Hepatoprotective effect of Foeniculum vulgare essential oil: A carbon-tetrachloride induced liver fibrosis model in rats

    Get PDF
Hepatoprotective activity of Foeniculum vulgare (fennel) essential oil was studied using a carbon tetrachloride-  induced liver fibrosis model in rats. The hepatotoxicity produced by chronic carbon tetrachloride administration  was found to be inhibited by Foeniculum vulgare essential oil with evidence of decreased levels of  serum aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin. Histopathological  findings also suggest that Foeniculum vulgare essential oil prevents the development of chronic liver  damage. The changes in body weights in the rats assigned to the study groups supported these biochemical  and histopathological findings. The results of this study clearly indicate that Foeniculum vulgare essential oil  has a potent hepatoprotective action against carbon tetrachloride-induced liver fibrosis in rats.

In this thesis, modelling and simulation studies for the hybridization of a conventional diesel vehicle are dealt and a control algorithm is developed. Alternative hybrid vehicle configurations are investigated and modelling of hybrid components is given with the longitudinal vehicle dynamics. With respect to desired design criteria, a suitable configuration is chosen and hybrid components are sized in such a way fitting performance and fuel economy requirements. In order to obtain the prototype vehicle, modifications made on base vehicle are explained. In laboratory, a hybrid vehicle simulator is formed and a control algorithm for the fuel consumption optimization is developed. This instantaneous optimization based algorithm is transformed to an adaptive algorithm and tested on prototype vehicle. The experimental results are compared with the simulation results.Yüksek LisansM.Sc

Turan, Murat Can (Arel Author)This paper presents the cooperative adaptive cruise control implementation of Team Mekar at the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge (GCDC). The Team Mekar vehicle used a dSpace microautobox for access to the vehicle controller area network bus and for control of the autonomous throttle intervention and the electric-motor-operated brake pedal. The vehicle was equipped with real-time kinematic Global Positioning System (RTK GPS) and an IEEE 802.11p modem installed in an onboard computer for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. The Team Mekar vehicle did not have an original-equipment-manufacturers-supplied adaptive cruise control (ACC). ACC/Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) based on V2V-communicated GPS position/velocity and preceding vehicle acceleration feedforward were implemented in the Team Mekar vehicle. This paper presents experimental and simulation results of the Team Mekar CACC implementation, along with a discussion of the problems encountered during the GCDC cooperative mobility runs
