    Background:Ulcerative colitis is one of the inflammatory bowel diseases with unknown etiology. Genetic and environmental factors are thought to be effective in this disease. The aim of this study is to assessment of demographic features and clinical symptoms of ulcerative colitis patients refereed to Emam hospital in Ardabil city.Methods:In this retrospective cross-sectional study, 80 cases of ulcerative colitis referred to Emam hospital in Ardabil city were evaluated during 2004-2011. The diagnosis was confirmed based on clinical features, colonoscopy, and pathology and resulting of other causes. Data were collected through direct interview and analyzed by statistical method in SPSS software.Results:Mean age of patients was 36.4 (SD=18.4). Duration of symptoms onset until diagnosis was 8 months. Male to female ratio was 0.8/1. 38(47.5%) of patients were male and 42 (52.5%) were female. 3 (3.75%) of patients have history of positive UC and 4 (5%) history of appendectomy. According to colonoscopy finding, 1 (1.25%) have rectum involvement, 27 (33.75%) recto sigmoid, 23 (28.75%) left side colon and 4 (5%) have pan colitis.Conclusion:Results showed that in compare with other places, clinical signs of ulcerative colitis in Ardabil province are different and so doing other d epidemiologic studies based on population to determine incidence and prevalence ulcerative colitis in Ardabil province is necessary.

    Background: Burns after traffic accidents, falls and interpersonal violence are the fourth most commonly damaged worldwide. Annually more than 11 million people suffered to sever burns that most of them need for interventions and according WHO statistics, yearly more than 300000 people die from fire-related burns and most of them occurred in low income countries. The aim of this study was Epidemiological study of burns registered in Fatemi hospital in Ardabil, 2016.Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study has been done on 200 burns registered in burn unit of Fatemi hospital in 2016. Information included age, sex, residence place (urban-rural), marital status, time and area of burn, percent and degree of burn, cause and mechanism of burn, hospitalized time and result of treatment completed by a checklist and analyzed by statistical methods in SPSS version 19.Results: Of all patients, 118 (59%) were male, 62.5% rural and 50% single. Most of burns occurred in age group less than 10 with 33%. The most common cause of burns was hot liquids with 51.5%. Most of cases had burn in degree 2 (71%) and 53.5% of cases hospitalized five days in hospital. 93.5% of patients improved and discharged.Conclusions: Results showed that most of burns in this study occurred in age group less than 10 year. So, that it is necessary to prevent these events in future by taking the necessary measures and control and prevention by families

    Di-μ-iodido-bis{[hydroxy(methoxy)bis(2-pyridyl)methane-κ3 N,O,N′]iodidocadmium(II)}

    In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Cd2I4(C12H12N2O2)2], two μ-I atoms bridge two CdII atoms and each CdII atom is also bonded to a terminal I atom and a hydroxy-methoxy-bis(2-pyridyl)methane ligand, which functions in an N,O,N′-tridentate mode, resulting in a distorted octahedral coordination environment. Intermolecular O—H⋯I hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions between the pyridine rings [centroid–centroid distance = 3.790 (2) Å] are present in the crystal structure

    Background: Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the United States and the most commonly diagnosed neurological disorder. About 750,000 strokes occur annually in the United States and about 150,000 people die as a result of stroke. The aim of this study was evaluation of the effect of Metformin on complication of ischemic strokes.Methods: In this randomized, double-blind clinical trial study, 100 patients with ischemic stroke will be assigned randomly into two groups A and B. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) will be used to evaluate the clinical manifestations of ischemic stroke. The two groups will be followed up for 3 months. Metformin 500mg twice in a day will be administered for seven days for group (A) and placebo will be administered for seven days for group (B). Blood glucose will be checked every 6 hours and will be recorded on the blood glucose (BS) chart. Before the intervention, the NIHSS questionnaire will be recorded in one day, three days, seven days and one month, two months, and three months after the intervention will be followed up respectively.Results: In the present study, according to the neuro-protective effects of metformin, there is a significant difference in metformin taking in the reduction of NIHSS Score in non-diabetic stroke patients. There was a significant association in metformin taking and decrease in NIHSS scores in patients with cortical ischemic stroke.Conclusions: According to the results, in patients with cortical stroke, there weren’t a significant difference in NIHSS between the two groups in the first, third and seventh days but in the first, second and third months after intervention the difference was significant. Also, the results showed that metformin reduced the severity and stroke symptoms and accelerated recovery and functional output in patients with cortical stroke after the first, second and third months

    The article in first part is going to review the conceptual evolution of the civil society in the western political thought. It shows how the changes of dominant discourses in political thought and social transition in the west led to change of the interpretations of civil society. In second part the article illustrates Iranian scholars’ interpretations on the concept of civil society in Khatami’s era. Eventually the article concludes that common sense of civil society in Iran was affected by associational theories on civil society particularly Habermas’s public sphere notion and Cohen and Arato’s definition on the concept

    Inter-disciplinary studies in the field of social sciences such as history and sociology are unequivocally vital to gaining a more penetrating insight into human behavior. The article commences with a comparison of the concepts of “inter-disciplinary” and “disciplinary”, an explication of Mikhail Bakhtin’s Dialogism, along with an explanation of other learning theories. The article subsequently delineates the method of inter-disciplinary teaching for history and sociology by emphasizing the necessity of inter-disciplinary studies. Key Words: Inter-Disciplinary Studies, Inter-Disciplinary Education, Dialogism and Historical Sociolog

    In the title compound, [FeCl2(C18H12N2)], the FeII atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetrahedral arrangement by an N,N′-bidentate 2,2′-biquinoline ligand and two chloride ions. In the crystal, there are extensive π–π contacts between the pyridine rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.7611 (3), 3.7603 (4), 3.5292 (4), 3.5336 (5) and 3.6656 (4) Å]

    In the title coordination polymer, [CdI2(C12H12N2)]n, the Cd2+ ion lies on a twofold rotation axis: it is six-coordinated in a distorted cis-CdN2I4 octahedral geometry by two N atoms from a chelating 5,5′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine ligands and four bridging iodide anions. The bridging function of the iodide ions leads to a chain structure propagating in [001]

    The complete molecule of the title compound, [ZnI2(C12H12N2)], is generated by crystallograpic twofold symmetry, with the ZnII atom lying on the rotation axis. The ZnII atom is coordinated by the N,N-bidentate 6,6′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine ligand and two iodide ions, resulting in a distorted ZnN2I2 tetrahedral geometry for the metal. In the crystal, there are weak π–π contacts between the pyridine rings [centroid–centroid distance = 3.978 (3) Å]
