    Coriolis force corrections to g-mode spectrum in 1D MHD model

    The corrections to g-mode frequencies caused by the presence of a central magnetic field and rotation of the Sun are calculated. The calculations are carried out in the simple one dimensional magnetohydrodynamical model using the approximations which allow one to find the purely analytical spectra of magneto-gravity waves beyond the scope of the JWKB approximation and avoid in a small background magnetic field the appearance of the cusp resonance which locks a wave within the radiative zone. These analytic results are compared with the satellite observations of the g-mode frequency shifts which are of the order one per cent as given in the GOLF experiment at the SoHO board. The main contribution turns out to be the magnetic frequency shift in the strong magnetic field which obeys the used approximations. In particular, the fixed magnetic field strength 700 KG results in the mentioned value of the frequency shift for the g-mode of the radial order n=-10.     Sterile Neutrinos and Future Solar Neutrino Experiments

    It is shown that future solar neutrino experiments (SNO, Super-Kamiokande and others), in which high energy neutrinos will be detected (mostly from 8B decay), may allow to answer in a model independent way the question whether there are transitions of solar νe\nu_e's into sterile states. No assumptions about the initial flux of 8B neutrinos are done. Lower bounds for the probability of transition of solar νe\nu_e's into all possible sterile states are derived and expressed through measurable quantities.Comment: DFTT 62/93. 11 pages, 1 figure (included).     Time-dependent metabolomic profiling of Ketamine drug action reveals hippocampal pathway alterations and biomarker candidates

    Ketamine, an N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antagonist, has fast-acting antidepressant activities and is used for major depressive disorder (MDD) patients who show treatment resistance towards drugs of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) type. In order to better understand Ketamine's mode of action, a prerequisite for improved drug development efforts, a detailed understanding of the molecular events elicited by the drug is mandatory. In the present study we have carried out a timedependent hippocampal metabolite profiling analysis of mice treated with Ketamine. After a single injection of Ketamine, our metabolomics data indicate time-dependent metabolite level alterations starting already after 2 h reflecting the fast antidepressant effect of the drug. In silico pathway analyses revealed that several hippocampal pathways including glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, pentose phosphate pathway and citrate cycle are affected, apparent by changes not only in metabolite levels but also connected metabolite level ratios. The results show that a single injection of Ketamine has an impact on the major energy metabolism pathways. Furthermore, seven of the identified metabolites qualify as biomarkers for the Ketamine drug response

    The Rotation Of The Deep Solar Layers

    From the analysis of low-order GOLF+MDI sectoral modes and LOWL data (l > 3), we derive the solar radial rotation profile assuming no latitudinal dependance in the solar core. These low-order acoustic modes contain the most statistically significant information about rotation of the deepest solar layers and should be least influenced by internal variability associated with the solar dynamo. After correction of the sectoral splittings for their contamination by the rotation of the higher latitudes, we obtain a flat rotation profile down to 0.2 solar radius.Comment: accepted in ApJ Letters 5 pages, 2 figure

    Electron- and neutrino-nucleus scattering in the impulse approximation regime

    A quantitative understanding of the weak nuclear response is a prerequisite for the analyses of neutrino experiments such as K2K and MiniBOONE, which measure energy and angle of the muons produced in neutrino-nucleus interactions in the energy range 0.5−30.5-3 GeV and reconstruct the incident neutrino energy to determine neutrino oscillations. In this paper we discuss theoretical calculations of electron- and neutrino-nucleus scattering, carried out within the impulse approximation scheme using realistic nuclear spectral functions.Comparison between electron scattering data and the calculated inclusive cross section off oxygen, at beam energies ranging between 700 and 1200 MeV, show that the Fermi gas model, widely used in the analysis of neutrino oscillation experiments,fails to provide a satisfactory description of the measured cross sections,and inclusion of nuclear dynamics is needed.Comment: 12 pages, 15 figure
