Speech act, one form of linguistic expression, plays a vital role in expressing speaker’s meaning, so understanding the underlying meaning can help to avoid misunderstanding in daily communication situations in general and in movies in specific. This study aims to analyse the types of speech acts performed by characters in the Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time. It adopted Searle's (1983) model of speech acts for data analysis. The findings reveal that 11 characters performed 854 speech acts to indicate five types of speech acts, namely representative, directive, expressive, commissive and declarative. The representatives were most employed, followed by directives, and expressives. The least used illocutionary acts were commissives and declaratives. Regarding the language function, it is found that the most common functions were stating, ordering and calling which were performed mostly by Cinderella, Prince Charming, Anastasia, and Tremaine. This paper suggests some implications for English language teaching and learning in terms of pragmatics

This paper presents some results of three dimension (3D) modelling application to research characteristics of field current variation in the coastal area of Red River Delta. In the study, a 3D numerical model was set up with four vertical layers (s coordinate system). The open sea boundary conditions of hydrodynamics model have been obtained by NESTING method from the same l model for the larger marine region. Hydrodynamics model was calibrated and validated by measured data of water levels in Hon Dau National Hydrographic Station and data of currents in other sites (Ba Lat and Nam Trieu). In the studied results the temporal and spatial variation of total currents  and residual currents in the coastal area of Red River Delta are obtained, in which the different roles of tidal oscillations-tide currents, fresh water from river mouths, wind stress-gradient currents and density currents were recorded (the roles of wave induced currents are ignored).Bài viết này trình bày các kết quả áp dụng mô hình toán học 3 chiều (3D) để nghiên cứu đặc điểm biến động dòng chảy ở vùng ven bờ châu thổ sông Hồng.

A Robust Mobile Robot Navigation System using Neuro-Fuzzy Kalman Filtering and Optimal Fusion of Behavior-based Fuzzy Controllers

This study proposes a control system model for mobile robots navigating in unknown environments. The proposed model includes a neuro-fuzzy Extended Kalman Filter for localization task and a behaviorbased fuzzy multi-controller navigation module. The neuro-fuzzy EKF, used for estimating the robot’s position from sensor readings, is an enhanced EKF whose noise covariance matrix is progressively adjusted by a fuzzy neural network. The navigation module features a series of independently-executed fuzzy controllers, each deals with a specific navigation sub-task, or behavior, and a multi-objective optimizer to coordinate all behaviors. The membership functions of all fuzzy controllers play the roles of objective functions for the optimizer, which produces an overall Pareto-optimal control signal to drive the robot. A number of simulations and real-world experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of this model

Sensor clustering using a K-means algorithm in combination with optimized unmanned aerial vehicle trajectory in wireless sensor networks

We examine a general wireless sensor network (WSN) model which incorporates a large number of sensors distributed over a large and complex geographical area. The study proposes solutions for a flexible deployment, low cost and high reliability in a wireless sensor network. To achieve these aims, we propose the application of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a flying relay to receive and forward signals that employ nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for a high spectral sharing efficiency. To obtain an optimal number of subclusters and optimal UAV positioning, we apply a sensor clustering method based on K-means unsupervised machine learning in combination with the gap statistic method. The study proposes an algorithm to optimize the trajectory of the UAV, i.e., the centroid-to-next-nearest-centroid (CNNC) path. Because a subcluster containing multiple sensors produces cochannel interference which affects the signal decoding performance at the UAV, we propose a diagonal matrix as a phase-shift framework at the UAV to separate and decode the messages received from the sensors. The study examines the outage probability performance of an individual WSN and provides results based on Monte Carlo simulations and analyses. The investigated results verified the benefits of the K-means algorithm in deploying the WSN.Web of Science234art. no. 234
