Optical spectroscopy and electronic structure of the GdCux compounds (x = 1, 2, 5)

Optical properties of the GdCu, GdCu2, and GdCu5 compounds with various crystal lattices have been investigated using ellipsometry in a spectral range of 0. 22-16 μm. Theoretical calculations of the electronic structure of these intermetallic compounds have been performed in the approximation of local electron density with the correction for strong electron correlations in a 4f shell of gadolinium ions. Based on the results of calculations, the interpretation of experimental spectra of interband optical conductivity has been proposed. The plasma and relaxation frequencies of conduction electrons have been determined. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

Electronic structure, magnetic and optical properties of intermetallic compounds R2Fe17 (R=Pr,Gd)

In this paper we report comprehensive experimental and theoretical investigation of magnetic and electronic properties of the intermetallic compounds Pr2Fe17 and Gd2Fe17. For the first time electronic structure of these two systems was probed by optical measurements in the spectral range of 0.22-15 micrometers. On top of that charge carriers parameters (plasma frequency and relaxation frequency) and optical conductivity s(w) were determined. Self-consistent spin-resolved bandstructure calculations within the conventional LSDA+U method were performed. Theoretical interpetation of the experimental s(w) dispersions indicates transitions between 3d and 4p states of Fe ions to be the biggest ones. Qualitatively the line shape of the theoretical optical conductivity coincides well with our experimental data. Calculated by LSDA+U method magnetic moments per formula unit are found to be in good agreement with observed experimental values of saturation magnetization.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures, 1 tabl

The present review outlines features of a staged surgical tactics in treating battle and non-battle injuries in military medicine and disaster medicine. The problem of surgical infections in lightly wounded patients and the effectiveness of ozone therapy are also highlighted in the review. The authors introduce the concept of ozone-surgical treatment of wounds which is a combination of its evidence-based methods and acknowledged techniques of surgical care and blockades. The staged regional ozone therapy which is described in the article is an adjuvant surgical aid to prevent wound infection in damaged tissues.В обзорной статье излагаются особенности этапной хирургической тактики боевых и небоевых повреждений в военной медицине и медицине катастроф. Выделена проблема хирургической инфекции у лечебно-эвакуационной категории легкораненых для проведения озонотерапии. Опираясь на преемственность хирургической обработки и блокад, введено понятие «озонохирургическая обработка» с доказательной составляющей ее методик и технических приемов. Представлена тактика этапной регионарной озонотерапии как адъювантного хирургического пособия с целью предотвращения раневой инфекции в поврежденных тканях
