Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) is an important pest on horticultural crops that can also become a vector of Geminivirus that transmit the yellow curl disease. B. tabaci can also attack weeds that grow around the field such as Ageratum conyzoides or goatweed. The objective of this research was to study the life cycle, life time, fecundity, and reproduction rate of B. tabaci on Chili pepper and goatweed. The experiment was conducted by observing the development of 50 eggs into adulthood. All 50 eggs were put on one plant and repeated 3 times. The plants were grown at temperatures 25 °C and 29 °C inside growth chamber (L : D = 12 : 12). The result of this experiments showed that at both temperatures of 25 °C and 29 °C, reproductive rate (R0), intrinsic rate of increase (r) and fecundity of B. tabaci were higher on goatweed than Chili pepper. This implies that the existence of goatweed around Chili pepper in the field can serve as a good alternative host for B. tabaci, hereby supporting the pest population even further

Cloud Service Selection System Approach based on QoS Model: A Systematic Review

    Get PDF
The Internet of Things (IoT) has received a lot of interest from researchers recently. IoT is seen as a component of the Internet of Things, which will include billions of intelligent, talkative "things" in the coming decades. IoT is a diverse, multi-layer, wide-area network composed of a number of network links. The detection of services and on-demand supply are difficult in such networks, which are comprised of a variety of resource-limited devices. The growth of service computing-related fields will be aided by the development of new IoT services. Therefore, Cloud service composition provides significant services by integrating the single services. Because of the fast spread of cloud services and their different Quality of Service (QoS), identifying necessary tasks and putting together a service model that includes specific performance assurances has become a major technological problem that has caused widespread concern. Various strategies are used in the composition of services i.e., Clustering, Fuzzy, Deep Learning, Particle Swarm Optimization, Cuckoo Search Algorithm and so on. Researchers have made significant efforts in this field, and computational intelligence approaches are thought to be useful in tackling such challenges. Even though, no systematic research on this topic has been done with specific attention to computational intelligence. Therefore, this publication provides a thorough overview of QoS-aware web service composition, with QoS models and approaches to finding future aspects

25-28In this paper, a novel engineered tetra band microstrip antenna is designed for wireless applications. The proposed antenna is printed on flame-retardant fiberglass epoxy (FR-4) substrate with the dimensions of 40mmx40mmx1.6mm and ground plane etched with rectangular split ring defected ground structure (RSRDGS). The RSRDGS unit cell is used to miniaturize the designed antenna as well as for multiband resonance. The proposed antenna resonates at tetra band frequency points i.e., 3.1GHz, 4.1GHz, 5.1GHz, and 9.8GHz with satisfactory bandwidth of 209MHz, 313MHz, 168MHz, and 195MHz respectively. The total peak gain at tetra band frequency points are 8.54dB, 7.65dB, 1.79dB, and 4.65dB as well as 48% of virtual size miniaturization is achieved. The proposed antenna results make it suitable to use for S-band to X-band wireless applications

Regeneration of Intrabony Defects with Nano Hydroxyapatite Graft, Derived from Eggshell along with Periosteum as Barrier Membrane under Magnification—An Interventional Study

    Get PDF
Intrabony defects can be treated by various approaches. Use of GTR along with bone grafts is said to enhance the outcome. The periosteum has been claimed to increase the regeneration. The egg-shell-derived nano hydroxyapatite (EnHA) has shown a scope as alloplastic graft. Thus, the following study was undertaken to combine the periosteal pedicle along with EnHA for the treatment of intrabony defects under magnification to achieve optimal bone regeneration. A total of 21 patients, having intrabony defects with ≥6 mm probing depth (PD) and two or three wall defects as detected on CBCT, satisfying inclusion criteria were enrolled. The sites were randomly allocated as Group A, B and C (n = 7). The following parameters, defect density and defect fill in CBCT (at baseline and 6 months), PPD, RAL, Plaque index (PI), Gingival index (GI) and Gingival Bleeding Index (GBI) were recorded at baseline, 1, 3 and 6 months. p < 0.05 is considered as statistically significant. Bone density and bone fill values were found to be much higher in pedicle with EnHA and EnHA alone group and the values showed statistically significant results. The current clinical research showed that periosteal pedicle along with EnHA and EnHA as stand-alone therapy gave superior results compared to OFD alone, which is an innovative and feasible treatment option

Inter-sectoral Linkages and Multipliers of MGNREGA in a Rainfed Village in Karnataka: Applications of Social Accounting Matrix (SAM)

    Get PDF
This chapter examines inter-sectoral linkages of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) interventions in a village economy of Karnataka state. This is done using framework of social analysis matrix (SAM) in Markabbinahalli village, a predominantly a rainfed village, of Bijapur District in northern Karnataka. An in-depth survey was done in 2013, SAM of 82 × 82 column and rows (activities) was constructed to analyze direct, indirect and inter-sectoral linkages of village level activities for year of 2012–13, in relation to MGNREGA interventions. The SAM analysis suggests that additional investment of Rs. 1 million by MGNREGA in the studied village increased 1.1% of total income of the village, provided a full employment to 18 households at the rate of 340 days of work per person per household annually at a wage rate of Rs. 300 per day. Major share of the MGNREGA investment went to indirect impact (84%), also known as multiplier effects of the investment. The net impact of MGNREGA on labour income in the studied village was weak due to expenditure to several activities that were produced outside of villages such as machinery uses in construction, skilled labour uses, etc. We suggest that making the programme more demand driven, taking more labour intensive work activities under MGNREGA would also ensure more circulation of MGNREGA expenditures within the local economy, which would produces more employment and income locally due to increased feedback and inter-sectoral linkage (or multiplier) effects

Analysis of Antibody and Cytokine Markers for Leprosy Nerve Damage and Reactions in the INFIR Cohort in India

    Get PDF
Leprosy is one of the oldest known diseases. In spite of the established fact that it is least infectious and a completely curable disease, the social stigma associated with it still lingers in many countries and remains a major obstacle to self reporting and early treatment. The nerve damage that occurs in leprosy is the most serious aspect of this disease as nerve damage leads to progressive impairment and disability. It is important to identify markers of nerve damage so that preventive measures can be taken. This prospective cohort study was designed to look at the potential association of some serological markers with reactions and nerve function impairment. Three hundred and three newly diagnosed patients from north India were recruited for this study. The study attempts to reflect a model of nerve damage initiated by mycobacterial antigens and maintained by ongoing inflammation through cytokines such as Tumour Necrosis Factor alpha and perhaps extended by antibodies against nerve components
