Developing the Silver Economy and Related Government Resources for Seniors: A Position Paper

The precarious rights of senior citizens, especially those who are highly educated and who are expected to counsel and guide the younger generations, has stimulated the creation internationally of advocacy associations and opinion leader groups. The strength of these groups, however, varies from country to country. In some countries, they are supported and are the focus of intense interest; in others, they are practically ignored. For this is reason we believe that the creation of a network of all these associations is essential. The proposed network would act as a support for the already-existing policies of the United Nations' High Commission for Human Rights, of independent experts, and of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People. All three have long ago recommended the creation of a recognized instrument for uniting presently scattered efforts. The proposed network, therefore, will seek to promote the international exchange of relevant expertise, and it will reinforce the commitments and actions that single countries are currently taking to meet these objectives. For example, informative public events can be organised to promote particular support initiatives and to provide an opportunity for new members of the network to be presented. The network will promote health for senior citizens, disease prevention, senior mobility, safe free time for seniors, alimentary education, protection against new risks and dangers, as well as equity in the services necessary for seniors to adopt new information and communication technologies. In the case of retired academic members, the network will promote equality with respect to continuing use of digital technologies (particularly email), continuing access to research libraries, and the guaranteed ability for seniors to fund their own research programs and to deliver free seminars

Dodajalne tehnologije so vse bolj razširjene zaradi svojih prednosti, saj omogočajo izdelavo kompleksnih oblik izdelkov. Postopek je v veliko primerih hitrejši od konvencionalnih postopkov obdelave izdelkov ter z njim zmanjšamo stroške odpadnega materiala. Aluminijeve zlitine so začele zaradi svojih mehanskih lastnosti vse bolj nadomeščati jeklo in ostale materiale, saj omogočajo dobro razmerje med trdnostjo in težo. Additve manufacturing technologies are becoming increasingly widespread due to their advantages, as they enable the production of complex forms of products and in many cases the process is faster than conventional processes. They also reduce the cost of material waste. Aluminum alloys are increasingy replacing steel and other materials due to their mechanical properties as they have good strenght to weight ratio. In this diploma thesis the development of additive manufacturing of aluminium alloy AlSi5 with the MIG process is presented. This thesis is a study of welding parameters, which have the greatest influence on the quality of the manufactured walls and circle closed shapes. It also contain the research of influences of the first layer, the beginnings of weld and shifts on higher layer level. Result of this research is the final product, which is made with the most suitable welding parameters. This research confirms possibility of continuous additive manufacturing of aluminium alloy AlSi5 with MIG welding technology and also the selected optimal parameters. The influence of high thermal conductivity of AlSi5 for additive manufacturing was also proven and partial solutions to resolve this issue were tested

A novel impregnation process for the fabrication of cotton nanocomposite with strong antimicrobial activity against antibiotics-resistant bacteria and yeast was developed. The impregnation process includes the sol-gel treatment of fabric with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane in the first step, and synthesis of the CuO/Cu2O nanoparticles (NPs) on the fabric surface in the second step. The in situ synthesis of the CuO/Cu2O NPs was based on the adsorption of Cu2+-ions by the introduced amino groups of the sol-gel coating. The adsorbed Cu2+-ions are subsequently reduced in the alkaline solution of NaBH4. X-ray diffraction measurements confirmed the formation of CuO/Cu2O NPs. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic absorption spectrometry analyses indicate that the particle size, agglomeration, and amounts of synthesized NPs were highly affected by the initial concentration of CuSO(4)solution. The toxicity of nanocomposites to human keratinocytes (HaCaT) and antimicrobial activity against Gram-negativeEscherichia coliATCC 25922,E. coliATCC BAA 2469, andKlebsiella pneumoniaeATCC BAA 2146, and Gram-positive bacteriaStaphylococcus aureusATCC 25923,S. aureusATCC 43300 and yeastCandida albicansATCC 24433 strongly depended on the copper content. In addition to excellent antimicrobial activity, controlled release of Cu2+-ions from the fabrics into physiological saline solution was obtained
