Correlation Between Hue-angle and Colour Lightness of Steamed Black Locust Wood
Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) wood was steamed at wide range of temperature(75-130°C) applying long (22 days) steaming time. The colour change was monitored by CIE L*a*b*and L*h*c* colour co-ordinate systems. A wide range of colours from greenish yellow up to chocolatebrown were created by steaming in function of the steaming time and temperature. In spite of this widecolour range a good linear correlation was found between the lightness and the colour hue. Thislinearity had little distortion only above 100°C at a long steaming time. Accordingly, this linearcorrelation gives the possibility to follow the colour change during steaming by measuring only thelightness
Photodegradation of Timber of Three Hardwood Species Caused by Different Light Sources
In this study, resistance of black locust, beech and poplar wood to photodegradation was tested, applying sunlight, a xenon lamp and a mercury vapour lamp. The irradiation time was 200 hours for sunlight and the xenon light and 20 hours for the mercury light. The changes were monitored by colour measurements and infrared spectroscopy. The colour change of black locust was more intensive at the beginning of the irradiation than that of the beech and poplar. The degradation of aromatic structure of lignin (absorbing at 1510 and 1596 cm-1) in black locust was minor compared to the same changes of beech and poplar during the first 10 hours. The mercury lamp induced more intensive changes both in colour and in infrared spectrum than the other two light sources. The results show that the high extractive content of black locust absorbs a considerable amount of light radiation protecting the main chemical components of wood
A napsugárzás mesterséges fényforrásokkal történő imitálásának problémája
A vizsgálataink cĂ©lja volt megállapĂtani, hogy a mestersĂ©ges fĂ©nyforrások kĂ©pesek-e imitálni a
faanyagok napsugárzás által okozott degradációját. A próbatesteket xenonlámpával, higanygőz
-
lámpával és közvetlen napfénnyel sugároztuk be. A napfénnyel történt kezelésnél a próbatestek
csak napos idĹ‘ben voltak kitĂ©ve a szabadba. MegállapĂtottuk, hogy a xenonlámpa csak hosszĂş
-
idejű kezelésnél képes szimulálni a napsugárzást.
Rövid idejű xenonlámpás besugárzásnál a faanyag sárgulása gyorsabb és erőteljesebb volt, mint
napfénnyel történő azonos idejű besugárzásnál. Az eredményeink azt mutatták, hogy a higany
-
gőz lámpa nem alkalmas napsugárzás szimulálására
Colour Homogenisation of Hardwood Species by Steaming
For colour homogenisation three hardwood species, black locust (Robinia pseudoacaciaL.), beech (Fagus silvatica L.) and Turkey oak (Quercus cerris L.) were investigated. Steaming wasapplied to change the colour. Steaming parameters (steaming time and temperature) were varied tofind the optimum of treatment. The results are given in the CIE L*, a*, b* colour co-ordinate system.Black locust wood was most sensitive to the steaming temperature. With rising temperature, the colourchange was faster and less time was needed for homogenisation. The behaviour of the other two woodspecies was different from black locust but similar to each other. Below 95°C homogenisation wasinsensible to temperature and within one day the colour change stopped. Above 95°C the colourchange was continuous but without further colour homogenisation. The optimum homogenisation timewas found about 12 hours at 80-95°C temperature range and 6 hours at 110°C for Turkey oak, and18 hours at any temperature for beech
A vĂzgĹ‘z jelenlĂ©tĂ©nek szerepe a faanyag szĂnĂ©nek 90°C-os termikus kezelĂ©ssel törtĂ©nĹ‘ változtatásakor
Termikus kezelést végeztünk száraz és nedves (100%-os páratartalom) körülmények között, 90°C-on.
A következő fafajokat vizsgáltuk: akác (
Robinia pseudoacacia
L.), erdeifenyő (
Pinus sylvestris
L.),
lucfenyő (
Picea abies
Karst), olasznyár (
Populus Ă— euramericana I-214
) és vörösfenyő (
Larix decidua
L.).
A szĂnváltozásban Ă©s az infravörös szĂnkĂ©pben egyaránt jelentĹ‘s eltĂ©rĂ©sek mutatkoztak az abszolĂşt
száraz Ă©s a nedves körĂĽlmĂ©nyek között kezelt faanyagoknál. A vĂzgĹ‘z jelenlĂ©tĂ©ben a változások
lĂ©nyegesen nagyobbak voltak, mint száraz állapotban. A vĂz jelenlĂ©tĂ©nek tehát meghatározĂł sze-
repe van a faanyagok termikus kezelĂ©sĂ©nĂ©l. Nedves lĂ©gtĂ©rben a szĂnkĂ©pzĹ‘ vegyĂĽletek könnyebben
hidrolizálĂłdnak, majd oxidálĂłdnak, kialakĂtva a gĹ‘zölt faanyag szĂnĂ©t. Az akác faanyag szĂne na-
gyobb mértékben változott, mint a többi faanyagé. Az akác faanyagnak a többi faanyagtól eltérő
viselkedĂ©se a magas extraktanyag-tartalmával magyarázhatĂł, ami a biotikus károsĂtĂłkkal szembeni
ellenálló képességének egyik záloga
