We show that a random 3-manifold with positive first Betti number admits a tower of cyclic covers with exponential torsion growth

Non-minimality of corners in subriemannian geometry

We give a short solution to one of the main open problems in subriemannian geometry. Namely, we prove that length minimizers do not have corner-type singularities. With this result we solve Problem II of Agrachev's list, and provide the first general result toward the 30-year-old open problem of regularity of subriemannian geodesics.Comment: 11 pages, final versio

Metric Möbius geometry and a characterization of spheres

We obtain a Möbius characterization of the n-dimensional spheres Sn endowed with the chordal metric d0. We show that every compact extended Ptolemy metric space with the property that every three points are contained in a circle is Möbius equivalent to (Sn, d0) for some n ≥ 1
