Anthriscus nemorosa essential oil inhalation prevents memory impairment, anxiety and depression in scopolamine-treated rats
Anthriscus nemorosa (Bieb.) Sprengel is used for medicinal purposes in traditional medicine around the world, including Turkey. Ethnobotanical studies suggest that Anthriscus essential oil could improve memory in Alzheimer’s disease. The current study was hypothesized to investigate the beneficial effects of inhaled Anthriscus nemorosa essential oil on memory, anxiety and depression in scopolamine-treated rats. Anthriscus nemorosa essential oil was administered by inhalation in the doses of 1% and 3% for 21
continuous days and scopolamine (0.7 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally 30 min before the behavioral testing. Y-maze and radial arm-maze tests were used for assessing memory processes. Also, the anxiety and depressive responses were studied by elevated plus-maze and forced swimming tests. As expected, the scopolamine alone-treated rats exhibited the following: decrease the percentage of the spontaneous alternation in Y-maze test, increase the number of working and reference memory errors in radial arm-maze test, decrease of the exploratory activity, the percentage of the time spent and the number of entries in the open arm within elevated plus-maze test and decrease of swimming time and increase of immobility time within forced swimming test. However, dual scopolamine and Anthriscus nemorosa essential oil-treated rats showed significant improvement of memory formation and exhibited anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects in scopolamine-treated rats. These results suggest that Anthriscus nemorosa essential oil inhalation can prevent scopolamineinduced
memory impairment, anxiety and depression.Emel Aydin Akbaba was supported by LLP Erasmus (2013/2014), Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iasi, Romani
SDS-PAGE ANALYSIS OF PROTEINS FROM THE SEEDS OF HONEYLOCUST (GLEDITSIA TRIACANTHOS) DURING GERMINATION
The main objective of the experiment was to observe the variety and evolution of the proteins during
germination of the seeds from the honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos). Using the technique of SDS-PAGE there were
discovered a lot of protein fractions. The profile of these fractions varies from the wide distribution along the entire
molecular masses spectrum at the beginning of the germination to a poorly represented profile of protein fractions at the
end of the germination
A preliminary analysis of the aspartateaminotransferase isozymes in Gleditsia triacanthos and Robinia pseudacacia germinating seeds
The extracts made with sodium/potassium phosphate buffer from the probes collected during
germination of the seeds from Gleditsia triacanthos and Robinia pseudacacia was subjected to polyacrylamide gel
electrophoresis under native conditions. Then the solution for specific coloring of the bands in which are found the
izoenzymes of aspartate-aminotransferase was poured over the gel. The coloring reaction was stopped by rinsing the gel
with distilled water when the intensity of the coloration was considered optimal. The results were interesting showing the
existence of more than one spot corresponding to aspartate-aminotransferase in almost all analyzed probes. At least one
of the spots from each of the probes presents the same Rf as the standard we have used (SigmaAldrich Glutamic-
Oxalacetic Transaminase from porcine heart, Type II-A, lyophilized powder, 100-400 units/mg protein).
The main purpose of the paper was to find if there are any different isozymes of the aspartate-aminotransferase
in the extracts made with sodium/potassium phosphate buffer from the probes collected during germination of the seeds
from Gleditsia triacanthos and Robinia pseudaca
THE IMPACT OF CoFeO 4 NANOPARTICLES ON SOLUBLE PROTEIN CONTENT AT WHITE ROT FUNGUS Phanerochaete chrysosporium
Experimental investigation focused on influence of different CoFeO4 nanoparticles concentrations on soluble
protein and electrophoretic pattern of Phanerochaete chrysosporium fungus. Number of electrophoretic fraction is higher
in older mycelium P. chrysosporium 14-day-old compared to that 7-day-old. Moreover, there is an increase in staining
intensity of polypeptides of mycelium 14-day-old fact confirmed also by the higher amount of soluble protein. On the other
hand, there are no visible differences as regards the different concentrations of nanoparticles effect on the polypeptides
pattern
THE VALUES OF C - REACTIVE PROTEIN FOR SOME EARLY- DIAGNOSED WITH MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION PATIENTS
C-reactive protein (CRP) is an indirect risk factor in the acute coronary syndromes [2,13,21]. Its high levels
may reflect one of the following cases: an inflammation of the coronary arteries as a response to the infectious agents; the
severeness of the inflammatory response within the atherosclerotic vessels; inflammation expansion associated with
myocardial ischemia; inflammation expansion associated with myocardial necrosis. Therefore, CRP indicates the cardiac
lesions specific to various coronary heart diseases. The prognostic value of CRP augmentation appears to be more
important in the patients affected by myocardial lesions [21].
This present study is aimed to determine the CRP levels in female and male patients of different age groups, early
diagnosed with myocardial infarction
The influence of the attack of the fungus Melampsorella caryophyllacearum (DC.) J. Schrot. (Witch brooms on fir) on the peroxidase and catalase activity in host plant
n this paper are presented the results concerning the influence of the attack of the fungus Melampsorella
caryophyllacearum (witch brooms on fir) on the peroxidase and catalase activity in host plant. The research were
effectued in year 2007 in the stationary Izvorul Muntelui and Cerebuc from Ceahlu massif and the obtained results
highlights the fact that those two biochemical parameters were influenced differently by the attack of the parasitic fungus
