    Combining Visual Media and Talk it Application in Reading Activity

    In many universities, the success of students' acquisition is now measured in term of their ability to communicate in the foreign language rather than on examining their accuracy in using certain grammatical features. Therefore, apart from experimenting new teaching methods, more and more universities have been applying modern technology to support language skills teaching. Although multimedia have enthusiastically been praised by many experts and academicians, the contribution of multimedia in supporting language learning is not obvious due to the limitations and restrictions of learning styles, teaching approaches, and computer skills . Therefore, this paper explores the application of visual media (picture) and verbal media (Talk It) in assisting teaching especially reading. The study shows that the students were enthusiastic in doing reading activity. They can think faster and smarter in limited time. Therefore, the teacher should provide an innovative strategy in teaching reading to make the class more alive.&nbsp

    The Use of Circle Games as A Strategy to Improve The Student’s Mastery in English Vocabulary

    This research is conducted to analyze circle games as a strategy to improve the student’s mastery in English vocabulary as six B grade of SSC TUBAN. It is conducted to find out whether the students of six B grade of SSC TUBAN will have a good changing in their learning or even become worse after getting the treatments and to know how the students’ responses toward circle games as a teaching strategy. In conducting this research, the researcher used classroom action research as the design of the research. Then, the subject of this research is the student of six B grade of SSC TUBAN. As the instruments of the research, the researcher used they are pictures, field notes, test, and questionnaire. Then, the researcher analyze the result of the study by comparing the students’ score of pre-test and post-test. The result of the data analysis shows that the average score in the pre-test is 68% and post-test is 85%. It shows us that the score average in the post-test is higher than the score average in the pre-test. It can be concluded that the students have a progress in learning foreign language by using circle games. The result of the students’ responses toward circle games showed that most of the students responded positively to the game used as a strategy to teach them.     A Comparative Literature Study : The Indonesian Folklore of Ande-Ande Lumut and The French Folktale of Cinderella

    Penelitian ini membahas tentang sastra bandingan cerita rakyat dan cerita rakyat yang memiliki persamaan dengan konflik yang berbeda. Penelitian ini berfokus pada cerita rakyat Ande-Ande Lumut dari Indonesia dan Cinderella dari Perancis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (i) unsur intrinsik kedua cerita tersebut dan (ii) unsur budaya kedua cerita tersebut. Penelitian inAdd Contributori menggunakan metode deskriptif komparatif. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi, membaca dan menulis laporan penelitian. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis isi dengan membandingkan kedua cerita sebagai data. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kedua cerita ini menarik untuk diperbandingkan karena memang memiliki beberapa kesamaan namun berbeda jalan cerita dan konflik. Kedua karya sastra tersebut juga memiliki unsur budaya yang kuat yaitu agama, mata pencaharian, sistem teknologi dan organisasi sosial.     Blended Learning Using Autoplay Media Studio 8 Program And Edmodo In Teaching Pronunciation Practice

    The purposes of this research is to describe the teaching process with blended learning, teaching media used, and the assessment of teaching done in the classroom and online class. The methodology of this study is qualitative descriptive study. The instruments of the research are: first, observation in class; second, questionnaire to know the students‘ response about Autoplay media studio 8 program as teaching media. The questionnaire consist of 15 items statements; and third, interview to find out the students‘ opinion about Blended Learning. The data analysis shows that Blended Learning is a method that is effective, interesting, and easy to use. The result of the analysis from the questionnaire and the interview showed that students assume Blended Learning could be applied as a method for Pronunciation Practice class. These finding indicate Blended Learning applied in Pronunciation Practice class helps students to maximize learning time as well as replace time students who can not attend in class

    Cerita rakyat yang dimiliki suaty negara juga dapat ditemukan di negara lain dengan tema atau motif yang sama. Karena banyaknya cerita rakyat di seluruh dunia, ternyata cerita rakyat dari Indonesia memiliki banyak kemiripan dengan cerita rakyat dari China, salah satunya adalah cerita rakyat Jaka Tarub. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis sastra bandingan terhadap dua legenda tersebut, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan sastra structural dan komparatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (i) menemukan persamaan dan perbedaan struktur dan (ii) unsur cerita dari jedua cerita rakyat tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi, membaca, dan menulis laporan penelitian. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan lebih menekankan pada teknik analisis isi dengan membandingkan kedua cerita sebagai data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya persamaan dan perbedaan struktur cerita dan unsur budaya. Namun baik cerita rakyat Jaka Tarub maupun Niu Lang and Zhi Nu tidak saling mempengaruhi karena mereka merepresentasikan ciri khas masing-masing yang merupakan gambaran dari masyarakat tempat mereka berasal

    Lexical and Grammatical Problems Coped with Communication Strategies

    Based on preliminary observation most students feel hesitate to continue English conversation when they lacked of vocabularies and structured grammatical sentences. The students prefer to stop speaking. Therefore they need strategies to keep the communication on. Dealing with the problems, the present study investigates the lexical and grammatical communication problems that can be managed by communication strategies. An observation was done to 60 students in different levels of proficiency. it was revealed that there was a significant difference in the frequency and percentage of learners’ solved lexical problems (72.2 %) and grammatical problems (27.8%). The results drawn from these items were that EFL students used communication strategies on lexical problems are more frequent than used communication strategies on grammatical problems. This strategy is one small step towards clarifying the balanced of using communication strategy on lexical and grammatical problems in communication

    Bisnis dengan modal kecil dan hanya berbekal keahlian sangat cocok untuk ibu rumah tangga. Salahsatu yang sedang popular saat ini adalah merajut. Kegiatan merajut tidak terbatas tempat dan waktu. Selainitu merajut dipilih karena nilai jualnya yang tinggi dan untuk saat ini merupakan produk yang sangatdigemari di semua kalangan wanita. Menurut pelaku bisnis ini, produk dompet, tas dan sepatu sangat digemari dan nilai jualnya bisa mencapai ratusan ribu. Keahlian merajut saja dianggap tidak cukup. Masalahutama bisnis rumah tangga adalah dari segi pemasaran. Untuk itu di era serba online dimana sangat umum ditemukan produk rajutan di tawarkan. Namun demikian masih banyak yang menggunakan media sosial sepertifacebook, instagram dan messanger hanya untuk hiburan semata. Jika di manfaatkan secara maksimal mediaini berpotensi besar mendongkrak penjualan. Untuk itu ibu rumahtangga perlu di latih cara sederhanamelakukan pemasaran online sehingga mereka bisa menarik lebih banyak pembeli dari daerah lain. Dengandemikian diperlukan pengetahuan tentang bahasa Inggris dalam pemasaran online dan merajut dasar. Tujuandalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses peningkatan pengetahuan sekaligus ketrampilanmasyarakat desa Semanding melalui pelatihan dan bagaimana tanggapan mereka dengan adanya pelatihanini. Peserta pelatihan ini adalah 30 orang anggota PKK desa Semanding yang tersebar di beberapa RT.Metode yang di gunakan adalah presentasi, diskusi dan demonstrasi. Presentasi dan diskusi di lakukan untukmenyampaikan informasi dan menambah pengetahuan warga. Sementara demonstrasi diperlukan untukmenambah ketrampilan warga dengan contoh praktek langsung oleh instruktur. Hasil dari penelitian adalahsangat baik. Ini terlihat dari hasil perencanaan pembuatan merajut memperoleh persentase 89% dalamkategori sangat baik, tahap proses pembuatan produk rajutan mencapai 84% dalam kategori baik, dan padatahap hasil memperoleh persentase 83%. Tanggapan peserta terhadap pelatihan menunjukkan prosentasijawaban berkisar antara 89% hingga 100% memberi tanggapan positif dimana para peserta sangat antusiasmengikuti kegiatan, demikian juga pihak mitra terutama kepala desa yang mendukung penuh kegiatan in

    Project Based Approach Focusing on Students Speaking Skill Using Digital Storytelling

    This paper describes the digital storytelling task applied in speaking class of second year students of English Study Program, including advantages students achieve from storytelling and technology integration as well as suggestions for classroom implementation. The necessity for students to use effective written communication and to be technologically literate remains strong. Meanwhile, English teachers charged with developing these skills are searching for ways to engage students in the writing process and integrate technology into daily learning activities. Digital storytelling aligns with both of these objectives. This strategy invites students into the writing process on a personal level and integrates several technologies into the final project. With careful planning and preparation, digital storytelling present students with a deeply meaningful learning experience. Many students readers and writers, will be highly motivated by the personal nature of storytelling and the integration of technology. An interactive technology can keep the students engaged into the material. As they build their stories, students will be reading for depth and understanding, and gaining proficiency with the vocabulary, structure and pronunciation of language. Finally, students will gain greater competence with technology as they refine their problem-solving skills. Sharing personal stories and engaging in this variety of thinking skills will prove to be a rewarding experience for both teachers and students.     THE USE OF CODE SWITCHING AND CODE MIXING IN EXTENSIVE READING CLASS AT UNIVERSITAS PGRI RONGGOLAWE TUBAN

    This study aims to determine the type of code switching and the type of code mixing used at extensive reading class at Universitas PGRI Ronggolawe Tuban. The study applied qualitative research design. The aims of this study was to analyse the types and the most used code switching and code mixing. Participants in this study were lecturer and students at extensive reading class in Universitas PGRI Ronggolawe Tuban. The class contains 21 students from the 2018 class and 1 teaching lecturer. Data collection in this study was carried out by a voice recorder on a smart phone. From these data, the types and the most used of code switching and code mixing might be identified. Furthermore, there are several types of code switching namely intersentential code switching, intrasentential code switching, and tag switching. The next are the types of code mixing namely alternation, insertion, and congruent lexicalization. The results is two types of code switching that are found in the Extensive reading class are inter sentential switching and intra sentential switching. One type of code mixing that is found in the Extensive reading class is alternation. And the most used is code switching type inter sentential switching

    Pendidikan karakter adalah proses pembentukan sikap, nilai, dan perilaku yang positif pada individu, dan pendidikan budaya merupakan salah satu aspek yang kuat dalam membentuk karakter anak. Dalam pendidikan budaya di sanggar, anak-anak diajarkan tentang nilai-nilai luhur budaya lokal, seperti kejujuran, kerja sama, kreativitas, disiplin, dan penghargaan terhadap sesama. Melalui pengajaran musik karawitan, anak-anak belajar untuk menghormati warisan budaya mereka dan memperkuat identitas mereka. Mereka juga dilibatkan dalam kegiatan sosial dan komunitas yang memperkaya pengalaman mereka dalam memahami keragaman budaya. Pendidikan budaya di Sanggar Karawitan Gentha Buana Laras juga memberikan kesempatan bagi anak-anak untuk mengembangkan keterampilan non-akademik, seperti kemampuan berkomunikasi, beradaptasi dengan perubahan, menghargai perbedaan, dan mengelola emosi. Selain itu, melalui kolaborasi dengan orangtua dan komunitas, sanggar memberikan dukungan yang kuat dalam membangun kesadaran sosial dan kepedulian anak-anak terhadap lingkungan sekitar. Dengan demikian, pendidikan budaya di Sanggar Karawitan Gentha Buana Laras memiliki peran yang penting dalam meningkatkan pendidikan karakter anak-anak. Sanggar ini memberikan lingkungan yang positif dan mendukung, di mana anak-anak dapat belajar dan tumbuh dalam hal kejujuran, kerja sama, kreativitas, disiplin, dan penghargaan terhadap budaya lokal mereka. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat  ini,  dapat meningkatkan pemahaman untuk  bersikap baik pada sesama , taat pada guru dan patuh pada orangtua dan juga akan memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan program pendidikan karakter yang lebih luas di masyarakat dan memperkuat peran pendidikan budaya sebagai pendukung utama dalam membentuk karakter anak.   Kata Kunci: pendidikan budaya; pendidikan karakter; karakter anak; sanggar karawita
