Educação sexual em Pernambuco: a pré-história do conhecimento

O objetivo deste artigo é investigar o nível de conhecimento dos alunos de 2º grau, pertencentes às escolas públicas do Recife, no que diz respeito à educação sexual. Para tanto, foram escolhidas as seguintes variáveis: menstruação, ejaculação, concepção, doenças sexualmente transmissíveis e métodos anticonceptivos. Entre outros aspectos verificou-se que, em se tratando de prática educativa escolar, a forma de ensino-aprendizagem, bem como o conteúdo transmitido e/ou assimilado mostraram-se inadequados. Dessa forma, não se pode ser otimista em relação à contribuição que essa nova geração poderá fornecer no sentido de atuar visando ao controle das doenças sexualmente transmissíveis, de adoção de planejamento familiar, ou mesmo de contribuir positivamente para a sociedade no campo da saúde pública e do bem-estar coletivo. The purpose of this article is to investigate the level of knowledge of high school students, who attend public schools in Recife, concerning the subject of sexual education. In this way, the following variables were chosen: menstruation, ejaculation, conception, sexually transmitted diseases and contraceptive methods. Among other aspects, the study reveals that in terms of schooling educative practice, the teaching/learning form as well as the transmitted and/or assimilated contents proved to be inadequate. In this sense, it is not possible to be optimistic about the new generation's behavior regarding the control of sexually transmitted diseases, family planning adoption, or even about a positive contribution to society in the field of public health and collective welfare

Virgindade e Matrimônio: a opinião dos professores

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar os posicionamentos dos professores de escolas públicas (1º Grau), da cidade do Recife, que se encarregam da transmissão de informações relacionadas ao sexo, em sala de aula, quanto a preferência pela virgindade da filha e do filho, antes do matrimônio. Entre outros aspectos, tentou-se verificar se as variáveis, estado civil, disciplina lecionada e grau de assiduidade ao culto religioso influíam, de alguma forma, nas posturas do professores, no que diz respeito ao tema da virgindade da mulher e do homem. O estudo constata que a maioria dos docentes pesquisados ainda assume posições extremamente preconceituosas, tradicional, com relação à sexualidade feminina. The purpose of this article Is to analyze the attitudes of the primary teachers in the state schools in Recife responsible for conveying in the classroom Information relating to sex with regard to their preference for the virginity of their male and female children before marriage. Among other aspects of the question, an attempt was made to discover whether the teachers, positions regarding male and female virginity was in any way influenced by variables such as marital status, subject taught and degree of assiduity In religious observance. The study reveals that the majority of the teachers questioned still have traditional, extremely prejudiced views on female sexuality

Anticoncepção: a visão do professor.

O levantamento de opiniões e conhecimento de professores acerca da anticoncepção, feito entre docentes da 5ª à 8ª séries do 1º Grau da rede pública no Recife, revela alto grau de desconhecimento sobre métodos anticoncepcionais, assim como um descompasso, por parte de professores católicos, entre sua fé e os preceitos da Igreja, tradicional opositora da maioria das práticas anticoncepcionais

Violência Contra o Menor: até quando?

Este artigo faz parte de uma pesquisa mais ampla intitulada "O Projeto de Vida do Menor Institucionalizado", publicada pela UNICEF em dezembro de 1989. Pretendeu-se, através dos elementos, enfatizar alguns aspectos que permitem perceber a situação de marginalidade social em que vive o menor carente/abandonado e/ou infrator no Estado de Pernambuco tratando, em particular, da questão da violência, que se traduz de diferentes formas, dentre as quais a autora procura destacar algumas que mais incidem sobre os menores internos ria FEBEWPE. Busca-se avaliar como essa problemática afeta o sentimento do menor, ou seja, como ele introjeta e processa o contexto de violência em que vive, fora e dentro da instituição. A pesquisa constata, entre outros, que parcela significativa dos internos sofreu incontáveis violências ao longo da vida, muitos ainda são vitimas de violências dentro da instituição e que, não obstante esses fatos são conformados com essa realidade. This article represents a small part of a broader research entitled "The Life Project of the Institutionalized Minor", published by UNICEF in December/1989. The paper intends to stress some aspects which allow to visualize the situation of social marginality in which live the poor/abandoned and/or infractor minors in the State of Pernambuco dealing, particularly, with the question of violence in its different forms, particularly those which punish the interned minors of FEBEM/PE. The study searches to evaluate how that problem affects the minor's feelings, i. e., how he absorbs and processes the context of violence in which he lives outside and inside the institution. The research confirms, among other findings, that a significant part of the interns suffered innumerable violences through their lives and many are still victims of violence inside the institution, and that they are conformists with that reality

ONGs no Brasil: da filantropia ao feminismo

O presente estudo pretende evidenciar o relevante papel das Organizações Não-Governamentais (ONGs) Feministas, bem como a influência político-transformadora das mulheres na sociedade brasileira. Ao longo das ultimas décadas, a quantidade e a diversidade de demandas, por parte das mulheres, desenharam um cenário bastante nítido da grande insatisfação popular com as esferas da produção e da reprodução. As ONGs Feministas, neste sentido, através de sua articulação política nos níveis internacional, nacional, regional e local, conseguiram abrir um espaço de suma importância no tecido social, permitindo a inclusão, na política, de elementos concretos do cotidiano, e promovendo uma série de mudanças nas relações entre o Estado e a sociedade civil. As ONGs contribuíram, dessa maneira, para a quebra ideológica no perfil androcêntrico da cultura, e romperam a invisibilidade da contribuição das mulheres à democratização social e política no Brasil. This paper aims at showing the relevant role of Feminists Non-Governmental Organizations (NG0s), as well as the influence of women in transforming political scenarios in brazilian society. In the Last few decades, women' variegated demands have outlined a very clear picture of the people's dissatisfaction in productive and reproductive areas. Feminist NG0s, therefore, through their political articulation at international, national, regional and local levels, have succeeded in opening a very important space in the social tissue, allowing the inclusion of daily concrete elements in political life, promoting changes in the relations between society and State. In this sense, the NGOs have helped to break the male ideological influence and have rescued the contribution of women in establishing social and political democracy in Brazil

Trabalhadoras e agrotóxicos no submédio São Francisco

Este artigo objetiva evidenciar o dilema enfrentado pelas trabalhadoras rurais, em Petrolina, Pernambuco, entre a exposição aos agrotóxicos e a necessidade de sobrevivência. A maior parte delas confirmou trabalhar, durante a aplicação de agrotóxicos, e sentir uma variedade de sintomas em decorrência disso. Paradoxalmente, elas defendem o uso de agrotóxico nas plantações, afirmando que eles são imprescindíveis para a obtenção de boas colheitas, garantindo-lhes trabalho e renda. Logo, a questão que se apresenta, não é “ter ou não ter saúde”, mas “ter ou não ter trabalho”. Se a saúde e trabalho não caminham lado a lado, isto é um problema que diz respeito, apenas, às trabalhadoras. Portanto, para garantirem o pão-de-cada-dia, elas têm que defender a utilização do “veneno”, mesmo que ele lhes retire, pouco a pouco, a saúde ou, até, que, precocemente, possa finalizar suas vidas. The objective of this paper is to show the dilemma women agricultural workers face as they are exposed to pesticides and yet have to work to fulfill their survival needs. Strange as it can be, the majority of them was in favour of the use of pesticides. They claimed that chemical products are needed to assure good crops and, therefore, to guarantee their jobs and income. The issue is not “to be or not be healthy”, but “to be or not to be employed”. If health and work are not treated equally, this is a problem only of the workers. As a result, in order to guarantee their “bread”, the women agricultural workers have to defend the use of “poison” even though it affects their health or takes away their lives

Gênero e globalização no Vale do São Francisco

RESUMO Integrando uma pesquisa mais abrangente, intitulada Seca, Mulher e Globalização, analisa o papel das mulheres na agricultura do semi-árido irrigado, as mudanças nas relações de gênero, conseqüentes à sua entrada no mercado de trabalho em Petrolina, além da visão e da informação do empresariado local sobre a mão-de-obra feminina e a participação do município no mercado globalizado. Constata ainda que o empresariado prefere o trabalho feminino na produção de frutas e que as trabalhadoras contribuem para um Nordeste menos miserável e mais produtivo. Part of a more inclusive research named Drought, Woman, and Globalization, the work analyses the role of women in the agriculture, in the irrigated Semi-Arid region the changes of relations between genders as a consequence of the presence of women in the work market in Petrolina. Analyses as well the vision and the level of information of the rural businessmen about the women workmanship and the participation of the county in a global market. Finds out that the rural businessmen would rather the women work in the production of fruits and the women have an important hand in the process of making Northeast less poor and more productive. Intégrant une recherche plus large, intitulée Sécheresse Femme et Mondialisation, les auteurs analysent le rôle des femmes dans l’agriculture du semi-aride irrigué, les changements dans les relations de genre, en conséquence de l’entrée des femmes dans le marché du travail à Petrolina, au-delà de la vision et de l’information des entrepreneurs locaux sur la main-d’oeuvre féminime et la participation de la municipalité dans le marché de la globalisation. Ils constatent encore que les entrepreneurs préfèrent le travail féminin pour la production de fruits et que les travailleuses contribuent à édifier un Nordeste moins misérable et plus productif
