    Pregnant women group in primary care: opportunity for construction of knowledge and experiences during pregnancy

    Objectives: To verify the expectations of pregnant women on learning opportunities about pregnancy, labor and delivery; to perform experience workshops based on the expectations of pregnant women; to evaluate the perception of the participants about their experience in the activities developed. Method: Action research, with a quanti-qualitative approach. Data collection was performed at two health centers in the city of Sorocaba, São Paulo, through six workshops, from May to August 2016, by oral interview and sociodemographic profile application. The content of the interviews was organized according to discourse of the collective subject reference and a thematic analysis was applied to the resulting discourses. Results: 10 pregnant women took part in this study. Expectations and perceptions highlighted the following categories: help to health pregnancy and delivery, collective construction of knowledge, bonding, well-being, satisfaction with the group, welcoming space-environment, family, and promotion of self-care and self-esteem. Conclusion: the workshops addressed the expectations expressed by pregnant women regarding the experience in the groups reflecting knowledge building, mobilized unreal conceptions and eliminating doubts of the gestational process. Thus, it was found that the pregnant women group is a health strategy to ensure favorable results for favorable pregnancies, reaching an even greater number of clients

    Profile of nurses working in institutions where care to pregnant, parturient and puerperal women was given in the city of Sorocaba -- SP, Brazil (1999)

    This study aimed at verifying the institutions where pregnant, parturient and puerperal women were given care. It also aimed at identifying the nurses who participate in such caregiving, the activities performed and the problems faced by them and their level of satisfaction at work. Seventy-four nurses were interviewed in the 35 institutions found in Sorocaba, of whom 27% were specialists and 28% were qualified obstetricians. The others had not been trained in that area. The major problems reported were the lack of skills to perform prenatal nursing consultations, shortage of staff and materials and the accumulation of. Seventy-three percent of the interviewees reported to be satisfied in relation to their jobs.El estudio tuvo como objetivo: enumerar las instituciones que atienden a las embarazadas, parturientas y puerperas; identificar las enfermeras que hacen esa atención, las tareas ejecutadas, los problemas enfrentados y el grado de satisfacción con su trabajo. En 35 instituciones fueron entrevistadas 74 enfermeras: 27% especializadas y 28% habilitadas en Obstetricia; las demás no asistieron a cursos en la especialidad.     Effect of the music in labor and newborn

    A música tem sido aplicada para o equilíbrio de energias alteradas pelo stress do mundo moderno. Este estudo objetivou verificar o efeito da música no trabalho de parto e no recém-nascido, quando submetido às mesmas melodias ouvidas por suas mães na gestação. Gestantes, usuárias de Unidades Básicas de Saúde, foram submetidas a sessões de sensibilização musical a partir do quinto mês de gestação. Durante o trabalho de parto, a parturiente foi submetida às melodias selecionadas por ela, com interrupções de 30 minutos a cada duas horas. Os dados foram coletados em três entrevistas realizadas após o parto, em diferentes momentos, e o discurso obtido foi analisado qualitativamente. Constatou-se, pelo conteúdo das falas, que a música minimizou os desconfortos do trabalho de parto e facilitou a adaptação do bebê nos primeiros meses de vida.La música ha sido aplicada para el equilibrio de las energías alteradas por el estrés del mundo moderno. The objective of the present study was to verify the effect of music in labor and on the newborn, when submitted to the same melodies heard by their own mothers during pregnancy. Pregnant women, Health Center users, were submitted to musical sensitization sessions since their fifth month of pregnancy. During labor, the melodies previously selected by the pregnant women were played all the time with a thirty-minute break for every two hours of music. Data collection was performed through interviews performed after labor, at different moments, and the mother' statements were qualitatively analyzed. According to the women's words, music minimized the distress of labor and made it easier for the baby to adjust in the first months of life

    Effect of mother singing on adaptation of preemies to extra-uterine life

    Introduction: Sounds are part of our life and are able to produce effects on physical and emotional balance of people. Objective: To evaluate the effects of mother’s singing on the preemie using as parameters the heart and respiratory frequency and blood oxygen concentration of preemies, and also the mother perception related to baby behavior during the exposition to her singing. Methods: It is an exploratory investigation with quantitative and qualitative analyzes. Twenty preemies babies were observed during three consecutive days. Each child was exposed to the mother singing during ten minutes for three periods. The data were collected before and immediately after the music exposition. The heart and respiratory frequency and blood oxygen concentration of the baby were registered in two moments: pre and post- music exposition; the two measures were analyzed and compared. In the third day, the mother was interviewed to know her perception related to baby behavior during the singing exposition. The assessment of data was performed from March to July 2015 in two public hospitals in Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil. For the statistical analysis, Wilcoxon, Mc Nemar and variance test of Friedman were applied. Results and Conclusion: Statistics showed no significant results, however the qualitative analyzes showed positive results from the mother’s speech, such as benefic changes on babies behavior, recognition of mother’s voice and in helping to consolidate the bond between mother and her baby. s positivos nos discursos obtidos das mães, tais como alterações comportamentais benéficas, reconhecimento da voz materna e auxílio na consolidação do vínculo mãe-bebê.     Reasons that lead mothers looking for a pre-hospital unit as a first option for attendance - Sorocaba/SP

    Objective: to verify the reasons lead mothers to seek the Pre- hospital Unit of Sorocaba Western Zone (UPH-ZO) as first option of attendance and quantify the inappropriate motives for this search. Method: it is an exploratory study with quantitative analyze performed at UPH-ZO through the emergence bulletin (BE) and the mothers or guardians interview. Results: nine hundred mothers and guardians were interviewed. Four reasons prevailed as motivation for search the UPH-ZO by first option: better and quick resolution with technological resources provided; restrict period for attendance at the Basic Health Unit (UBS); delay for appointment in the UBS; lack of Pediatrician in this Unit. The prevalent diagnostic hypothesis in the sample was acute gastroenterocolitis and superior aerial way infections. Conclusions: for the 68.8% of the sample the looking for UPH-ZO was adequate; 31.2% referred reasons that could be solved at the UBS. This Unit must just be the entrance for the users of the Health Unique System (SUS)
