Fitting Voronoi Diagrams to Planar Tesselations
Given a tesselation of the plane, defined by a planar straight-line graph
, we want to find a minimal set of points in the plane, such that the
Voronoi diagram associated with "fits" \ . This is the Generalized
Inverse Voronoi Problem (GIVP), defined in \cite{Trin07} and rediscovered
recently in \cite{Baner12}. Here we give an algorithm that solves this problem
with a number of points that is linear in the size of , assuming that the
smallest angle in is constant.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures, 1 table. Presented at IWOCA 2013 (Int. Workshop

Primary liver cancer is more aggressive in HIV-HCV coinfection than in HCV infection. A prospective study (ANRS CO13 Hepavih and CO12 Cirvir)
OBJECTIVE: Since HAART, primary liver cancer has emerged as an increasing cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with HIV infection. Our aim was to compare characteristics and outcome of primary liver cancer according to HIV status in HCV cirrhotic patients submitted to periodic ultrasonographic surveillance.
METHODS: All patients with primary liver cancer and cirrhosis were selected from two prospective cohorts (ANRS CO12 Cirvir, viral cirrhosis, n=1081; ANRS CO13 Hepavih, HIV-HCV coinfection, n=1175). Cirrhosis was diagnosed by liver biopsy in monoHCV group and biopsy and/or non-invasive tests in HIV-HCV group. Ultrasonographic surveillance was performed every 6 months. Diagnosis of primary liver cancer was established according to EASL-AASLD guidelines.
RESULTS: Primary liver cancer was diagnosed in 32 patients, 16 in each group, and corresponded to hepatocellular carcinoma in all except for two cholangiocarcinomas in HIV-HCV patients. Ultrasonographic follow-up was similar (median time since last ultrasonographic without focal lesion: 237 days in HIV-HCV group (n=12) versus 208 days in HCV group, NS). At primary liver cancer diagnosis HIV-HCV patients were markedly younger (48 vs. 60 yrs, P<0.001), primary liver cancer was more advanced in HIV-HCV patients (single nodule: 43% vs. 75%, P=0.07; mean diameter of main nodule: 24 vs. 16 mm, P=0.006; portal obstruction: 3 vs. 0). Curative treatment was performed in four HIV-HCV patients versus 11 HCV patients (P=0.017). During follow-up, 10 HIV-HCV patients died versus only one HCV patient (P=0.0005).
CONCLUSIONS: This result suggests more aggressiveness for tumors in HIV infected patients and, if confirmed, could result in shortening the length between ultrasonographic examinations

Teaching networking, hands-on labs
This project has been focused on the design and implementation of a hands-on laboratory, where students would be able understand and learn the different network protocols operations. Once dealt with the installation, we have done some tests focused on Wide Area Network emulation and, as a further step, the results have been analyzed and discussed.
In order to complete said tests, we have implemented some network traffic analysis tools, such as Traceroute, Ping or Wireshark. The latter in particular, due to its ease to capture, show and filter traffic from many different network protocols.
First of all, the theoretical basic concepts, essential to understand network protocols operation, have been properly described.
Then, once explained the theoretical fundamentals, the entire laboratory installation has been developed; starting with the hardware components assembly and then following with the software part installation. This second section also includes the setup of each service or protocol needed for the proper network operation.
Finally, in the last main section, tests performed in the laboratory have been detailed, once fully configured the network. These tests have been focused on Wide Area Network emulation through the WANem software tool, through which we have introduced some delays and packet loss into our network. At the same time, with the above mentioned network tools (Traceroute, Ping or Wireshark) we have tested protocols’ behaviour when experiencing these delays or packet loss.

Hepatocellular carcinoma: Which major advances in these last years?
The metabolic syndrome seems the main risk factor in 20% of the cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Genomic signatures in the tumor or in the surrounding liver are predictive factors of recurrence. Sorafenib prolongs survival in patients with advanced HCC. New molecules, new indications of sorafenib and predictive criteria of efficiency are under evaluation. Due to lack of an optimal surveillance of patients with cirrhosis, only 30% HCC are currently diagnosed at an early stage. Radiofrequency can be considered as a first intention curative treatment. The results of hepatic resection recently improved in terms of recurrence and of survival. An extension of the selection criteria for transplantation was proposed. A small proportion of patients with HCC currently benefits from this curative treatment. The strategy of a first curative treatment followed by transplantation in case of recurrence is not associated with a loss of chances for the patients. High-dose focused radiotherapy and radioembolization gave promising results in preliminary studies
Eighth Major Clade for Hepatitis Delta Virus
Hepatitis delta virus is the only representative of the Deltavirus genus, which consists of 7 differentiated major clades. In this study, an eighth clade was identified from 3 distinct strains. Deltavirus genetic variability should be considered for diagnostic purposes. Clinical consequences of the diversity have yet to be evaluated
