Diurnal Dust Devil Behaviour for the Viking 1 Landing Site: Sols 1 to 30
Previous martian studies have provided an understanding of diurnal dust devil behaviour for Viking 2 and the Mars Pathfinder landing sites. It is the purpose of this work to complete this analysis by analysing the meteorological data from the Viking 1 landing site

Viking Lander 1 and 2 revisited: The characterisation and detection of Martian dust devils
Dust devil data from Mars is limited by a lack of data relating to diurnal dust devil behaviour. The meteorological data from the Viking landers has been revisited to provide these diurnal statistics
Tourism and Cultural Exchange: An Historical Perspective
The paper examines aspects of cultural exchange between Britain and Europe (particularly France, Italy and Greece) from the 16th to the 19th century. This relationship was partly associated with British tourists. The nature of the cultural exchange reveals the changing attitudes of the tourists and their images of the host countries; from admiration of contemporary cultures to a feeling of superiority; from veneration of past cultural achievements to sentimental views of existing societies. Themes also include the social networks between hosts and guests and cultural transfer from Britain to Europe aided by tourism. These considerations lead to wide political and economic relationships and thus the role of tourism in promoting understanding between Britain and parts of Europe. A perspective is provided on tourism\u27s contribution in these areas today

Development of software for analysing entry accelerometer data in preparation for the Beagle 2 mission to Mars: towards a publicly available toolkit
We have tested techniques for turning Beagle 2’s entry accelerometer data into a T(z) profile. We reproduced the PDS results for Pathfinder. The PDS trajectory for Pathfinder appears inconsistent with its entry state. Our code is available online

Martian Dust Devil Detection with the Beagle 2 Wind Sensor
Beagle 2 is a Mars lander expected to land on December 26th 2003. The Beagle 2 wind sensor utilizes an ultrasonic technique, which is unique to planetary landers, and with other sensors will identify, and characterise dust devils
The \u27Virtues\u27 of Round Robin Reading
The goal of education is preparation for life. The goal of literacy training is preparation for education, not just formal education but life-long education, education in the broad sense. School practices which contribute to this process of education for life should be widely accepted, even applauded. But they aren\u27t, or at least, not all of them are
The S.S. Reading: Does it Float?
Increasing numbers of both elementary and secondary teachers have implemented Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) as a part of their program in reading instruction. Much of this implementation has occurred and will continue primarily on the recommendation of its proponents. There has been no serious examination of the assumptions by these proponents of its effectiveness in bringing about the benefits claimed for it. The tremendous importance attached to learning to read and the limited time available in which to provide instructional activities toward that end should lead us to a rigorous evaluation of SSR whenever and wherever it becomes a component of the reading program

Quantitive analysis of gully long profiles on Earth and Mars
We investigated the scale, slope and curvature properties of gully long profiles on Earth and Mars to ascertain whether gullies on Mars are formed by alluvial and/or debris flow processes. During this investigation we also compared generic slope profiles on Mars to those with gullies
