Parametric statistics of zeros of Husimi representations of quantum chaotic eigenstates and random polynomials

Local parametric statistics of zeros of Husimi representations of quantum eigenstates are introduced. It is conjectured that for a classically fully chaotic systems one should use the model of parametric statistics of complex roots of Gaussian random polynomials which is exactly solvable as demonstrated below. For example, the velocities (derivatives of zeros of Husimi function with respect to an external parameter) are predicted to obey a universal (non-Maxwellian) distribution ${d P(v)}/{dv^2} = 2/(\pi\sigma^2)(1 + |v|^2/\sigma^2)^{-3},$ where $\sigma^2$ is the mean square velocity. The conjecture is demonstrated numerically in a generic chaotic system with two degrees of freedom. Searching relevant polymorphisms of CYP2B6 in HIV infected patients

Egas Moniz, Caparica, Portugal, 27- 28 November 2015"The CYP2B6 belongs to the family of Cytochrome P450 enzymes that catalyze the metabolism of a wide variety of drugs, including the anti-retroviral EFV. The CYP2B6 gene, that has been mapped in the chromosome 19, is highly polymorphic and some SNP, namely 516G>T and 785A>G, are associated with decreased protein expression. These variants are related to phenotypes that are characterized as EFV poor metabolizers, and consequently to episodes of neurotoxicity.

Can quantum chaos enhance stability of quantum computation?

We consider stability of a general quantum algorithm with respect to a fixed but unknown residual interaction between qubits, and show a surprising fact, namely that the average fidelity of quantum computation increases by decreasing average time correlation function of the perturbing operator in sequences of consecutive quantum gates. Hypertriglyceridemic Pancreatitis: Conventional Treatment Versus Therapeutic Plasma Exchange

Introdução:A pancreatite aguda (PA) por hipertrigliceridemia (HTG) pode ser tratada com troca plasmática terapêutica (TPT), com redução rápida dos valores de triglicerídeos. Contudo, não existem estudos comparativos definitivos que comprovem o real benefício desta terapêutica. Objetivo: Comparação dos métodos de tratamento (troca plasmática terapêutica versus convencional) em doentes com PA HTG, durante um período de 12 anos (2000-2012). Métodos: Estudo retrospetivo descritivo e inferencial de 37 doentes, avaliando: sexo, idade, antecedentes pessoais, gravidade, valores de TG e evolução consoante o tratamento (“TPT” ou terapêutica convencional “C”). Resultados: Os dois grupos TPT e C mostraram-se homogéneos quanto ao sexo (p = 0,647), idade (43,5 ± 9,74 anos TPT versus 45,30 ± 9,90 anos C; p = 0.320), pancreatite prévia (40% TPT vs 40,7% C; p = 1,0) alcoolismo crónico (50% TPT vs 70,4% C; p = 0,275) e gravidade pelo score de APACHE II (p = 0,054) e Ranson às 48 horas (p = 0,258). Dos doentes 45,95% apresentava mais de um fator de risco secundário para HTG. O grupo TPT apresentou maiores valores de TG à admissão: 4850 ± 2802 mg/dL vs 1845 ± 1858 mg/dL (p = 0,001). Não se verificaram diferenças na duração do internamento 14,2 ± 6,8 dias vs 13,5 ± 9,0 dias (p = 0,56) ou na taxa de mortalidade (p = 0,47). À data de alta a redução dos TG foi superior no grupo TPT: 4433,70 ± 2896,08 mg/dL - 91,41% vs 1582,95 ± 2051,06 mg/dL – 83,92% (p = 0,002). De referir seis intercorrências minor durante a troca plasmática terapêutica. Discussão/Conclusões: Apesar do viés de seleção (estudo retrospetivo), foi constatada uma maior redução dos TG por esta técnica. An Optical Spectroscopic Atlas of Low-Redshift Active Galactic Nuclei

We present a spectral atlas of the Hβ region for 215 type 1 AGNs (luminous Seyfert 1/radio galaxy nuclei and low-z quasars) up to z ≈ 0.8. Line profiles and measures were derived from the database of intermediate resolution spectra (R 1000) with average continuum level S/N ratio ≈30. Parameters including rest frame equivalent width and FWHM are provided for the Fe IIopt blend at λ4570, Hβ, He II λ4686, and the [O III] λλ4959, 5007 emission lines. We extract clean broad component Hβ profiles and provide wavelength measurements at 0, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 0.9 peak intensity levels in order to permit a quantitative definition of the Hβ broad component for statistical studies. We also discuss sources of uncertainty, selection effects, and biases in our sample. The data are especially important for tests of the eigenvector 1 parameter space occupation and correlation. We show that the I Zw 1 template Fe IIopt spectrum reproduces well the observed Fe IIopt emission for a wide range of line width and strength.
