    Magnetic field induced polarization enhancement in monolayers of tungsten dichalcogenides: Effects of temperature

    Optical orientation of localized/bound excitons is shown to be effectively enhanced by the application of magnetic fields as low as 20 mT in monolayer WS2_2. At low temperatures, the evolution of the polarization degree of different emission lines of monolayer WS2_2 with increasing magnetic fields is analyzed and compared to similar results obtained on a WSe2_2 monolayer. We study the temperature dependence of this effect up to T=60T=60 K for both materials, focusing on the dynamics of the valley pseudospin relaxation. A rate equation model is used to analyze our data and from the analysis of the width of the polarization deep in magnetic field we conclude that the competition between the dark exciton pseudospin relaxation and the decay of the dark exciton population into the localized states are rather different in these two materials which are representative of the two extreme cases for the ratio of relaxation rate and depolarization rate

    Influence of interactions with non-condensed particles on the coherence of a 1D polariton condensate

    One-dimensional polariton condensates (PoCos) in a photonic wire are generated through non-resonant laser excitation, by which also a reservoir of background carriers is created. Interaction with this reservoir may affect the coherence of the PoCo, which is studied here by injecting a condensate locally and monitoring the coherence along the wire. While the incoherent reservoir is mostly present within the excitation laser spot, the condensate can propagate ballistically through the wire. Photon correlation measurements show that far from the laser spot the second order correlation function approaches unity value, as expected for the coherent condensed state. When approaching the spot, however, the correlation function increases up to values of 1.2 showing the addition of noise to the emission due to interaction with the reservoir. This finding is substantiated by measuring the first order coherence by a double slit experiment, which shows a reduced visibility of interference at the excitation laser spot.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

    Genetic immunization of ducks for production of antibodies specific to Helicobacter pylori UreB in egg yolks

    Following genetic immunization of laying ducks with a plasmid expressing Helicobacter pylori UreB (large subunit of urease), IgY against UreB were obtained from egg yolks. These polyclonal and monospecific IgY antibodies are of higher-titer and specifically recognize recombinant H. pylori urease purified from Escherichia coli. To our knowledge this is the first report describing generation of IgY antibodies directed against antigens of H. pylori by DNA-based immunization
