Development of non-equilibrium Green's functions for use with full interaction in complex systems
We present an ongoing development of an existing code for calculating
ground-state, steady-state, and transient properties of many-particle systems.
The development involves the addition of the full four-index two electron
integrals, which allows for the calculation of transport systems, as well as
the extension to multi-level electronic systems, such as atomic and molecular
systems and other applications. The necessary derivations are shown, along with
some preliminary results and a summary of future plans for the code
Narratives of Kingship in Eurasian Empires, 1300-1800
An exploration of the constructions of authority in Eurasian empires in fictional texts of various genres, showing remarkable parallels, and the fluidity of literary material as a repository of cultural/political values. Readership: Scholars and students in the fields of history and literature of Eurasian empires, comparative literature, world literature, ideologies of power and authority
European Translations of the Thousand and One Nights and their reception: Orientalist falsification or literary fascination?
The reception of the Thousand and One Nights, and more specifically of its European translations, have often been analyzed within the theoretical framework of orientalism as a mechanism governing cultural exchange. In this contribution, it is argued that the framework of orientalism, as conceptualized by Edward Said, is insufficient to fully explain and describe the process of the incorporation of the Thousand and One Nights into European literature and subsequently into world literature. Since orientalism as a methodological instrument emphasizes the exoticizing elements within the process of translation and transfer, it highlights ideological aspects and neglects the textual mechanisms involved in the transition of texts across cultural boundaries. In this essay it is argued that the influence of the Thousand and One Nights on world literature should be sought more in these textual aspects, rather than in forms of exoticism and cultural appropriation. Only then can the impact of Thousand and One Nights, as a vital work of literature, be fully appreciated.

Why do the maximum intensities in modeled tropical cyclones vary under the same environmental conditions?
In this study w e explored why the different initial tropical cyclone structures can result in different steady‐state maximum intensities in model simulations with the same environmental conditions. We discovered a linear relationsh ip between the radius of maximum wind (rm) and the absolute angular momentum that passes through rm (Mm) in the model simulated steady‐state tropical cyclones that rm = aMm+b. This nonnegligible intercept b is found to be the key to making a steady‐state storm with a larger Mm more intense. The sensitivity experiments show that this nonzero b results mainly from horizontal turbulent mixing and decreases with decreased horizontal mixing. Using this linear relationship from the simulations, it is also found that the degree of supergradient wind is a function of Mm as well as the turbulent mixing length such that both a larger Mm and/or a reduced turbulent mixing length result in larger supergradient winds
Ozone retention method and system
A method and system of ozone treatment diverts a portion of water from a flow of water in a conduit, injects ozone into the portion to provide an ozonated portion, and recombines the ozonated portion with the flow of water in the conduit. Another method and system identifies a species-destructive reaction product of ozone with a water constituent, determines a life of the reaction product, and contacts ozone with a water containing the species for a period determined according to the determined life of the reaction product
Controlled bypass flow and ozone proportion method and system
A method and system of ozone treatment diverts a portion of water from a flowof water in a conduit; injects an ozone-containing gas into the portion to provide an ozonated portion; recombines the ozonated portion with the flow of water in the conduit; and controls and regulates the diverted portion to provide a minimum diverted portion flow rate according to flow in the conduit andproportion of ozone in the injected gas

The Manuscrit trouvé à Saragosse and the Thousand and one nights
