Cohen-Macaulay permutation graphs
In this article, we characterize Cohen-Macaulay permutation graphs. In
particular, we show that a permutation graph is Cohen-Macaulay if and only if
it is well-covered and there exists a unique way of partitioning its vertex set
into disjoint maximal cliques, where is the cardinality of a maximal
independent set of the graph. We also provide some sufficient conditions for a

Rainfall Prediction with Machine Learning Algorithms
Predicting when and how much rain will fall is a difficult and unpredictable process that has far-reaching consequences for human civilization. Predictions that are both timely and accurate may be used to proactively reduce casualties and property damage. This research provides a series of experiments that employ popular machine learning methods to construct models that predict whether or not it will rain the next day in major Australian cities based on meteorological data for that day. Modelling inputs, modelling approaches, and pre-processing procedures are the focal points of this comparative analysis. The findings compare and contrast the performance of different machine learning methods in making accurate weather predictions using a variety of assessment measures

large plastics (macro plastics) can degrade and
become smaller meso or micro plastics which
can be ingested by fishes and invertebrates.
Low density plastics (eg. Poly propylene or
polyethylene) are dominant in the top layers for a
certain period of their entry, may suffer biofouling
causing it to sink gradually. High density plastics
(PVC, Polyester and polyamides) usually sink to
the bottom. Macro, Meso and Micro polymers

Synthesis of photoactivable Pt(IV) prodrug loaded on NaYF4 based upconversion nanoparticles functionalized with 2-deoxy-D-glucose and its evaluation for targeted cancer therapy
21-30Nano-formulation based on Tm, Yb doped NaYF4 upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) functionalized with 2-deoxy-D-glucose have been synthesized to load the photoactivable Pt(IV) prodrug, cis-[PtI2(NH3)2(OCOCH2CH2COOH)2]. The Pt(IV) prodrug has been synthesized by oxidation of cis-[PtI2(NH3)2] to [PtI2(OH)2(NH3)2] and its further treatment with succinic anhydride. It is loaded through ester bond formation between the carboxyl groups of Pt(IV) prodrug with hydroxyl groups of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) coated on UCNPs. The cytotoxicity of formulation after exposing to 385 nm UV light and in absence of light is evaluated against MCF-7 cell lines by MTT assay. The results have revealed enhanced cytotoxicity of UV exposed nano-formulation. Additionally, the clonogenic assay has exhibited the decrease in plating efficiency as inferred from decreased surviving fraction around 20% only for UV activated formulation as compared to formulation in dark, as well as merely Pt(IV) prodrug. These results are indicative that more internalization of the formulation inside the cancer cells was achieved due to the presence of 2-DG rendering more efficiency to kill cancer cells

Considering the benefits and drawbacks of goat milk over cow milk is essential; goat milk is more digestible, has unique alkalinity, has a better buffering capacity, and has certain medicinal benefits. Acidifying goat milk shrinks fat globules and makes protein friable (with less αs1-casein and more αs2-casein). Goat milk treats malabsorption illnesses because it has more short- and medium-chain triglycerides that give developing children energy. In wealthy countries, goat milk and its products—yoghurt, cheeses, and powdered goods—are popular with connoisseurs and persons with allergies and gastrointestinal issues who need alternative dairy products. A food product category containing fermented goat milk with live probiotic microbes appears promising nutritionally and medicinally. A regenerative microchannel device for recording multiple single-unit action potentials in awake, ambulatory animals
Despite significant advances in robotics, commercially advanced prosthetics provide only a small fraction of the functionality of the amputated limb that they are meant to replace. Peripheral nerve interfacing could provide a rich controlling link between the body and these advanced prosthetics in order to increase their overall utility. Here, we report on the development of a fully integrated regenerative microchannel interface with 30 microelectrodes and signal extraction capabilities enabling evaluation in an awake and ambulatory rat animal model. In vitro functional testing validated the capability of the microelectrodes to record neural signals similar in size and nature to those that occur invivo. In vitro dorsal root ganglia cultures revealed striking cytocompatibility of the microchannel interface. Finally, invivo, the microchannel interface was successfully used to record a multitude of single-unit action potentials through 63% of the integrated microelectrodes at the early time point of 3weeks. This marks a significant advance in microchannel interfacing, demonstrating the capability of microchannels to be used for peripheral nerve interfacing

Challenges of COVID-19 Case Forecasting in the US, 2020–2021
During the COVID-19 pandemic, forecasting COVID-19 trends to support planning and response was a priority for scientists and decision makers alike. In the United States, COVID-19 forecasting was coordinated by a large group of universities, companies, and government entities led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the US COVID-19 Forecast Hub (https://covid19forecasthub.org). We evaluated approximately 9.7 million forecasts of weekly state-level COVID-19 cases for predictions 1-4 weeks into the future submitted by 24 teams from August 2020 to December 2021. We assessed coverage of central prediction intervals and weighted interval scores (WIS), adjusting for missing forecasts relative to a baseline forecast, and used a Gaussian generalized estimating equation (GEE) model to evaluate differences in skill across epidemic phases that were defined by the effective reproduction number. Overall, we found high variation in skill across individual models, with ensemble-based forecasts outperforming other approaches. Forecast skill relative to the baseline was generally higher for larger jurisdictions (e.g., states compared to counties). Over time, forecasts generally performed worst in periods of rapid changes in reported cases (either in increasing or decreasing epidemic phases) with 95% prediction interval coverage dropping below 50% during the growth phases of the winter 2020, Delta, and Omicron waves. Ideally, case forecasts could serve as a leading indicator of changes in transmission dynamics. However, while most COVID-19 case forecasts outperformed a naïve baseline model, even the most accurate case forecasts were unreliable in key phases. Further research could improve forecasts of leading indicators, like COVID-19 cases, by leveraging additional real-time data, addressing performance across phases, improving the characterization of forecast confidence, and ensuring that forecasts were coherent across spatial scales. In the meantime, it is critical for forecast users to appreciate current limitations and use a broad set of indicators to inform pandemic-related decision making
