Survey on Techniques for Ontology Interoperability in Semantic Web

Ontology is a shared conceptualization of knowledge representation of particular domain. These are used for the enhancement of semantic information explicitly. It is considered as a key element in semantic web development. Creation of global web data sources is impossible because of the dynamic nature of the web. Ontology Interoperability provides the reusability of ontologies. Different domain experts and ontology engineers create different ontologies for the same or similar domain depending on their data modeling requirements. These cause ontology heterogeneity and inconsistency problems. For more better and precise results ontology mapping is the solution. As their use has increased, providing means of resolving semantic differences has also become very important. Papers on ontology interoperability report the results on different frameworks and this makes their comparison almost impossible. Therefore, the main focus of this paper will be on providing some basics of ontology interoperability and briefly introducing its different approaches. In this paper we survey the approaches that have been proposed for providing interoperability among domain ontologies and its related techniques and tools

Central limit theorem for exponentially quasi-local statistics of spin models on Cayley graphs

Central limit theorems for linear statistics of lattice random fields (including spin models) are usually proven under suitable mixing conditions or quasi-associativity. Many interesting examples of spin models do not satisfy mixing conditions, and on the other hand, it does not seem easy to show central limit theorem for local statistics via quasi-associativity. In this work, we prove general central limit theorems for local statistics and exponentially quasi-local statistics of spin models on discrete Cayley graphs with polynomial growth. Further, we supplement these results by proving similar central limit theorems for random fields on discrete Cayley graphs and taking values in a countable space but under the stronger assumptions of {\alpha}-mixing (for local statistics) and exponential {\alpha}-mixing (for exponentially quasi-local statistics). All our central limit theorems assume a suitable variance lower bound like many others in the literature. We illustrate our general central limit theorem with specific examples of lattice spin models and statistics arising in computational topology, statistical physics and random networks. Examples of clustering spin models include quasi-associated spin models with fast decaying covariances like the off-critical Ising model, level sets of Gaussian random fields with fast decaying covariances like the massive Gaussian free field and determinantal point processes with fast decaying kernels. Examples of local statistics include intrinsic volumes, face counts, component counts of random cubical complexes while exponentially quasi-local statistics include nearest neighbour distances in spin models and Betti numbers of sub-critical random cubical complexes.Comment: Minor changes incorporated based on suggestions by referee

Semiotika Atribut sebagai Pesan Komunikasi: Studi Kasus Atribut Ibu Anggota DPR RI

Research aims to know denotative and connotative meaning of the attributes used by female members of House of Representatives as an integrated signifier and signified in their appeance. In terms of the research context “performance” was “sign” itself, by seeking the new structure existing in the attribute of their appearance. Attribute denotative meaning is the overall objects seemed. Connotative meaning is the meaning existing fits to the context of local culture, within it loads particular human being expression individually. The method used in the study is inductive-posteriori-explorative-qualitative, with a case study using semiotic analysis of communication led to internalization of the researcher towards the phenomenon of attributes used by the female members of the House of Representatives. The choice and use of attributes in each appearance can be used to give impressions used an anchor by the researcher to provide further interpretation of the attributes worn. This study took the paradigm theory of Ferdinand de Saussure and Charles Sanders Peirce to see through its problems in the field. The result is Saussure\u27s view is able to reconstruct all objects visible to the researcher. Similarly, Peirce\u27s view has three major characteristics that are capable of being a mirror to see the reality in the field. The results showed an attempt to reconstruct the understanding of semiotics and attributes as a form of nonverbal communication message. The study concludes the denotative meaning of attributes can provide communication and connotative message over the attributes used by female members of the Parliament

Nepal Himalaya: Women, Politics, and Administration

The paper is a qualitative analysis of the status of women and women in politics and administration in Nepal Himalaya. The paper reviews data on women in civil service and in administrative levels. Looking at women in Nepali politics, policy on women, and women in administration, the paper highlights some social and cultural issues that have “othered” women as the “second sex.” As the country is heading towards modernity, gender friendly approaches are being instituted. Although some data reflects the progress of women’s status and their increasing political and administrative participation, the data is insufficient to predict if there is democratic gender practices in political and administrative levels. The political and administrative culture of Nepal Himalaya can be changed only by promoting gender practices and by deconstructing gender images in administrative culture. This is possible through a representative bureaucracy and an enforcement of democratic policies. The paper will discuss the social constructionist view of policy, gender, and culture and how the deconstruction of gender images help women better their administrative positions
