The ecodist Package for Dissimilarity-based Analysis of Ecological Data
Ecologists are concerned with the relationships between species composition and environmental framework incorporating space explicitly is an extremely flexible tool for answering these questions. The R package ecodist brings together methods for working with dissimilarities, including some not available in other R packages. We present some of the features of ecodist, particularly simple and partial Mantel tests, and make recommendations for their effective use. Although the partial Mantel test is often used to account for the effects of space, the assumption of linearity greatly reduces its effectiveness for complex spatial patterns. We introduce a modification of the Mantel correlogram designed to overcome this restriction and allow consideration of complex nonlinear structures. This extension of the method allows the use of partial multivariate correlograms and tests of relationship between variables at different spatial scales. Some of the possibilities are demonstrated using both artificial data and data from an ongoing study of plant community composition in grazinglands of the northeastern United States.
Harnessing the power of cell transplantation to target respiratory dysfunction following spinal cord injury.
The therapeutic benefit of cell transplantation has been assessed in a host of central nervous system (CNS) diseases, including disorders of the spinal cord such as traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). The promise of cell transplantation to preserve and/or restore normal function can be aimed at a variety of therapeutic mechanisms, including replacement of lost or damaged CNS cell types, promotion of axonal regeneration or sprouting, neuroprotection, immune response modulation, and delivery of gene products such as neurotrophic factors, amongst other possibilities. Despite significant work in the field of transplantation in models of SCI, limited attention has been directed at harnessing the therapeutic potential of cell grafting for preserving respiratory function after SCI, despite the critical role pulmonary compromise plays in patient outcome in this devastating disease. Here, we will review the limited number of studies that have demonstrated the therapeutic potential of intraspinal transplantation of a variety of cell types for addressing respiratory dysfunction in SCI
Brane Cosmology and KK Gravitinos
The cosmology of KK gravitinos in models with extra dimensions is considered.
The main result is that the production of such KK modes is not compatible with
an epoch of non--standard expansion after inflation. This is so because the BBN
constraint on the zero mode forces the reduced five dimensional Planck mass
down to values much smaller than the usual four dimensional one, but this
in turn implies many KK states available for a given temperature. Once these
states are taken into account one finds that there is no for which the
produced KK gravitinos satisfy BBN and overclosure constraints. This conclusion
holds for both flat and warped models in which only gravity propagates in the

ENIGMA: Efficient Learning-based Inference Guiding Machine
ENIGMA is a learning-based method for guiding given clause selection in
saturation-based theorem provers. Clauses from many proof searches are
classified as positive and negative based on their participation in the proofs.
An efficient classification model is trained on this data, using fast
feature-based characterization of the clauses . The learned model is then
tightly linked with the core prover and used as a basis of a new parameterized
evaluation heuristic that provides fast ranking of all generated clauses. The
approach is evaluated on the E prover and the CASC 2016 AIM benchmark, showing

Automated Reasoning and Presentation Support for Formalizing Mathematics in Mizar
This paper presents a combination of several automated reasoning and proof
presentation tools with the Mizar system for formalization of mathematics. The
combination forms an online service called MizAR, similar to the SystemOnTPTP
service for first-order automated reasoning. The main differences to
SystemOnTPTP are the use of the Mizar language that is oriented towards human
mathematicians (rather than the pure first-order logic used in SystemOnTPTP),
and setting the service in the context of the large Mizar Mathematical Library
of previous theorems,definitions, and proofs (rather than the isolated problems
that are solved in SystemOnTPTP). These differences poses new challenges and
new opportunities for automated reasoning and for proof presentation tools.
This paper describes the overall structure of MizAR, and presents the automated
reasoning systems and proof presentation tools that are combined to make MizAR

Experimental Determination of the 1 Sigma(+) State Electric-Dipole-Moment Function of Carbon Monoxide up to a Large Internuclear Separation
Experimental intensity information is combined with numerically obtained vibrational wave functions in a nonlinear least squares fitting procedure to obtain the ground electronic state electric-dipole-moment function of carbon monoxide valid in the range of nuclear oscillation (0.87 to 1.01 A) of about the V = 38th vibrational level.
