One in four people in the world will be affected by psychological disorders (manasvikara) at some point in their lives - Geneva (WHO). Around 450 million people currently suffer from such conditions, placing psychological disorders (manas vikara) among the leading causes of ill-health and disability worldwide. Depressive disorders are already the fourth leading cause of the global disease burden. They are expected to rank second by 2020, behind ischemic heart disease but ahead of all other diseases. Constant exposure to severely stressful events, dangerous living conditions, exploitation, and cut- throat competitions, mismanaged life style are some main causes of manas vikara at present era. During the past few months, mental health has received public and media attention in an unprecedented manner. This was related to the release of the report of the National Mental Health Survey (NMHS). So mental illnesses are a real health issue, which means you can't treat them with lifestyle changes alone. In conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, though, your treatment options will work more effectively and you'll see more rapid change. Among all these there is a concept that music can play a tremendous role in manas vikara chikitsa which is also mentioned in our Ayurvedic compendias. Music is an age-old part of Ayurveda. Great composers of Indian classical music have attempted music therapy down the years. Legend has it that classical music Maestro Thyagaraja brought a dead person back to life with his composition

According to Ayurveda, Shalmali thorn like eruption on the face due to vitiation of Kaph Pitta Dosha and Rakt dhatu is known as Mukhdushika, a type of kshudraroga. Youvanpidika is the disease seen in adolescence. Its main clinical features are Pidika, Saruja, Ghana and Medogarbha. Doshik symptoms like Kandu, Snigdhata, Daha, Paka, Sotha, Srava, Vaivarnyata are also seen in this disease. Acne Vulgaris is a long term condition characterized by Seborrhoea, Papules, Pustules, Nodules and possibly scarring. It is similar to Mukhdushika. Generally acne vulgaris is a Kaph-Pitta related disease along with the involvement of Rakta dhatu. It has got the chronic course. Initially there will be Kaphadhika Samsarga. In later stages it may undergo Paka with Pidikasamsarga. The searching zone includes Chikitsa of Mukhdushika, Kshudraroga and Kustha and Pidika Chikitsa. Line of treatment by various Acharyas includes Shodhan, Shaman and Bahiparimarjana Chikitsa. Fine tuning in Mukhdushika: 1) If the lesions of Mukhdushika are showing the Pitta dominant lakshanas and involving superficial layers of skin then Virechan and Raktmoshan, Raspachak and Raktprasadan Yogas should be the choice of treatment. 2) If the lesions are showing Kaph dominant lakshanas and involving deeper layers of skin like Shweta, Tamra etc. that means it has got chronic course then Vaman, Nasya, Raktmoshan along with Mamsa-Meda Pachakyogas should be used. In this article, the Vyadhiavastha is also important and should be discussed while treating the Mukhdushika patient to regain the lost beauty and revive the personality

In this fast pacing world, the life is getting over ambitious which ultimately gives rise to stress. Everyone is following inappropriate diet pattern which is full of chemical rich components. All these with some associated factors welcomes new diseases in coming generation. Due to changing life style in females, pregnancy is being avoided and that is why hormonal level gets disturbed which results in imbalance in Artavadhatu. Most of the females suffer from Artavajanyaroga like Raktajgulma. The study was aimed to scientifically specify the disease Raktajgulma mentioned from Brihattrayi and Laghuttrayi and to compare Raktajgulma with modern disease. According to Ayurveda classics in case of Raktajgulma, there is no enlargement seen in abdomen except lower abdominal region. Also in modern view haematometra, abdominal tumor, ovarian cysts, ovarian fibroma and pseudo pregnancy can be correlated with Raktajgulma

Dynamic Community Detection into Analyzing of Wildfires Events

The study and comprehension of complex systems are crucial intellectual and scientific challenges of the 21st century. In this scenario, network science has emerged as a mathematical tool to support the study of such systems. Examples include environmental processes such as wildfires, which are known for their considerable impact on human life. However, there is a considerable lack of studies of wildfire from a network science perspective. Here, employing the chronological network concept -- a temporal network where nodes are linked if two consecutive events occur between them -- we investigate the information that dynamic community structures reveal about the wildfires' dynamics. Particularly, we explore a two-phase dynamic community detection approach, i.e., we applied the Louvain algorithm on a series of snapshots. Then we used the Jaccard similarity coefficient to match communities across adjacent snapshots. Experiments with the MODIS dataset of fire events in the Amazon basing were conducted. Our results show that the dynamic communities can reveal wildfire patterns observed throughout the year.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figure

    Limits on WWZ and WW\gamma couplings from p\bar{p}\to e\nu jj X events at \sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV

    Get PDF
We present limits on anomalous WWZ and WW-gamma couplings from a search for WW and WZ production in p-bar p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV. We use p-bar p -> e-nu jjX events recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider during the 1992-1995 run. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 96.0+-5.1 pb^(-1). Assuming identical WWZ and WW-gamma coupling parameters, the 95% CL limits on the CP-conserving couplings are -0.33<lambda<0.36 (Delta-kappa=0) and -0.43<Delta-kappa<0.59 (lambda=0), for a form factor scale Lambda = 2.0 TeV. Limits based on other assumptions are also presented.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, 2 table

Search for New Physics in e mu X Data at D0 Using Sleuth: A Quasi-Model-Independent Search Strategy for New Physics

    Get PDF
We present a quasi-model-independent search for the physics responsible for electroweak symmetry breaking. We define final states to be studied, and construct a rule that identifies a set of relevant variables for any particular final state. A new algorithm ("Sleuth") searches for regions of excess in those variables and quantifies the significance of any detected excess. After demonstrating the sensitivity of the method, we apply it to the semi-inclusive channel e mu X collected in 108 pb^-1 of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV at the D0 experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. We find no evidence of new high p_T physics in this sample.Comment: 23 pages, 12 figures. Submitted to Physical Review

Search For Heavy Pointlike Dirac Monopoles

    Get PDF
We have searched for central production of a pair of photons with high transverse energies in ppˉp\bar p collisions at s=1.8\sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV using 70pb170 pb^{-1} of data collected with the D\O detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994--1996. If they exist, virtual heavy pointlike Dirac monopoles could rescatter pairs of nearly real photons into this final state via a box diagram. We observe no excess of events above background, and set lower 95% C.L. limits of 610,870,or1580GeV/c2610, 870, or 1580 GeV/c^2 on the mass of a spin 0, 1/2, or 1 Dirac monopole.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figure

The Dijet Mass Spectrum and a Search for Quark Compositeness in bar{p}p Collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV

    Get PDF
Using the DZero detector at the 1.8 TeV pbarp Fermilab Tevatron collider, we have measured the inclusive dijet mass spectrum in the central pseudorapidity region |eta_jet| < 1.0 for dijet masses greater than 200 Gev/c^2. We have also measured the ratio of spectra sigma(|eta_jet| < 0.5)/sigma(0.5 < |eta_jet| < 1.0). The order alpha_s^3 QCD predictions are in good agreement with the data and we rule out models of quark compositeness with a contact interaction scale < 2.4 TeV at the 95% confidence level.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables, submitted to Phys.
