Membangun Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Dalam Pembelajaran Matematika

Until now, the role of teachers in building students\u27 mathematical communication skills, especially in mathematics is still very limited. Communication skills are a very important aspect that needs to be owned by students who want to succeed in their studies. Similarly, according to Kist (Clark, 2005) effective communication skills is an ability that needs to be owned by the students for all subjects. Mathematical communication skills (mathematical communication) in the learning of mathematics is very necessary to be developed. This is because through mathematical communication students can organize mathematical thinking both orally and in writing. In addition, students are also able to provide an appropriate response among students and media in the learning process. Even in the association community, someone who has good communication skills will tend to be more adaptable to anyone where it is located in a community, which in turn will be a success in life.In this paper, the author presents the notion of mathematical communication skills, with coverage of two things: the ability of students to use mathematics as a tool of communication (language of mathematics), and the student\u27s ability to communicate mathematics is learned as the content of the message should be delivered. How and why communication is important to build a mathematical community through open communication in the classroom

Fluctuation-induced forces between inclusions in a fluid membrane under tension

We discuss the fluctuation-induced force, a finite-temperature analog of the Casimir force, between two inclusions embedded in a fluid membrane under tension. We suggest a method to calculate this Casimir interaction in the most general case, where membrane fluctuations are governed by the combined action of surface tension, bending modulus, and the Gaussian rigidity. We find that the surface tension strongly modifies the power law in the separation dependence of the Casimir interaction. This results in a strong suppression of the Casimir force at separations beyond a characteristic length, which could affect protein aggregation dynamics in cell membranes.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Traditional Education and Folktales: A Stimulus to Literacy Amongst the Nomadic Fulani

Across the savannah lands of West Africa are scattered the pastoral Fulani (Fulbena\u27i). They are a nomadic people who move in rhythm with the rain cycle. During the dry season they move in closer to the riverine areas. During the wet season they withdraw into the bush to escape the disease carrying tsetse flies. After the harvest season their cattle can be seen grazing on the grain stubble left behind by the farmers. In return the fields are manured for the farmers. In the markets the pastoralists can be seen selling their dairy products and buying grain. They are nominally muslim but always seem more interested in cattle than in religion. They have only marginally been affected by the modernisations taking place around them. Their life-style and subsequent lack of interest in formal education effectively insulates them from modem life. It is their resistance to change that is both a challenge and a burden to educationists. If attempts to bring the Fulani into the mainstream of modern life are to be successful more needs to be known about these people. This is especially so if one wants to avoid humiliating a proud and self-reliant people. In this study we have examined one portion of Fulani culture, their folktales. There are many types of folktales and they all give insight into the subtleties of the collective view that a people holds of its society and world

The success of students in learning activities, can not be separated from the behavior of students in the learning factor. Powerpoint media utilization and models of cooperative learning in class IX Civics Junior High School for the acquisition of student learning behavior is the focus of research. This research aims to know clearly about the instructional design Civics, measures of media use powerpoint, evaluation of learning, and behavior of student learning with the use of media in teaching civics powerpoint cooperative model. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach. Acquisition of data through interviews, observation, and documentation. Powerpoint media utilization and models of cooperative learning in class IX Civics junior high school can improve students' learning behavior

Formulation of Mucoadhesive Ketoprofen Granule Using Chitosan Polymer

The aim of this research was to formulate of mucoadhesive ketoprofen granules using chitosan polymer. Ketoprofen granules were prepared by wet granulation method with several concentrations of chitosan polymer 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% (w/v). Granules were evaluated physically and chemically. In vitro dissolution test was carried out for 6 hours using a basket method in buffer phosphate medium pH 7.4. General evaluation of granules showed the yield was relatively good. In vitro mucoadhesive test exhibited that mucoadhesive ketoprofen granules using chitosan polymer could provide mucoadhesive properties to stomach and intestinal of rabbits. The statistics tests for dissolution efficiency with one ways ANOVA (SPSS 17) showed a significant different among F0, F1, F2 and F3 (P0.05). All the formulas followed Langenbucher kinetic release model

The background research that the level of difficulty for students at SDN 14 Sadaniang in civic education absorbing subject matter is quite alarming. The purpose of this study to describe the use of instructional civics teaching media to improve motivation and learning outcomes in grade IV SDN 14 Sadaninag. The method used in this study was Quasi Experimental Research. These samples included 20 students. Data analysis techniques used t test. The research findings are that there are differences in student motivation and learning outcomes without the use of instructional media civics in class IV SDN 14 Sadaniang. The research findings are that motivation and student learning outcomes before using instructional media is low because of the three meetings, there are students who do not reach the KKM. While using the media after learning motivation and learning outcomes of students increased because of 3 sessions, all students reach KKM
