Experimental characterization of a broadband transmission-line cloak in free space

The cloaking efficiency of a finite-size cylindrical transmission-line cloak operating in the X-band is verified with bistatic free space measurements. The cloak is designed and optimized with numerical full-wave simulations. The reduction of the total scattering width of a metal object, enabled by the cloak, is clearly observed from the bistatic free space measurements. The numerical and experimental results are compared resulting in good agreement with each other.Comment: 5 pages, 7 figure

The obtained spiro pseudothiohydantoin derivatives were found to undergo a pseudothiohydantoin–thiohydantoin rearrangement. The reactions were shown to proceed under catalyst-free conditions in good yields, and the products were isolated without applying preparative chromatography methods

Bistatic scattering characterization of a three-dimensional broadband cloaking structure

Here we present the results of full experimental characterization of broadband cloaking of a finite-sized metallic cylinder at X-band. The cloaking effect is characterized by measuring the bistatic scattering patterns of uncloaked and cloaked objects in free space and then comparing these with each other. The results of the measurements demonstrate a broadband cloaking effect and are in good agreement with numerical predictions.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures; v2: some typos corrected (legends and caption of Fig. 3), section headings adde

Background. In the modern historical period, taking into account the current military-political situation, the actualization of the idea of patriotism as a comprehensive element of spiritual integrity of people is a condition for the preservation of Russia as an independent and unified state. The analysis of Russian and foreign scientific literature as well as of regulatory legal documents has shown the absence of a unified approach to the essence and content of the value orientation “patriotism”. There was also no tool for assessing the level of value orientation “patriotism” found. Objective. The article focuses on the development of a theoretical model of the value orientation “patriotism” and a methodology for assessing the level of its formation. Sample. 1600 citizens of the Russian Federation took part in the empirical study. Methods. The study was conducted with an expert survey, focus groups and a sociological survey. Results. The ANOVA by Kraskel — Wallis showed the validity of the developed methodology for assessing the value orientation of “patriotism” and the absence of statistically significant differences when using it on different sample populations. Conclusion. The article reveals the essence and content of the value orientation “patriotism”, develops and substantiates its theoretical model, which includes 8 components, as well as means of formation and levels of manifestation. In addition, the study developed and successfully tested a methodology for assessing the level of development of the value orientation “patriotism”

The structure revealed alternating layers of the cations and anions with the Mes ligands perpendicular, and the anions tilted by 45°, to the layer plane. At 300 K the effective magnetic moment of 2 is equal to 2.40 μB (theoretically expected 2.45 μB) and monotonically decreases with lowering of the temperature. In the temperature range 2−300 K, the molar magnetic susceptibility of 2 is well-described by the Curie-Weiss law with parameters C and θ equal to 0.78 cm3⋅K⋅mol–1 and −31.2 K, respectively. Overall, the magnetic behavior of 2 is similar to that of [CrTol2]+[1]– and [CrCp*2]+[1]–, i.e. changing the cation [MAr2]+ 3d atom M = Cr (Z = 24) with weak spin-orbit coupling (SOC) to a 4d atom M = Mo (Z = 42) with stronger SOC does not affect macroscopic magnetic properties of the salts. For the XRD structure of salt 2, parameters of the Heisenberg spin-Hamiltonian were calculated using the broken-symmetry DFT and CASSCF approaches, and the complex 3D magnetic structure with both the ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AF) exchange interactions was revealed with the latter as dominating. Salt 2 is thermally unstable and slowly loses the Mes ligands upon storage at ambient temperature. Under the same reaction conditions, interaction of 1 with MoTol2 (Tol = toluene) proceeded with partial loss of the Tol ligands to afford diamagnetic product.PostprintPostprintPeer reviewe
