Femtosecond energy transfer between chromophores in allophycocyanin trimers
Ultrafast energy-transfer processes in allophycocyanin (APC) trimers from Mastigocladus laminosus have been examined by a femtosecond absorption technique. Isotropic absorption recovery kinetics with τ=440±30 fs were observed in APC trimers at 615 nm. In APC monomers such a fast process was not observed. The anisotropy in both samples was constant and close to 0.4 during the first few picoseconds. The results are consistent with a model of the APC trimer in which the two APC chromophores have different absorption spectra with maxima about 600 and 650 nm. The transfer of energy from the 600 nm chromophore to the 650 nm chromophore occurs in 440 fs and is dominated by the Förster dipole—dipole energy-transfer mechanism
CompHEP-PYTHIA interface: integrated package for the collision events generation based on exact matrix elements
CompHEP, as a partonic event generator, and PYTHIA, as a generator of final
states of detectable objects, are interfaced. Thus, integrated tool is proposed
for simulation of (almost) arbitrary collision processes at the level of
detectable particles. Exact (multiparticle) matrix elements, convolution with
structure functions, decays, partons hadronization and (optionally) parton
shower evolution are basic stages of calculations. The PEVLIB library of event
generators for LHC processes is described.Comment: Standard LaTeX, 4 pages. To appear in the proceedings of the Seventh

Analysis of cancer genomes reveals basic features of human aging and its role in cancer development
Somatic mutations have long been implicated in aging and disease, but their impact on fitness and function is difficult to assess. Here by analysing human cancer genomes we identify mutational patterns associated with aging. Our analyses suggest that age-associated mutation load and burden double approximately every 8 years, similar to the all-cause mortality doubling time. This analysis further reveals variance in the rate of aging among different human tissues, for example, slightly accelerated aging of the reproductive system. Age-adjusted mutation load and burden correlate with the corresponding cancer incidence and precede it on average by 15 years, pointing to pre-clinical cancer development times. Behaviour of mutation load also exhibits gender differences and late-life reversals, explaining some gender-specific and late-life patterns in cancer incidence rates. Overall, this study characterizes some features of human aging and offers a mechanism for age being a risk factor for the onset of cancer
Estimation Level by the Student Youth of the Ecological Special Features of Water Use.
The specific special features of water (“the memory of water”) with the use of fermentation process of rice in the aqueous medium are investigated. Via questioning was determined estimation by the students of the low-order policies of the chemistry department VNU of the name of Lesya Ukrainka of the ability of water to preserve information about the possible influence of man on the ecological state of water. The majority of respondents considers that water can “take vengeance” upon humanity for the bad treatment and the pollution.Роботу виконано на кафедрі екології та охорони навколишнього середовища ВНУ ім.
