INSIGHT OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF VENTILAGO MADERASPATANA LEAVES ON HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY UNDER STREPTOZOTOCIN-INDUCED DIABETIC RATS
Objective: The methanolic leaf extract of Ventilago maderaspatana (MEVML, 200 mg/kg body weight [b.w.]) was investigate to hepatoprotective activity under streptozotocin-induced (45 mg/kg b.w.) diabetic (Di) rats.
Methods: In the present study, we determined the blood glucose levels, b.w., insulin, creatinine, and bilirubin levels in normal, Di, Di treated with MEVML and positive control rats.
Results: The Di rats shown adverse changes in blood glucose levels, b.w., insulin, creatinine, and bilirubin levels when compared to other group rats. Reverse the adverse changes in the above parameters when treated the Di rats with MEVML
Conclusion: The MEVML shown anti-diabetic activity and reverse the adverse changes in the above parameters in liver so that the MEVML supported the traditional claim of the hepatoprotective activity under Di condition
Supersonic Jet Interactions in a Plenum Chamber
Understanding thè supersonic jet interactions in a plenum chamber is essential for thè design of hot launch systems. Static tests were conducted in a small-scale rocket motor ioaded with a typical nitramine propellaiit to produce a nozzle exit Mach number of 3. This supersonic jet is made to interact with plenum chambers having both open and closed sides. The distance between thè nozzle exit and thè back piate of plenum chamber are varied from 2. 5 to 7. 0 times thè nozzle exit diameter. The pressure rise in thè plenum chamber was measured using pressure transducers mounted at different locatìons. The pressure-time data were analysed to obtain an insight into thè flow field in thè plenum chamber. The maximum pressure exerted on thè back piate of plenum chamber is about 25-35 per cent. of thè maximum stagnation pressure developed in thè rocket motor. Ten static tests were carried out to obtain thè effect of axial distance between thè nozzle exit and thè plenum chamber back piate, and stagnation pressure in thè rocket motoron thè flow field in thè open-sided and closed-sided plenum chambers configurations
Phylogenetic Diversity of Bacterial Community Associated with the Marine Sponge Halichondira nigrocutis Collected off Southwest Indian Coast
This study aimed to evaluate the bacterial communities associated with the marine sponge Halichondria nigrocutis present in Indian waters by both cultivation and cultivation-independent techniques. Results using cultivation method showed that bacteria belonging to Bacillus, Acinetobacter and Vibrio spp. to be the predominant groups. Metagenomic study of sponge-associated bacteria by cultivation independent approach, involving cloning and sequencing of the 16S rDNA gene generated sequences that were subjected to phylogenetic analysis. Results demonstrated the community structure to be represented by the phyla Proteobacteria (alpha-, gamma- and delta-classes), Cyanobacteria, Actinobacteria and Firmicutes, with isolates belonging to alpha-proteobacterial group to be predominating. To our knowledge this study appears to be the first to record cultivable and uncultivable bacterial groups associated with H.nigrocutis from Indian waters
Development of a RP-HPLC method for evaluation of in vitro permeability of voriconazole in the presence of enhancers through rat skin
AbstractAn isocratic RP-HPLC–UV method for the analysis of voriconazole in skin diffusate samples has been developed and validated. Experimental design was employed to optimize the method. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines. Linearity was observed over the concentration range of 2–100μgmL−1 (r2=0.999). Limits of detection and quantification were 0.6 and 2μgmL−1, respectively. Intra-day and inter-day precision (% RSD) was within the ICH limits (⩽2%). The method was successfully used to analyze skin diffusate samples, and the effectiveness of different permeation enhancers was compared with respect to flux and permeability coefficient
The Exponential Rise of Teledentistry and Patient-Oriented Protective Measures in Southeast Asian Dental Clinics: Concerns, Benefits, and Challenges
In the Southeast Asian region, various policies have been advocated by health regulatory bodies that entail protective measures such as face masks, gloves, maintaining distance in public areas, and more. These protective measures are aimed at helping reverse the growth rate of the coronavirus. Dentists in this region have incorporated several changes to their practices to help minimize risks of person-to-person transmission inside dental offices. This narrative review aimed to provide an in-depth overview of the current situation in the Southeast Asian region regarding the use of teledentistry during the pandemic. Teledentistry involves the transfer of patient information across remote distances for online consultation and treatment planning. A few years back, it used to be a lesser-known entity but has seen an exponential rise in its incorporation into dental practices all around the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) region. Many clinics in the Southeast Asian region have started using online consultations to ensure that patients can be diagnosed or followed up during their treatment. Teledentistry is the clear answer in the coming months as it will help reduce the risk of virus transmission and help patients get access to oral healthcare and dentists to see their patients. This article reviews the current pandemic situation in the ASEAN region, the recent evidence, and the scope of teledentistry. It also provides recommendations for the future and sheds light on the different types of teledentistry and how it can be incorporated into practices by regulatory authorities in this region
Perch resources of the shelf waters in the EEZ of India
The present paper deals with the distribution and abundance of perch resources
in the Indian EEZ, based on trawling operations by FORV Sugar Sampada during
cruises 1-90. Perches are available at depths 23-250 m; including the 27 stations
along the Andaman Sea these were present in 151 stations. Trawling at depths within
100 m was more productive than beyond 100 m. The species composition also
showed different pattern from within 100 m and beyond 100 m depth. The total yield
of perches from the bottom trawling operations was 12 tonne with an average catch
of 86.67 kg/hr. Though west coast registered a higher catch than the east coast, the
catch rate was found to be better from the east coast. Good (Perch grounds were
located between 18° to 20°N and 84° to 87° E at 60-70 m depth off the northeast
coast
Endodontic Microbiology: A Bibliometric Analysis of the Top 50 Classics
Background: Citation analysis has emerged to play a significant role in recognition of the most useful areas of research. Endodontic microbiology has been a topic of interest for endodontists as well as periodontists and oral surgeons. This bibliometric analysis is aimed at identifying and reporting the characteristics of the top 50 cited articles on endodontic microbiology. Methods: The articles were identified through a search on Web of Science (WoS), property of Clarivate Analytics database published on endodontic microbiology. The citation information of the selected articles was recorded. The Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal, Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology and Endodontology, Dental Traumatology, and Australian Endodontic Journal were searched in the search title. Descriptive and bivariate analyses were performed using a statistical software package SPSS. Statistical analysis was performed using Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskal-Wallis, Post hoc, Mann-Kendall trend, and Spearman-rank tests. Results: The 50 most cited articles were published from 1965 to 2012 with citation count varying from 1065 to 103 times. The total citation counts of articles recorded were 11,525 (WoS), 12,602 (Elseviers' Scopus), and 28,871 (Google Scholar). The most prolific years in terms of publications were 2001, 2002, and 2003, with five publications each, followed by 2005 with four. The year with most citations was 1998, with 1,330 citations, followed by 1965 and 2001, with 1,065 and 1,015 citations, respectively. A total of 136 authors contributed to the top 50 most cited articles with 27 corresponding institutions from 12 different countries. The most common methodological design was in vitro study, followed by clinic-laboratory study, literature review, systematic review and meta-analysis, and animal study. Conclusions: The present study provided a detailed list of the top 50 most cited and classic articles on microbiology in endodontics. This will help researchers, students, and clinicians in the field of endodontics as an impressive source of information
