Study shows effect of surface preparations on improving thermionic emission
Specimen thermionic emitters were electropolished and electroetched to study the effect of surface preparations on improving thermionic emission. The best technique found was to electropolish the annealed rhenium surface and then electroetch it. The effect of electroetching was to remove other crystal planes faster than basal planes
Managing Up: Subtle but Effective Communication with the “Powers That Be”
There are plenty of resources on managing employees but only in recent years has there been an emphasis on managing those to whom we report. The article entitled “Social Styles and the Art of Managing Up” by John R. Darling published in the Journal of Academic Librarianship in 1987 was the springboard for a lively discussion that included seven library directors and eight individuals from a variety of positions
Motion and wake structure of spherical particles
This paper presents results from a flow visualization study of the wake
structures behind solid spheres rising or falling freely in liquids under the
action of gravity. These show remarkable differences to the wake structures
observed behind spheres held fixed. The two parameters controlling the rise or
fall velocity (i.e., the Reynolds number) are the density ratio between sphere
and liquid and the Galileo number.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures. Higher resolution on demand. To appear in

Some Ramsey theorems for finite -colorable and -chromatic graphs
Given a fixed integer , we prove Ramsey-type theorems for the classes of
all finite ordered -colorable graphs, finite -colorable graphs, finite
ordered -chromatic graphs, and finite -chromatic graphs.Comment: 7 page
