Higgs mediated Double Flavor Violating top decays in Effective Theories

The possibility of detecting double flavor violating top quark transitions at future colliders is explored in a model-independent manner using the effective Lagrangian approach through the t→uiτμt \to u_i\tau \mu (ui=u,cu_i=u,c) decays. A Yukawa sector that contemplates SUL(2)×UY(1)SU_L(2)\times U_Y(1) invariants of up to dimension six is proposed and used to derive the most general flavor violating and CP violating qiqjHq_iq_jH and liljHl_il_jH vertices of renormalizable type. Low-energy data, on high precision measurements, and experimental limits are used to constraint the tuiHtu_iH and HτμH\tau \mu vertices and then used to predict the branching ratios for the t→uiτμt \to u_i\tau \mu decays. It is found that this branching ratios may be of the order of 10−4−10−5 10^{-4}-10^{-5}, for a relative light Higgs boson with mass lower than 2mW2m_W, which could be more important than those typical values found in theories beyond the standard model for the rare top quark decays t→uiViVjt\to u_iV_iV_j (Vi=W,Z,γ,gV_i=W,Z,\gamma, g) or t→uil+l−t\to u_il^+l^-. %% LHC experiments, by using a total integrated luminosity of 3000fb−1\rm 3000 fb^{-1} of data, will be able to rule out, at 95% C.L., DFV top quark decays up to a Higgs mass of 155 GeV/c2c^2 or discover such a process up to a Higgs mass of 147 GeV/c2c^2.Comment: 24 pages, 11 figure

Production of doubly charged vector bilepton pairs at γγ\gamma \gamma colliders

The production of pairs of doubly charged vector bileptons is studied at future γγ\gamma \gamma colliders. The unpolarized cross--section for the γγ→Y−−Y++\gamma \gamma \to Y^{--}Y^{++} subprocess is analytically calculated and convoluted to predict the number of events in the complete e+e−→γγ→Y−−Y++e^+e^-\to \gamma \gamma \to Y^{--}Y^{++} process. The gauge or non--gauge character of the vector bilepton Y±±Y^{\pm \pm} is discussed. It is found that as a consequence of its spectacular signature, as it decays dominantly into two identical charged leptons, and also due to its charge contents, which significantly enhance the cross--section, the detection of this class of particles with mass in the sub--TeV region can be at the reach of these colliders. The model--independent nature of our results is stressed.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, submitted to physical review

Noncommutative 6D Gauge Higgs Unification Models

The influence of higher dimensions in noncommutative field theories is considered. For this purpose, we analyze the bosonic sector of a recently proposed 6 dimensional SU(3) orbifold model for the electroweak interactions. The corresponding noncommutative theory is constructed by means of the Seiberg-Witten map in 6D. We find in the reduced bosonic interactions in 4D theory, couplings which are new with respect to other known 4D noncommutative formulations of the Standard Model using the Seiberg-Witten map. Phenomenological implications due to the noncommutativity of extra dimensions are explored. In particular, assuming that the commutative model leads to the standard model values, a bound -5.63 10^{-8} GeV^{-2}< theta <1.06 10^{-7}GeV^{-2} on the corresponding noncommutativity scale is derived from current experimental constraints on the S and T oblique parameters. This bound is used to predict a possibly significant impact of noncommutativity effects of extra dimensions on the rare Higgs boson decay H-> gamma gamma.Comment: Latex file, 11 pages, 1 figur

Bilepton effects on the WWV^* vertex in the 331 model with right-handed neutrinos via a SU_L(2)XU_Y(1) covariant quantization scheme

In a recent paper, we investigated the effects of the massive charged gauge bosons (bileptons) predicted by the minimal 331 model on the off-shell vertex WWV^* (V=gamma, Z) using a SU_L(2) X U_Y(1) covariant gauge-fixing term for the bileptons. We proceed along the same lines and calculate the effects of the gauge bosons predicted by the 331 model with right-handed neutrinos. It is found that the bilepton effects on the WWV^* vertex are of the same order of magnitude than those arising from the SM and several of its extensions, provided that the bilepton mass is of the order of a few hundred of GeVs. For heavier bileptons, their effects on the WWV^* vertex are negligible. The behavior of the form factors at high energies is also discussed as it is a reflect of the gauge invariance and gauge independence of the WWV^* Green function obtained via our quantization method.Comment: Replaced to match published versio

Controlling parenting and executive functioning in children born preterm

    Get PDF
This study investigated the relations between mothers’ and fathers’ controlling behaviors and the executive functioning of children born preterm. Sixty-eight preterm children and their parents were assessed when the children were 3 ½ years old. The executive functioning was measured using the Headto-Toes-Task and controlling parenting behaviors were measured through a standardized observation of a parent-child interaction. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that both mothers’ and fathers’ controlling behaviors were associated with worse child executive functioning performance, after controlling for the child’s cognitive ability. Findings suggest that both mothers and fathers play an important role in the development of executive functioning of children born prematurely, highlighting the need to consider both parents in the study of and intervention with these children.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Static quantities of a neutral bilepton in the 331 model with right-handed neutrinos

A neutral vector boson can possess static electromagnetic properties provided that the associated field is no self-conjugate. This possibility is explored in the SUC(3)XSUL(3)XUN(1)SU_C(3) X SU_L(3) X U_N(1) model with right-handed neutrinos, which predicts a complex neutral gauge boson Y0Y^0 in a nontrivial representation of the electroweak group. In this model the only nonvanishing form factors are the CP-even ones, which arise from both the quark and gauge sectors, and contribute to the magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole moments of this neutral particle.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Phys.
