Ending the cat-and-mouse embargos game. Making use of EU funds to steer West the Moldovan agriculture exports. EPC Commentary, 30 October 2014
Agriculture in the Republic of Moldova is an important economic sector, accounting for 41% of Moldovan exports and employing 1.3 million people, a large share of the working population. The EU has surpassed Russia as Moldova’s main commercial partner (54% of its exports go to the EU). It is a paradox that the Soviet inheritance still dictates economic trends: the heavy industrialised Transnistria exports, as a percentage, more into the EU than the rest of Moldova does. The right-bank Moldova was designed by Soviet planners as an agricultural basket while Transnistria, on the left bank of the Dniester River, concentrated the heavy industry. As such, from time to time, Russia strikes Moldova where it hurts, with embargos on food and agricultural product
BOOK REVIEW: DIANA COTRĂU, ALEXANDRA COTOC AND OANA PAPUC (EDS.). “AN INTRODUCTION TO INTERNET LINGUISTICS: THE CULTURAL SOCIOLINGUISTIC TAKE WITH CASE STUDIES”. CLUJ-NAPOCA: PRESA UNIVERSITARĂ CLUJEANĂ, 2021, 191 P.
The prevalence of digital communication has made it imperative to study the linguistic practices and patterns unique to these digital spaces. As becomes apparent in An Introduction to Internet Linguistics, the impact of the internet on language use is far-reaching. Digital arenas have not only influenced the way individuals communicate but also engendered new ways of constructing identities and interacting with others. As such, Internet Linguistics has become an increasingly popular area of study for linguists of various academic backgrounds and fields. As posited in the Foreword of An Introduction to Internet Linguistics, the volume attempts to shed light on the interdisciplinary ways language and communication are changing in response to the digital age, by drawing upon frameworks from established theoretical fields such as sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and semiotics. In order to achieve this, the volume has been organized into three main sections: an introductory theoretical study designed as an overall guideline and introduction to the field of Internet linguistics, a compilation of invited papers from established academics and a case-study section comprised of contributions from both graduate as well as doctoral students
Use of the Symmetries in the Study of Vibration Response of a Hollow Cylinder
The paper studies the vibration response of an elastic solid that has geometric symmetries. These determine special properties of the equations of motion of such a system, presented in the case of a cylindrical body (hollow cylinder). The properties of the eigenvalues and eigenmodes of these systems are theoretically established. A validation of these results is made using the finite element method. The use of the obtained results can lead to an easing of the vibration analysis of such a system and, consequently, to the decrease of the cost related to the design and manufacture of such a structure. The properties presented and demonstrated in the paper can simplify the numerical calculation and experimental verifications of such a structure. Serving these symmetries, the computation cost decrease substantially and will depend not in the number of the identical parts

Adder Box Used in the Heavy Trucks Transmission Noise Reduction
The paper aims to analyze the vibrations of a summing box, used in heavy vehicles. An experimental setup is proposed and used for the analysis of these vibrations transmitted by the box housing, based on the measurement of the mechanical impedance. It is then shown that a simpler measurement, namely that of the generated noise spectrum, can provide equally useful results, with less effort and in a shorter time. The experimental setup is much simpler, involving a sonometer arranged in the experimental assembly. The symmetry of the box allows us to facilitate the execution of the experimental assembly, and the use of the symmetrical structure to facilitate the calculation of vibrations. The results obtained using this method in the case of a redesigned adder box are presented in the paper
