    Digital transformation in higher education, especially after COVID-19 is inevitable. This research explores digital transformation maturity and challenges post COVID-19. The significance of the study does not only stem from the critical role of higher education in building the workforce and knowledge economy. This study triangulates the findings of multiple research instruments, including survey, interviews, case study, and direct observation. The research findings show a significant variance between the respondents’ perception of digital transformations maturity levels, and the core requirements of digital transformation maturity. The findings also show the lack of holistic vision, digital transformation competency, and data structure and processing as the leading challenges of digital transformation

    Anisotropic Scaling in Layered Aperiodic Ising Systems

    The influence of a layered aperiodic modulation of the couplings on the critical behaviour of the two-dimensional Ising model is studied in the case of marginal perturbations. The aperiodicity is found to induce anisotropic scaling. The anisotropy exponent z, given by the sum of the surface magnetization scaling dimensions, depends continuously on the modulation amplitude.     YesThe importance of maintenance has escalated significantly by the increasing of automation in manufacturing process. This condition switches traditional maintenance perspective of inevitable cost into the business competitive driver. Consequently, maintenance strategy and operation decision needs to be synchronized to business and manufacturing concerns. This paper shows the development of conceptual design of Knowledge Based System for Integrated Maintenance Strategy and Operation (KBIMSO). The framework of KBIMSO is elaborated to show the process of how the KBIMSO works to reach the maintenance decision. By considering the multi-criteria of maintenance decision making, the KB system embedded with GAP and AHP to support integrated maintenance strategy and operation which is novel in this area. The KBIMSO is useful to review the existing maintenance system and give reasonable recommendation of maintenance decisions in respect to business and manufacturing perspective

    Critical behavior at the interface between two systems belonging to different universality classes

    We consider the critical behavior at an interface which separates two semi-infinite subsystems belonging to different universality classes, thus having different set of critical exponents, but having a common transition temperature. We solve this problem analytically in the frame of mean-field theory, which is then generalized using phenomenological scaling considerations. A large variety of interface critical behavior is obtained which is checked numerically on the example of two-dimensional q-state Potts models with q=2 to 4. Weak interface couplings are generally irrelevant, resulting in the same critical behavior at the interface as for a free surface. With strong interface couplings, the interface remains ordered at the bulk transition temperature. More interesting is the intermediate situation, the special interface transition, when the critical behavior at the interface involves new critical exponents, which however can be expressed in terms of the bulk and surface exponents of the two subsystems.     Crossover between aperiodic and homogeneous semi-infinite critical behaviors in multilayered two-dimensional Ising models

    We investigate the surface critical behavior of two-dimensional multilayered aperiodic Ising models in the extreme anisotropic limit. The system under consideration is obtained by piling up two types of layers with respectively pp and qq spin rows coupled via nearest neighbor interactions λr\lambda r and λ\lambda, where the succession of layers follows an aperiodic sequence. Far away from the critical regime, the correlation length Ο⊄\xi_\perp is smaller than the first layer width and the system exhibits the usual behavior of an ordinary surface transition. In the other limit, in the neighborhood of the critical point, Ο⊄\xi_\perp diverges and the fluctuations are sensitive to the non-periodic structure of the system so that the critical behavior is governed by a new fixed point. We determine the critical exponent associated to the surface magnetization at the aperiodic critical point and show that the expected crossover between the two regimes is well described by a scaling function. From numerical calculations, the parallel correlation length Ο∄\xi_\parallel is then found to behave with an anisotropy exponent zz which depends on the aperiodic modulation and the layer widths.Comment: LaTeX file, 9 pages, 8 eps figures, to appear in Phys.     The integrated academic information system support for education 3.0 in higher education institution: lecturer perspective

    Education 3.0 has been implemented in many higher education institutions (HEIs). Education 3.0 has been directed the institution toward better educational experience. But on the other hands, the implementation of Education 3.0 also caused some problems. Previous research has found administrative problem experienced by the lecturer. This research explores deeper from the lecturer and suggested the solution from lecturer perspective, combined with information technology capabilities owned by the HEIs. The research used a case study as the method and conducted a qualitative research with a semi-structured interview. The interview analysis has found that the increase of the administrative processes is caused by online and offline administrative activities. The online activities are from e-learning and the offline activities are from traditional learning (face-to-face). The administrative processes also involved the academic information system (AIS). Simplified all of the administrative processes are more preferred. To overcome the problems, integrating the AIS and e-learning become necessary. This research suggests transforming the existing AIS into an integrated AIS and hopes the solution can simplify the administration process

    Critical behaviour of annihilating random walk of two species with exclusion in one dimension

    The A+A→0A+A\to 0, B+B→0B+B\to 0 process with exclusion between the different kinds is investigated here numerically. Before treating this model explicitly, we study the generalized Domany-Kinzel cellular automaton model of Hinrichsen on the line of the parameter space where only compact clusters can grow. The simplest version is treated with two absorbing phases in addition to the active one. The two kinds of kinks which arise in this case do not react, leading to kinetics differing from standard annihilating random walk of two species. Time dependent simulations are presented here to illustrate the differences caused by exclusion in the scaling properties of usually discussed characteristic quantities. The dependence on the density and composition of the initial state is most apparent. Making use of the parallelism between this process and directed percolation limited by a reflecting parabolic surface we argue that the two kinds of kinks exert marginal perturbation on each other leading to deviations from standard annihilating random walk behavior.Comment: 12 pages, 16 figures, small typos corrected, 2 references adde

    Much has been made of the advances in computer aided learning activities. Websites, virtual campus, the increased use of Web CT and chat rooms and further advances in the use of WebCT are becoming more commonplace in UK universities. This paper looks for ways of changing higher education students’ perception of the usefulness of recommended internet web sites for learning purposes, with the intention of increasing the usage rate of recommended module web-sites. The change could represent an adaptation of the existing, well-known technology to change students’ perception regarding its potentially formative role. Subsequently, the outcomes from this preliminary research could be used in order to enhance the quality of the Internet use for teaching and learning purposes
