Adjoint methods for obstacle problems and weakly coupled systems of PDE

    Get PDF
The adjoint method, recently introduced by Evans, is used to study obstacle problems, weakly coupled systems, cell problems for weakly coupled systems of Hamilton--Jacobi equations, and weakly coupled systems of obstacle type. In particular, new results about the speed of convergence of some approximation procedures are derived

INVESTIGATION OF ABILITY LIBERATION OF METALS FROM PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS BY MECHANICAL PROCESSES FOR PHYSICAL SEPARATION PROCESSES

Physical separation process was widely applied for the separation of metallic component from Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) due to their advantages as friendly-environment, facilitated control, and low-cost. However, the efficiency of physical separation depends on a level of the liberation between the metallic and non-metallic components which is conducted by mechanical processing. In this study, the liberation of metals from computer PCBs was conducted in detail by mechanical processes including cutting and crushing. The obtained results demonstrate the distribution metallic and non-metallic component weighs as a function of particle sizes. The separation efficiency of metals was conducted by air separation using vacuum sorter equipment. The results showed that the comminution processes using hammer mill for reach the highest efficiency with 92 % recovery and 87 % grade of metallic components in the heavy fraction with particle size 1.0 - 1.4 mm by air separation process

Non-sterile electroweak-scale right-handed neutrinos and the dual nature of the 125-GeV scalar

Can, and under which conditions, the 125-\gev SM-like scalar with the signal strengths for its decays into W+WW^{+}W^{-}, ZZZZ, γγ\gamma \gamma, bbˉb \bar{b} and ττˉ\tau \bar{\tau} being consistent with experiments be accommodated in models that go beyond the Standard Model? Is it truly what it appears to be, namely the SM Higgs boson, or could it be quite different? A minimal extension of the original electroweak-scale right-handed neutrino model, in which right-handed neutrinos naturally obtain electroweak-scale masses, shows a scalar spectrum which includes either the 125-\gev SM-like scalar or a scalar which is quite {\em unlike} that of the Standard Model, both of which possessing signal strengths compatible with experiment. In other words, the 125-\gev scalar could be an {\em impostor}.Comment: 36 double-column pages, 13 Figures, 9 Tables. Typos corrected. Version to appear in Nuclear Physics

USING AN INTELLIGENT ANFIS-ONLINE CONTROLLER FOR STATCOM IN IMPROVING DYNAMIC VOLTAGE STABILITY

    Get PDF
This research has introduced the intelligent ANFIS-Online controller of STATCOM for improving the dynamic voltage on the power network under a 3-phase short circuit fault. The ANFIS-Online is made using an artificial neural network identifier. And based on the identifier, the premise and consequent parameters of ANFIS are adjusted timely. To demonstrate the performance of the suggested controller, the transient waves are shown to describe the effectiveness of the intelligent ANFIS-Online controller to enhance the transient response of the research system under a 3-phase short circuit fault. It's shown that the suggested intelligent ANFIS-Online controller has provided waves better than the other controllers such as ANFIS controller, ANFIS-PSO controller, ANFIS-GA controller for STATCOM equipment to enhance transient voltage stability
