Agglomeration mechanism during the preparation of nickel(0) and iron(0) zeolites
Magnetization measurements have been used to study the reduction process of Ni - zeolites and the thermal decomposition of
iron pentacarbonyl adsorbed on NaY zeolites . The Ni(0) particle size distribution in H2»reduced NiNaA, Ni NaX, Ni NaY and
NiNaM is bidisperse. The amount and the volume of particles
exceeding the cage dimensions increases in the sequence Μ,Υ,Χ,Α
zeolites. Particle fusion is found to be the rate determining
step. With decomposition of Fe(C0)5/NaY adducts, up to 97 wt.%
of the iron particles produced are smaller than 1.3 nm. Fluidized
sample bed, inert gas atmosphere and fast heating up to
440 Κ are essential to reach mononodal dispersion
Interaction of vortices in superconductors with kappa close to 2^(-1/2)
Using a perturbative approach to the infinitely degenerate Bogomolnyi vortex
state for a superconductor with kappa = 2^(-1/2), T -> T_c, we calculate the
interaction of vortices in a superconductor with kappa close to 2^(-1/2). We
find, numerically and analytically, that depending on the material the
interaction potential between the vortices varies with decreasing kappa from
purely repulsive (as in a type-II superconductor) to purely attractive (as in a
type-I superconductor) in two different ways: either vortices form a bound
state and the distance between them changes gradually from infinity to zero, or
this transition occurs in a discontinuous way as a result of a competition
between minima at infinity and zero. We study the discontinuous transition
between the vortex and Meissner states caused by the non-monotonous vortex

Magnetic structures of RbCuCl_3 in a transverse field
A recent high-field magnetization experiment found a phase transition of
unknown character in the layered, frustrated antiferromagnet RbCuCl_3, in a
transverse field (in the layers). Motivated by these results, we have examined
the magnetic structures predicted by a model of RbCuCl_3, using the classical
approximation. At small fields, we obtain the structure already known to be
optimal, an incommensurate (IC) spiral with wave vector q in the layers. At
higher fields, we find a staircase of long-period commensurate (C) phases
(separated initially by the low-field IC phase), then two narrow IC phases,
then a fourth IC phase (also with intermediate C phases), and finally the
ferromagnetically aligned phase at the saturation field H_S. The
three-sublattice C states familiar from the theory of the triangular
antiferromagnet are never optimal. The C phases and the two intermediate IC
phases were previously unknown in this context. The magnetization is
discontinuous at a field \approx 0.4H_S, in qualitative agreement with
experiment, though we find much fine structure not reported.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

Alternative antibody for the detection of CA125 antigen: a European multicenter study for the evaluation of the analytical and clinical performance of the Access (R) OV Monitor assay on the UniCel (R) Dxl 800 Immunoassay System
Background: Cancer antigen CA125 is known as a valuable marker for the management of ovarian cancer. Methods: The analytical and clinical performance of the Access OV Monitor Immunoassay System (Beckman Coulter) was evaluated at five different European sites and compared with a reference system, defined as CA125 on the Elecsys System (Roche Diagnostics). Results: Total imprecision (%CV) of the OV Monitor ranged between 3.1% and 8.8%, and inter-laboratory reproducibility between 4.7% and 5.0%. Linearity upon dilution showed a mean recovery of 100% (SD+8.1%). Endogenous interferents had no influence on OV Monitor levels (mean recoveries: hemoglobin 107%, bilirubin 103%, triglycericles 103%). There was no high-dose hook effect up to 27,193 kU/L. Clinical performance investigated in sera from 1811 individuals showed a good correlation between the Access OV Monitor and Elecsys CA125 (R = 0.982, slope = 0.921, intercept = + 1.951). OV Monitor serum levels were low in healthy individuals (n = 267, median = 9.7 kU/L, 95th percentile = 30.8 kU/L), higher in individuals with various benign diseases (n = 549, medians = 10.9-16.4 kU/L, 95th percentiles = 44.2-355 kU/L) and even higher in individuals suffering from various cancers (n = 995, medians= 12.4-445 kU/L; 95th percentiles = 53.4-4664 kU/L). Optimal diagnostic accuracy for cancer detection against the relevant benign control group by the OV Monitor was found for ovarian cancer {[}area under the curve (AUC) 0.898]. Results for the reference CA125 assay were comparable (AUC 0.899). Conclusions: The Access OV Monitor provides very good methodological characteristics and demonstrates an excellent analytical and clinical correlation with Elecsys CA125. The best diagnostic accuracy for the OV Monitor was found in ovarian cancer. Our results also suggest a clinical value of the OV Monitor in other cancers
The structure of hot gas in Cepheus B
By observing radiation-affected gas in the Cepheus B molecular cloud we probe
whether the sequential star formation in this source is triggered by the
radiation from newly formed stars. We used the dual band receiver GREAT onboard
SOFIA to map [C II] and CO 13--12 and 11--10 in Cep B and compared the spatial
distribution and the spectral profiles with complementary ground-based data of
low- transitions of CO isotopes, atomic carbon, and the radio continuum. The
interaction of the radiation from the neighboring OB association creates a
large photon-dominated region (PDR) at the surface of the molecular cloud
traced through the photoevaporation of C^+. Bright internal PDRs of hot gas are
created around the embedded young stars, where we detect evidence of the
compression of material and local velocity changes; however, on the global
scale we find no indications that the dense molecular material is dynamically

On coalgebras with internal moves
In the first part of the paper we recall the coalgebraic approach to handling
the so-called invisible transitions that appear in different state-based
systems semantics. We claim that these transitions are always part of the unit
of a certain monad. Hence, coalgebras with internal moves are exactly
coalgebras over a monadic type. The rest of the paper is devoted to supporting
our claim by studying two important behavioural equivalences for state-based
systems with internal moves, namely: weak bisimulation and trace semantics.
We continue our research on weak bisimulations for coalgebras over order
enriched monads. The key notions used in this paper and proposed by us in our
previous work are the notions of an order saturation monad and a saturator. A
saturator operator can be intuitively understood as a reflexive, transitive
closure operator. There are two approaches towards defining saturators for
coalgebras with internal moves. Here, we give necessary conditions for them to
yield the same notion of weak bisimulation.
Finally, we propose a definition of trace semantics for coalgebras with
silent moves via a uniform fixed point operator. We compare strong and weak
