rats. The EEG activity was recorded in eight rats.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Regardless of the initiating drug or method of administration, "dark" neurons were consistently found in the PRF of animals entered the later phases of <it>status epilepticus</it>. EEG recordings demonstrated the presence of slow oscillations (1.5-2.5 Hz) simultaneously with the appearance of giant "dark" neurons in the PRF.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We argue that the observed slow oscillation corresponds to the late periodic epileptiform discharge phase of <it>status epilepticus</it>, and that the PRF may be involved in the progression of <it>status epilepticus</it>.</p

Az Istállós-kői-barlang ásatásának folytatása és a Bükki Aurignaci kérdése = Continuation of Excavating Istállós-kő Cave and Problem of Bükk Aurignacian

| The number T46892 research program funded by the OTKA, included further excavations and revisions of two main sites: the Istallós-kő (2004-2005) and the Otto Herman Cave (2005-2006). The detailed research program on the Aurignacien Culture in the Bükk Mountains, involved processing all the available data; such as the techno-tipological and the complex stratigraphical-paleoenvironmental, the chronological and the paleoethnological. Working closely with other research programs led by William Davies (University of Southampton) and Marcel Otte (Universite de Liege) we were able to perform many new C14 radiometric dating. Among others, the extremely significant one was done on the occipital bone found in Miskolc-Tapolca's Rockshelter. We have presented the results and conclusions in many conferences and in publications

A szimbolizmus és az avantgarde kora az orosz művészeti kultúrában (kétnyelvű dokumentumgyűjtemény) = The age of symbolism and avant-garde in russian art (a bilingual textbook)

A válogatás koncepcióját a kötet szaklektorai nemzetközi vonatkozásban is jelentősnek minősítették. Az eredeti szövegek magyar nyelvű fordítása az ELTE Orosz Irodalmi Doktori Programjának műhelyében készült. A kötetben szereplő szövegeket a doktori program tanárai és hallgatói fordították 500 oldal terjedelemben. A szövegeket mintegy 400 kép illusztráció kíséri. | Materials in the bilingual textbook are classified thematically in chronological order to follow the main trends of art criticism at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (the age of Symbolism and Art Nouveau) as well as in the 1910s and 1920s (the age of Post-Symbolism and Avant-Garde). The described period marked not only the golden age of painting culture, the experimental renewal of artistic principles, but also the golden age of the critical and theoretical thinking. An all-embracing presentation of this period has not been accomplished so far in special research into Art History and Slavonic studies in Hungary. The translation of primary texts into Hungarian and the elaboration on up-to-date and easy-to-understand special terminology was prepared as a result of teamwork in the workshop of the PhD Program in Russian Literature at the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest. The texts in the book were translated by the Professors and Students of the PhD program. The documents are complemented by 400 pictures illustrating the main trends of the period, and are accompanied by an extensive scholarly apparatus and a selected bibliography. The bilingual textbook illustrated with pictures can be used first of all as a university reference book in graduate and postgraduate education in Art History, Aesthetics, and Slavonic Studies. Since the bilingual book also contains the primary source material in Russian, it will arouse international interest
